    I actually enjoy fluid changes like this. They're fairly easy to do, and I find watching the fluid drain out soothing. It's also a nice feeling driving around the vehicle knowing that they're all fresh fluids in the drivetrain. I bought a fluid transfer pump for like 7 bucks from my local discount store tool section, and it made filling the transfer case and differentials so much easier. I just poured the quarts into a clean 1 gallon container, and just filled from that.

    Aftermarket driveshafts greased, transmission and transfer case fluids changed, went ahead with front differential fluid too… stopped there and started taping/painting my Metalcloak diff covers so they’re ready for the next project-4.5” lock ‘n load plus HD steering with all parts sitting right in my garage.
    For reals: I’ve appreciated all of your videos. Entire Metalcloak overline system plus routine maintenance plus lift and steering next… *cheers* and hope to see you out there some day.

    Great video! After seeing this, I changed the fluid in mine yesterday! I needed to buy a T55 torx bit for the fill plug.
    For the skid plate, I removed the two back bolts and one front bolt. I loosened the other front bolt, and then just rotated the skid plate out of the way without having to remove it completely. This made it very easy! Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

Any chance you’d be willing to do a diff fluid change on that beautiful rig of yours? I followed your vids while doing a fluid change for the transmission and transfer case on a 2008 Sahara JKU (manual, of course) with 75,000 miles. I even read some of those crazy forums and did a coolant flush on my own. But I’m honestly a little intimidated and not sure I’m ready to start messing with those pumpkins. That’s where it originally came from, but who has seen that movie? It was a regular mention on Rocky and Bullwinkle by the villain Boris. Autoedits was quoting it from There’s Something About Mary when Ben Stiller said it.

    anyone know if a 2017 jeep cherokee sport uses a 1 speed or 2 speed transfer case?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Рік тому

      does it have 4 low or just 4 high? that's how you tell ... 4 low means 2 speeds

      @marinellym8444 Рік тому

      @@AutoEdits oh man..im not sure. i know i need the transfer case removed. the mechanic is charging $3k. so i figured maybe i can buy the part myself and it would be cheaper. he just drove the car and said it was a 2 speed but i thought you could only tell by looking at the tag on the transfer case? i just wanted to be sure before buying it.

    • @automotive474
      @automotive474 8 місяців тому

      @@marinellym8444you can tell by checking on the center console if you have a big ol lever with some markings next to it of which some will read "4L" and "4H". That's a "2 speed" transfer case.

    Hey man can i do the transfer case change before changing the transmission fluid? Do the fluid mix at all?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  Рік тому

      Yes you can. They don't mix at all if everything is operating correctly. The transfer case fluid has a shorter service interval as well.
