Excellent review as always. I wish they gave customers the option to have the pre roll in full HD and low resolution, and that way they could choose their preference instead of just low resolution.
I cancelled my acct immediately, when they reasoned the price could be increased because of new features (that are not useful for me and I would wager for the majority of people) I sold my Ring and got a Eufy Dual cam doorbell and basestation (Not that they are perfect, but I hate these silly price increases all cloud services issue)
@@MeanderingNLI got rid of our Ring on the last price increase and got the Reolink Doorbell camera instead. It'll pay for itself in a year compared to a year of Ring subscription..and has WAY better image quality and features.
Thanks for your videos! I bought the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro on Prime day, because of the discount, and because I have several echo’s and echo show’s. However, I also bought a couple Eufy SoloCam S340’s, and now I am having second thoughts about the Ring doorbell. Maybe I should have gotten the Eufy Dual Camera Battery Doorbell to integrate with the cameras? How well, if at all, do the Eufy Doorbells integrate with Alexa devices as a chime or video preview? Thanks!
The problem with Ring is that they are very misleading. Yes their door bells and cameras are 1080p, but the bit rate is extremely low. So the picture or video quality is more like 480 like and old school TV. All so they can save space on the servers that they are charging the customers to use. I got rid of Ring at my house, now I Eufy. Video quality is incredible, no monthly fee and my recording stay private. You should a video comparing Ring to the competition heads on, Sound and video quality, functionality, bit rates, if cloud service is needed to record and monthly fees. So can clearly see who's good and who sucks.😅
Ring has had plenty is security problems. Employees view videos, sharing video, No encryption for the video, the list goes on. Eufy system now keeps you video at your location not in the cloud, plus they have fix the pass issues. So yeah, I will stick with Eufy. @frank12830
Hi, thanks for the nice video! I bought the new pro version with 2.4 and 5 Ghz wifi network, I still have to install it. Do motion notifications and doorbell rings arrive quickly enough on your phone?
Hi guys, I'm currently testing a Battery Doorbell Pro - Chime Pro - Echo Show 5 setup. Looking at 2:45 , how did you get to activate the doorbell video feed on the Echo Show immediately on motion or door bell ring, i.e. without having a talk to Alexa or interact with the screen?
Pre-roll with Eufy is only available when your wire it in. It is like their wired doorbells, full resolution buffered footage. This Ring Battery Doorbell Pro has the pre-roll even without wiring in but low res and no audio.
I curious to what’s the resolution on the preroll. I’m sure Ring could’ve increased it without it using much battery but that’s probably something they decided to hold off on until the next release
I bought a Ring Plus because of the wider field of view camera only find out that they had taken away the pre-roll that was available in the Ring 4, an earlier model. The fact that I had to purchase this ring pro in order to get that back with the wider field of view at a much higher price is a scam.
What's the best way to install the Ring doorbell on a metal door in a rental apartment building? Magnets? 3M foam tape? Can it be removed or stolen? Thanks?
I think the radar Gimmick is for Future drones cameras that will be subscription type thing.. Problem is Ring is way way behind in the game at this Point...
@@LifeHackster Yes so what happen to the indoor drone? its like a no go? what happen to amazon drone delivery? Ring is only relevant because of its very good Marketing .
What is the difference between this and the Pro 2 other than the battery vs. wired difference? I have spare batteries so I don’t mind having something that I can take with me should I move to another location that does not have a wired option. Is it the same 6 second pre-roll?
The Pre-Roll. The battery one will have a low resolution pre-roll while the wired PRO 2, because it is always on, will have the "real" footage pre-roll.
I have a ring doorbell and I have a Google doorbell. Hands down ring is better. Google can't keep a charge as a pain in the butt. I have the Google and the ring doorbell with the battery and it is wired. The ring holds a charge pretty well unlike the Google doorbell.
Has anybody noticed that you can no longer connect the old Arlo doorbell and the old Arlo essential spotlight cam, as well as the old Arlo indoor cam to their newest base station? only my ultra cam connects to the base station. Did Arlo just kick out base connectivity of the older models in favor of their newer models?
I Value your reviews I think they are some of the best in the SECURITY cams however there is something you may or may not know and that all the privacy issues with RINGS Cameras and how they hand your videos without your permission is like installing a camera in your house for when the cops need the video they just request the video from RING and that's it.
is this the ring pro 2 in uk? im confused. i tried out a aosu door bell and it had terrible audio, heard a lot of them do have bad audio and a delay on the video. heard eufy and riolink have same problem. does the ring pro 2 have these problems too?
The Eufy s330 dual battery doorbell is ok, whereas the newer E340 doorbell has alot of background noise suppression added making it sound muffled like its underwater, at least it did when i tried it when it first came out in Oct 2023.
No, the Ring Pro 2 is a wired (only) doorbell. This one is like the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus that came out a year or so ago, but with added features. It can be wired, but as far as power is concerned it runs from its battery and the wiring is only used to trickle-charge that. For Ring Pro 2 and other wired doorbells, they run off a bell transformer and if your power goes out they stop working (like a traditional wired doorbell). For both the Plus and Pro battery units and the wired units like the Pro 2, the wiring can also be used to ring an existing traditional chime. I bought a Plus a few months ago, and the audio and video is good (I can clearly hear the milkman's footsteps and see him as he approaches the house when he leaves our millk bottles in the small hours) - but I wish I'd known about the Pro coming out because I could use some of the new features.
I have one question as i bought this battery doorbell because of your review! When someone ring the bell! It take too long to display the video , is this because i give to my wife credential of my account? And creates lagging? Or what? Because my nest doorbell battery had the same issue!😭 maybe i should get the wired pro???? Thank you!
I had to remove the Pro and put the plus back up. It was missing a lot of motion and motion frequency set at frequently was horrible. The Plus would only have a 2-3 second interval between videos whereas the Pro would be 12-17 seconds or not picking up again.
I got the Doorbell Battery Plus and was disappointed with its performance and battery life. So I upgraded to the Pro and it’s worst than the plus version. With the same settings it’s missing a lot of motion, sometimes pre roll works, nighttime footage is extremely grainy and there is a blurry spot in the lens.
Sorry to hear your experience. If you are missing a lot of motion in a battery powered doorbell or camera. You need to consider true wired ones like their PRO and Pro 2 if you want to stay with Ring but there are other brands that can record 24/7 or has a reliable full resolution pre-roll.
I have the Ring Pro 2 but I need to get my house wired. I also noticed with motion set to frequently there is longer cooldown on the Pro compared to the Plus. Perhaps after another firmware update it will be better but for now I’m switching back to the Plus
Ok so real question you might have covered in the past. Exactly WHAT router or system do you use to cover all of your devices? Brand? Model? If mesh how many nodes? If unifi how many of them? I've got good Internet but without good Wi-Fi it's nothing. 🤟🏻
I’ve got the Ring doorbell 4 and this doesn’t seem any better than that TBH. I’ll stick with what I have until they release a real battery pro doorbell
It is the worst, first one camera had a black square in front of image and wouldn't connect to WiFi. Took it back and the replacement works but won't stay connected to WiFi! Read all the negatives review comments in the app store! Wish we did!
The one thing I don't like on the new ring doorbell compared to my old one is the fish eye view it displays, it's ridiculous! I understand they do that for a wider view, but that's BS because my 2nd gen basic has a very big full range with absolutely no distortion. Not just that, but the pro version displays everything too far away, making it very hard to make out someone face. Overall, I think the Plus version is the best, but like I stated, the fish eye distorts everything which defeats the purpose of identifying someone who might be standing to the side of the camera. It's for this reason why I don't buy the new version. Sorry, but it's a hard pass!
Design is still bulky/ugly, camera doesn't look great especially with the fish eye lens look and the subscription based model is a hard pass. Ring needs to go back to the drawing boards, literally and figuratively speaking.
Not a chance with their pricing of the product and also get bitten by subscription fees (Which keep increasing) Image and features might be great, but I hate being a milkcow for 'services' These days people are paying soooo much in cloud services, and they all increase prices and you get less. It is in low resolution to save battery life. This is only the battery doorbell that has a pre-roll.
