- [4K] Area 51 the ride is an Alien dark boat ride at Movie Park Germany.
Fun fact: There used to be an identical ride called "Bermuda Triangle: Alien Encounter" over at Sea World in Gold Coast, Australia. That ride was removed back in 2010.
Is there any more Alien dark ride out there in the world that we should visit? If so, let us know so in the comment below on where we can find one.
For info and tickets, please visit their official website:

Ride filmed November 2022 with permission from park management and marketing department.
This ride also used to me called Bermuda Triangle - same as the now defunct Australian version - only in 2019 was it rethemed/refurbed to 'Area 51', which might explain all the water elements people are questioning about being in the Nevada desert etc.
Yeah, I was trying to figure the water element out while watching. Thanks for the explanation! It makes a lot more sense now. Either way, a rather impressive ride.
I too recognise it as "Bermuda Triangle" - was located at Sea World Gold Coast before it was removed ... and possibly re-homed/themed as Area 51?! If so they've done a good job of it :)
@@aussietig3r The one is Germany is a Carbon Copy of the Australian one - the German version opened in 1996 so definitely not a relocation - like I said both rides existed at the same time and both where called Bermuda Triangle until the AU version was removed and the German one was refurbed - to be fair the German ride has remained pretty much the same.... but a lot of the classic effects where fixed and it was generally spruced up - so for many fans - the rebrand to Area 51 was worth it for that!
Ah! Thank you! I saw the thumbnail and thought "that looks so familiar, but I don't think it's disney or universal in Florida? So why do I remember it?"
I wa sin Australia YEARS ago and this explains where I saw it! 🤣
also explains the Aztec ruins elements too
I always thought that Area 51 was where humans experimented on aliens, not aliens on humans. Never too old to learn.
They do
😂😂@@jerome2022
Of all the Alien/Area 51 raft rides in Germany, this one is definitely in my top 10!
top 10? how many of these are there?
@@SHKEVE right? what on earth 😂
Area 51 is in the Nevada desert, so a boat ride is very silly to me.
so the boat ride and not the aliens running area 51 is the silly part ? smh, everyone knows we keep the aliens at S4 lol.
Until 2019 it was themed to Bermuda Triangle - suppose they had to think of something comparable they could re-theme it to on the refurb budget they had!
I agree. There are a bunch of great themes that would have made more sense and still been thrilling.
part of the pre-show story is that they flooded Groom Lake because of the aliens. not that coherent, but enough to not destroy the illusion. i love that ride, altho i also think the old Bermuda theme was a little better fitting. overall its the same ride tho
The silly part of Area 51 is the water not the aliens? 😂😂😂
The aliens remind me of the ones from “Mars Attacks!” and I’m loving it
They are 1/2 Wall-E and 1/2 Mars Attacks.. And the third 1/2 is like a butthead.
So this is a copy of the Bermuda Triangle ride at Sea World in Australia back in the 2000’s. It was amazing back in the day
Right, the two parks used to be owned by the same company.
The defuncted version of this ride(Seaworld gold coast australia) freaked me out when I was a child
A boat ride about a military base in the desert. Brilliant!
It used to be themed to Bermuda Triangle which made much more sense - in 2019 it was 're-themed' to Area 51.
it makes sense tho if you watch the pre-show, where they explain all of that
It reminds me of a display window of a department store. You can pretty much dress it up to be anything ... and the boat slowly goes past it. You could make it the "Escape The WEF" ride where you see all the globalists gathering to plot the takeover of the world, releasing vyruses, forcing injections and then in the end you escape with help from Russia who doesn't want to be part of the Uniparty world order.
Under water caverns?
Why does the lift hill sound like a ping pong game?
Mixed with popcorn popping
I didn't know Groom Lake has water. Actually we don't know what Area 51 looks like, but all that we know is it's a real place that real secretive. I knew a retired air force mechanic in Salt Lake City who had worked in Area 51 saying he agrees with me that it's only America's experimental black bird program. He said he wonders what the Aurora project looks like.
The original hanger has been abandoned and emptied out. I’ve seen documentaries that go inside, but it’s nothing special since being gutted and relocated.
Some of the theming is very cool, but the ending is anti climactic for sure. Some simple things could be done to make this ride a little more exciting in the slow parts.
Pretty neat. Ironically, there is an under ground spring there but very few who work there have seen it.
@Attractions 360* that ride there in germany is an exact copy of the old bermuda triangle ride That used to be at seaworld theme park over here in Australia, way back in the day maybe like in the 90's era to early 2000's era.
Its not an exact copy, the australian version had some different decors like a stone dragon the boat would pass though. It also featured on board audio which the german version doesnt have
@@QDude24 i think the german version used to have on board sound back in the day. i think i slightly remember it. but i could be wrong. i think they wanted to fix it for refurb in 2019 but couldnt make it work for weight reasons, bc the boats needed some new hardware wich was already too heavy, and there wasnt enough spare weight left for the speakers.
i also think the australian version had a slightly different layout, but not sure on that either.
@@carlosmarx2380 layout was the same. And the current boats on Area 51 are the old Ice Age boats, they replaced then all during the refurb
@@QDude24 oh good to know!
It's just a little on the cheesy side but looks like fun. Kudos to the filmmaker.
Ooo! Good use of the Peppers Ghost effect!
pretty unique and awesome

Very cool attraction. Looks like a lot of fun. Great video! 👍🏼
Interesting concept. I have to ask though: What exactly is the point of rotating the vehicle 3/4 of the way through just to immediately rotate it again 10 seconds/50 meters later?
its fun. i always love me some turntables, even if its just 10 of them in a row
Its for the scene where everything starts collapsing, that scene wouldn't be as exciting if you could see whats in front of you
@@carlosmarx2380 Weird flex but OK
In the original state, there was dense water steam beginning from the backward section, which increasingly takes away the view and then also became hotter and hotter towards the top of the lift. That is why the last seconds are so empty.
I love the concept of an Area 51 ride but it was more frightening than I had expected. Especially when the boat drifted past the alien working on the @nal probes @ 3:11 in the video. I had to turn my head and cough.
The theming is great
I think having the aliens talking and sizing up the riders would have been more engaging, Like the alien in front of the only empty tube holding the people he could have said "We have an opening for you" or something like that.
cant explain it but I think this is sooo cool.
2:53 ah, it's our old friend from the bermuda triangle at seaworld.
Why did the boat number switch between 6 and 9? Was the footage stitched together, or was it meant to be an “eerie” effect?
We rode it twice. One with a lowlight camera and another a Gopro camera for the outside portion and drop.
It’s interesting that so many rides in Europe are themed to American things
Awesome 😎
Wow that's a very good ride i want to ride it,if all goes well i will soon visit germany once more and i will try to see it from a closer look! 🤩
I don't know what you plan to visit but germany has some incredible parks, including Europapark and Phantasialand, definitely have to do this one time in your life
@@OmmegaTang Yes i know they have awesome amusement theme parks!
@@TwesomE do you know I just love it so much it's looks like sapsucker in movie theater in new Disney company class starts at VIP tickets tour guide Legends ghost tour New time travel would be there in contact info conjuring cast see me feel like I was looking at me
welcome to Germany :) may i recomend PHANTASIALAND, which is not far from MOVIE PARK and has amazing rides:)
here's my theory what if both the german and australian rides lead to the same pocket reality ... hmmm think about it
also i'm so happy to see this existing it was my favourite ride at sea world
I'm so confused. Why is there some bits in English, but others in German?
The park is rather close to the border to the netherlands, I guess that's why?
@@musikpilz770 Well, the more logical explanation is that the theme is set in the US
@@QDude24 almost every ride's theme in the park is set in the US, thats not the reason. Movie Park is next to the German/Dutch border and also close to Begium. There are also lots of people in our area that don't speak german. the park is located in a cultural melting pot. That's why most rides have dutch and english translations, mostly subtitles, but sometimes also audio. e.g they used to show their 4D-films in english, dutch and german. not anymore tho since the current Looney Tunes 4D film doesnt have any dialogue.
The truth is out there! 👽
Have you been to Dollywood in Tennessee if you haven't you need too film there the rides are so fun
This ride has so much time for nothing.. just sitting and looking at rocks, I like that the pillars fall after you leave too, but when animatronics are there the sets look great!!

I was on this ride as a child and it was very scary to me.
Area 51 has entrances to underground caverns that lead to Germany...by boat😂
Sweet!
Those aliens are so smart!
looks cool.
This is a very cool attraction I loved this POV.
Literally jumped out of my skin when he went to clean the lense hahahahah
lmaooo same!
LOL at some of the comments, Americans should be the last people to talk about geographically knowledge.
The layout really reminds me of Pirates of the Carribbean
This is awesome even when I didn't understand it
there is a VR headset that is made for under water that would go great with a ride like this, you could change the water to slime or guts or something and make the whole thing look like you crawled up into something.
This is actually a depiction of Area 51. It is also considered a D.U.M.B. Deep Underground Military Base. They exist. Gibraltar is one of many
Honestly it doesn’t look like they put half as much effort as Disney. Could be dated tho? When was the ride made?
mid 90's - its got that 90s charm - and for the budget they had (nothing like Disney's) its quite impressive.
dude do you seriously compare a german park to fucking Disney? Disney is literally the biggest theme park company on the planet with by far the highest budgets, even higher than universal. Movie Park Germany is a one-day park in the middle of a metropole with mostly less wealthy people and costs 40-50 euros and sells cheap food. Disney costs at least 200 per day and offers high class gourmet experiences. but yeah, they "didnt put in the effort"...
Also look at Disney Paris. THIS is what i call "not putting in effort". Literally the worst Disney Park in the world.
for comparisonn: most rides at Movie Park cost around 10-15 million dollars to build. Given the small budget, they put in WAY MORE effort than disney, because they use every euro very wisely. especially if you look at the newer stuff at Disney, wich fucking sucks. Disneys budgets are usually 50-200 Million dollars.
Also its a ride from 1996 and its still one of the Top 3 dark rides in all of germany, and probably in the european Top 10.
They don't have the budget of Disney. Even then, it's quite impressive in it's own right.
nice very good
What ride was this before it was re-themed? The Aztec props don’t seem to blend very well with aliens! 👽 lol 😂
awesome
Fact: Area 51 is located in the Nevada desert.
Ride designer: Lat's make it a water ride.
Kind of too much dead space--the ride could be about 1/3 shorter and have the same effects.
That's it.....I want a Half-Life tram dark ride. 😩
Yes. Now I need a whole Valve theme park. Just think about it. Aperture Laboratories Portal ride, Half Life shooter ride, Team Fortress 2 character areas.
@@letitgrow1846 if you think about it. Knowing Valve, they would probably partner with Weta to bring alot of it to life. And that would be sick 🤙
The plane at the beginning resembles a ta 152 mixed with a bf 109 painted in US camo😂
That was hilarious.
Just change out some props and you got the pirate of the Caribbean, or rise of resistance, or E.T's goes home. Ride.
Seem a miss opportunity not have the boats shaped like UFOs .
ここいつか行きたいなあ・・・日本からツアーとかないのかな
Groom Lake DRY Lake Bed has an underground river?
My reaction to this is Kombucha Girl
Yaaa Goot rite...
the old ride was better! It fitted so well into the movie theme. the military is way too modern IMO. It misses this classic nostalgica feeling
what? how is a military theme set in the 1950s modern? and the only thing thats different is the color of the mountain (wich is btw the exact same color that the vulcano was painted until 2008, so very nostalgic), and that they exchanged the boats for planes, and the video content, wich wasnt much to begin with. i personally think the bermuda theme made more sense too, but all in all its the exact same ride and it hasnt looked that good since the early 2000s
I agree - but I suppose It better a refurb than being scrapped, - its 90% the same as the old ride anyway.
@@carlosmarx2380 the atmosphere is different! also the media content in the hangar is not the same (LAVASTRÖME!)
Fantastische, wo ist das?
Im Movie Park Germany
Voll gemütliche Fahrt.
I have a question; is Movie Park a Warner Brothers property or is it its own thing?
Hey. Movie Park used to be called Warner Brothers Movie World Germany, and was a sister park to the one still existing in Australia. Lots of stuff is very similar, including the layout of the park and the main street. However, Warner Brothers sold the German park in the early 2000s, so they rebranded to Movie Park and re-named/re-themed a lot of the rides. So it's no longer associated with Warner brothers, but a lot of the older rides were built by them, so they may seem similar to Warner brothers movies and IPs.
Water in Area 51??! Hilarious!
That was different.
I never knew how much people in Area 51 love to play Table Tennis.
An Amusement Park Ride named after a Toxic Waist Dump............🙃
1:44 sounds like a bunch of ping pong balls
Idk , but i love Dark Ride :) Like testing the adrenaline hahahaha 🤣🙏🏻

This is what happens when your designer doesn't know the first thing about area 51..so you thought the base was in the sewer...and you thought wrong..but I was impressed with your show either way...if you do a jungle ride dont make it in a dessert setting
this comment is what happens when you didnt watch the pre-show and dont know the actual story line. the story is: to make the mountain explorable via something different than walking/climbing, they drilled some canals through the mountain and flooded Groom Lake with water so you can explore by boat. your excuse to ride is, that they are hosting a visitor's event to assure the public that there aren't any aliens at area 51 and everything is just fine, but obviously the plan goes wrong.
the only thing where i agree is the foliage. it doesnt look like a desert, but thats mainly because of space reasons. if there werent any plants at the side, you would see the parking lot, wich breaks the immersion even more. its at the very front end of the park and space is very limited there. and also they dont have disney budget, so just building mountains everywhere would be too expensive. its still an amazing ride and one of my all time favorites.
A dessert setting? Chocolate or vanilla?
👽👽👽
How odd, the ride looks to be a reworking of an Atlantis theme. They could have done much better.
It’s not Disneyland or Universal so rides don’t have to make sense they don’t have the budget or copyright if it comes to close they get sued I get that most people don’t care but that’s what it is.
I am still waiting to be scared.
Thats not the point of the ride
エリア51ってイチローみたいでかっこいいな(笑)
This ruined my childhood. I was 8 and sat next to my grandma but it felt so claustrophobic and dangerous and it was terrifiyng and i cant get on any rollercoaster afterwards.
I would burst out laughing if they had some Naruto running dummies somewhere on the ride.
Why we can't trust an aliens especially that alien at home😆
👽
내 신성한 신전이 아니잖아?! 여긴어디지...?
This was originally a different theme, right? Is is a repurposed ride? Cos the whole 'ancient temple' elements in it don't make any sense otherwise.
Original theme was bermuda triangle
@@kalzium8857 Thank you.
My German is a little rusty, are they talking about probes?
Area 51 Alien Dark Ride is amazing ride
I wonder why they would make Area 51 a boat ride. Area 51 is supposed to be in the middle of the Nevada desert.
Not bad..that’s in Germany? Surprised a lot of English writing & USAF stuff in there..
These parts are actually authentic USAF parts, you can see this in a behind the scenes video (in german) of this ride. Warner "dumped" all this scapped USAF parts from US to germany to fit the theming for the first ride (bermuda triangle).
Most German moment ever: Das werde ich Melden!😂
I thought this was the alien franchise
There aint that many trees within a 1000 sq miles of 'Area 51'. and those 'mountains' look 'baaaad'...
Why on earth is a theme park in Germany have speaker speaking in english?
It's close to the border with the Netherlands and Belgium. A lot of them come over to the park for a day trip, and they don't speak German. It's kinda like Disneyland in Anaheim having Spanish audio for announcements .
looks like the Jurassic world ride

This ride made no sense and there really isn't anything Area 51 about it lol
