- [2022] 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is an unique submarine ride at Tokyo DisneySea. Do you guys prefer this Disney submarine ride at Tokyo DisneySea or the Finding Nemo Submarine ride at Disneyland in California? Let us know in the comment below.
"Home to an ancient, advanced civilization, Atlantis is said to have sunk to the bottom of the ocean long ago. Some say the people of that continent lived on and adapted to the world beneath the waves. Board one of Captain Nemo's powerful submarine boats and join him in his undersea search for Atlantis." - www.tokyodisneyresort.jp
Both Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom used to have the 20,000 Leagues under the Sea submarine ride. Disneyland turns it into Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage while Magic Kingdom has become Seven Draws Mine Train coaster ride.
Ride filmed October 2022 at Tokyo Disneysea at Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.
If you're claustrophobia, this ride may not be for you.
One thing I find interesting is how, unlike the other 20,000 Leagues rides, this doesn’t actually go under water, they just give off the effect by having water in the windows and blowing bubbles through it.
This might be because in a previous 20,000 league ride after the ride closed they never drained the water and let the animatronics sit, dissolving for years. But the time they finally drained the water they were ruined beyond repair. This was probably done so they don’t have to go through something like that again.
Many sections of Nemo are actually dry. Same jellyfish here, for example.
I figured that out when I was there. My mom thought we were really underwater. I didn't tell her that we weren't.
The Cost to maintain the 20,000 Leagues at Disneyland was not sustainable. Break downs were constant and repairs were hard to do being underwater. Handicap accessibility is another factor in ride design compared to back in the day. It was an effort to get into those subs at Disneyland. Sadly this ride loses that feel. But the line cue and entrance to the ride is AMAZING.
Oh, you noticed that toooooooo..
It is extremely impressive how they can make it look like you are truly underwater now while to even having water. The old 20,000 leagues ride (that turned into finding nemo) was partially submerged which was impressive. And I only know of one submarine ride that used legitimate submarines and that was the ride that was at West Edmonton Mall in my home town. It got shut down YEARS ago but the submarines were positively buoyant so they could float and were held underwater by holding on to the track they were guided by. They loaded and offloaded via an elevating platform that would raise the track they were anchored to. The only thing exposed above the water line during the ride was the conning tower which served as the emergency evac and snorkel. They had to shut it down due to constant mechanical issues with the platforms and operating costs last i checked but the tracks and everything other than the platform and the submarines are still in the lake inside the mall. And yes i said inside. They have a man made lake inside the building.
20,000 leagues was at WDW. It was closed many years ago. Disneyland Submarine was turned into Nemo.
@@docvogeld I thought it was at both? They were nearly identical when originally in operation were they not?
@@Brodrich The ride system was the same, as was the idea of a lagoon out front leading into a show building disguised by caverns. Otherwise different theme, subs, storyline & narration, and show scenes.
I love this! A submarine ride without being jammed in a narrow tube!
Exactly! When I went on the original a few decades ago, claustrophobia hit me!😬 I slipped out the exit before they even began the ride!😄
I remember riding this so many times back when I was a kid in Japan. I wasn't tall enough for rides like Journey to the Center of the Earth, and the Tower of Terror had not opened yet, so this was my favorite ride in the park. I also really loved Aquatopia and the Little Mermaid themed land
as someone who rode original 20000 leagues at Disney world this was amazing, thank you for sharing, fantastic!
What Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage _should have been_
i agree..so sad they changed it. i love nemo but all of those projections underwater really take away from the atmosphere and i feel like it's a way to distract people and kids from remembering they are under water
Except this isn’t really under the water at all. At least the view of the subs is under actual water as you look out.
Ikr
@@cvdelsanto so the ride vehicle doesn’t really go underwater, right? How do they make it look like you’re underwater when you look out the window?
@Adventures with Alex Just a double layered glass with water and air bubbles with great timing. It's very believable!
I went here with my family a couple of years ago. DisneySea was incredible!
Me too! Except I came at the second-last date of 2022! It was a blast.
@@davinlee3412 One of the most under appreciated Disney parks ever 👍 also very unique. From what I understand Universal’s Epic Universe in 2025 (Orlando) is taking some inspiration from Disney Sea.
Back in the '70's I got to ride the nautilus in the 20,000 leagues ride at Disney land. Getting on a 'sub' and cruising under the sea was a great ride.
around 5:20 when the submarine was losing power and struggling to float back, you can see the merpeople pushing the submarine to help us as the shadows on the wall. More clearly visible when in person.
肉眼で見るよりきれいに映ってますね Beautiful …
This ride used to be much darker and less dramatic when it first opened. Searchlights and easier to view features were added a few years later.
This is so cool to me because my first trip to Disneyland as a kid the Finding Nemo Submarine ride was 20000 Leagues Under The Sea.
Well, I did remember riding finding Nemo submarine voyage the first time when, I was 22 years old.
The bubble effect is genius. I only wish that they would somehow could move the bubbles along a horizontal plane. They only go vertical and move with the cab which doesn't look very realistic but still very smart.
Aww brought back fond memories.
Such a fantastic ride ❤ it’s on my bucket list
This looks goddamn magical!
We were thinking that as well. Would much prefer this over the Finding Nemo Submarines at Disneyland. Love the suspended dark ride element of it.

4:10 What I would have loved to see are the murals in the atlantis ruins in more detail, since from what I gather they did much worldbuilding in just those pictures on the walls, showing the story of Atlantis and its downfall.
Remind me of the original themed submarine ride in CA when I grew up in the 80s
That looks really good. Makes me miss the one they had in Orlando.
that looks cool.
still my fav ride
Cool ride
I wish that there were English subtitles. I still enjoyed it but you get that added wow factor when you hear the story too.
Reminds me of the original Submarine Ride at Disneyland Only less claustrophobic, and a little more excitement
Wow, that's neat. It is a bit reminiscent of the original 20,000 Leagues ride but with updated special effects. It is definitely more aesthetically steampunk than the original ride or the movie. Then again, the novel by Jules Verne, upon which the movie and the original rude are based, could be considered steampunk. 😃
I like how they have spot lights you can control to look around.
👍❤ nice
I’ve only been on the one in WDW Florida. So I prefer that.
Pretty Cool! Too bad there's not a version of this Disneyland California or in Disney World!
Disneyland already has a submarine ride.
@@rckblzr it’s nowhere near this cool
Cool effect. Of bubbles in window. To make it look like underwater
I remember this movie and it's on Disney plus. This Walt Disney movie came out in 1954. That's after Peter Pan and before Lady and the Tramp.
damn this looks way better than the OG I rode back in the 80's in florida
Looks like a great ride but why did the camera operater keep swinging it back to the ppl inside I felt like they were missing the actual ride .. the random ppl inside weren't doing anything interesting lol
How I wish they could redo this ride with today's technology using video as well as animatronics - they could do amazing things like putting us in the Wheelhouse behind Captain Nemo as the Nautilus dives underwater, in the flooded Pump Room as Nemo & crew are repairing it, and actually show the squid fight and we'd be in it facing the squid!
The cars on this one look more like "Atlantis the Lost Empire" than "20,000 Leagues". And I'm sure the Japanese enjoy the Steampunk style.
Personne en parle mais cette attraction est exceptionnelle l'immersion est folle !
I want more realistic rides unlike fantasy rides.
Way better than the Finding Nemo Ride. I wish Disney World still had the Nautilus ride though. That was so cool even with the limited technology in the tank at the time. It would be great to bring it back now
I would love to ride it soon!
This would work great as a Bioshock ride XD
Welcome to Japan!! Have a nice trip 😊
I love submarines
All Aboard!
I hope will be there soon
Wish we had this in America Disney parks.
Bob Cheapskate would never allow it.
@@knightofarkronia8652 Even with Bob Chapstick out of Disney, they still wouldn't dare do anything with this much care and detail.
Kinda feels like what it'd look like if they did a ride for the Atlantis movie
The Original WDW ’71 version was the best but this one looks really awesome too.
Awesome ❤
THIS RIDE IS SO COOL!
Does anyone else think that the fish-people from the Atlantis scene are sort of cute?
Wow that ell mad me jump
6 year old me was jump scared
incredibe
I really wish we had this at DLR instead of Subs. I love the Subs and their history, but I feel like this would do loads better.
Space is an issue and having the lagoon keeps Tomorrowland cool, so I don't think it'll ever happen, but it would be nice
It's in Japanese so it's Tokyo Disneysea!
AMAZING😍🤩👍
Hola , cuenta con fast pass está atracción?
It's reminiscent of 20K at WDW except this one doesn't actually submerge.
wondering what the evacuation plan for this ride is! ugh what i wouldn't give to be there on a day where it breaks down just to see those gorgeous set pieces up close!!!!
I've seen a video of an evacuation on this ride and you have to climb up to an area above the sets to evacuate. So you won't be able to walk through them
撮影主が左側に乗った時点でどうしてもウツボを連想してしまったw
トラウマだから仕方ない
here comes the titanic submarine memes
ものすごい楽しいわけじゃないんだけど、これ乗らないとディズニーシー行ったって感じしないんだよね笑
UNDER THE SEA!!!!!!!!
I feel like this ride would be more suited as an Atlantis ride. But from a marketing standpoint I see the need to do 20,000 instead as it's name alone is more grounded.
this is the way how do i vacation without waste a money just sitting in the front of phone and watching your video...
Nice submarine dark ride at Tokyo Disneyland!
The merfolk remind me of vaporeon.
I just discovered we are not looking at things under water but the windows have two layers where in between it is water and bubble. They probably did this to prevent cases of submachanophobia
Well, I do like it. Also I am looking forward to watch Disney's Underwater Marathon soon with the Disney's Live-Action Remake of The Little Mermaid soon.
You're lying. You're never gonna watch a marathon soon especially of the live action little mermaid soon.
@@gissneric ?
I’m getting bioshock vibes.
I will say I wish they'd bring this ride to California I think it's a phenomenal and Atlantis perfect ride
We thought of the same thing. Great minds think alike. 😀
I’m glad they got 20,000 leagues under the sea 🌊 from Tokyo Disneyland.
Is this at Tokyo Disney sea?
Yes
Recommend you update the clip description. “If you're claustrophobia, this ride may not be for you.” I’m fairly sure no one is “claustrophobia” - perhaps they are “claustrophobic” but it would be truly surprising if any of your viewers are “claustrophobia.” And if they ARE Claustrophobia, they would probably LOVE this ride. So there it is. Peace.
日本だ嬉しい
Is there an english sountrack available on the ride in Japan?
No
Was it scary in person
I see 20 leagues under the sea and I click 🤷♂️
This reminds me of Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Was thinking the same thing.
@@TheLostBoysGirls I love that movie
@@tonybarde2572 Same here. It is so underrated. Shame that the movie didn't do well in theaters. Otherwise, we would've gotten an Atlantis submarine ride at Disneyland instead of Finding Nemo.
@@TheLostBoysGirls Yeah
I've went here
Is there any small drops in this attraction?
No.
japan disneyland🥺🥺
It's sponsored by coca cola lmao
This is better than california because of the pure great painstaking detail, california is nightmare fuel, the electric fish
The anglerfish can be scary at times on that attraction.
They should keep a coffee can in the corner in case someone need to take a dump, during the long ride.
The kraken animatronic should be added to the submechanaphobia list.
The birth of steam punk.
I prefer the OLD submarine ride at DisneyLand, before "Finding Nemo".
wait does even disney in america have this? did this ride actually go under water or were those windows actually screens.
Real animatronics. Just moves like underwater.
Does it really go under water or is that a video screen?
The bubbles are moving with the boat and there’s animatronics during the ride, so safe to say it’s either a screen OR a thin window that allows bubbles to travel through to simulate being underwater
I’ve ridden this one- it’s bubbles between two sheets of glass on the windows. Still very convincing; I thought we’d actually gone under water at first.
Is it just a screen or is the sub you were in really under water?
there is water between window and window. and making bubbles in there. so outside of submarine is not really under water, but its not screen.
@@tokuatsou24 Cool.
They had a "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" ride at Disney World in Florida years ago. I guess it was okay. Getting on the ride wasn't like this. The ride itself was just you rode around this Lagoon looking at a bunch of fake stuff under the water.
The way i would go feral for this ride if it was in America
Isnt this abandoned?
Do you have the Koopa Challenge?
3:10 Wait, so are there supposed to be two squids, or it the attempted set up meant to make it look like there’s only one that looks in the window no matter where you sit?
