    Fairfield Circuitry have created this analog EQ to act as a tone sweetener for any instrument, drum machine or any scenario where a flexible console style Parametric EQ is needed. The Long Life’s Freq knob sweeps from a super low 8Hz to to 6kHz and the gain control either boosts or cuts. Other than notching or boosting these bands, a Tilt EQ allows Low-pass or high-pass along with general boost and grit thanks to a signal path loaded with zesty zener diodes and the high output of the circuit. The Q or resonance control really lets the magic out of the box with either subtle coloration from a wide Q or very focused notch filtering mixed with screaming controllable oscillation. You can control the Freq remotely with an exp or use the 1/8” CV inputs for maximum control over the freq and q factor. As with all Fairfield pedals, the Long Life is built in a robust enclosure with high quality components in Quebec.

    At first I was like "Oh, just another EQ pedal, I probably don't want or need this but I'll check it out for Andy's playing." and that quickly changed to "Omg, I want one!".

    As always Andy I appreciate your demos! Your playing ability and choice of tunes to play that are so effective in highlighting the features of whatever pedal you are futzing around with earn you my respect. I am looking at parametric EQ as I begin writing and recording some industrial metal. There are many and how do evaluate the Bang-for-the-Buck with so many choices? Thanks again, Andy. Keep on rockin'!!!!!!!!!!

    Me being a huge Melvins fan, and after watching this video for like the millionth time, it suddenly dawned on me that the riff Andy starts playing at around 9:24, is really similar to 3:10 in the song "Little Brother" by Dale Crover (Melvins drummer), from Dale's first solo album, haha
    Also, what an incredible pedal! I want one real bad!

    Great video! Off the subject, I really enjoy playing with my fingers probably because I started out on bass. Can you get pinch harmonics playing with the fingers? Try as I might, I can’t seem to pull it off without a pick.

    • @sebbityseb
      @sebbityseb 3 роки тому +1

      Yes you can, but it will always sound softer than when you use a pick (because you are using either the pad of your finger or your fingernail to play the harmonic). Try resting the thumb of your playing hand on the string at the harmonic point (whichever one it is that you are trying to play). Then hook the edge of the fingernail of your index finger under the same string, just behind your thumb (so between your thumb and the bridge, but resting against your thumb to start with - you can move to longer stretched positions later on once you have this down). Then "pop/twist/pinch-off" the string with your finger nail. You need to leave your thumb on the harmonics point for a microsecond longer that your index finger in order to ensure that it is the harmonic that gets played by your index finger's nail. If you take it off too early, you will just play an open string. If you leave it on too long, the harmonic will not resonate properly and you will mute the transients. Does this make any sense at all??

    Hello,
    would you use the Long Life as the main equalizer or would you complement it with another 6 or 8 band equalizer? Where would you put it?
    Good demos!

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  2 роки тому +1

      That all depends on your rig, some people don’t need a multiple band EQ and the Long Life would be enough. If you place it early in the signal, it will affect the input signal of drives, modulation, delay etc. If you place it at the end, it has the ability to boost output of the whole chain and amp’s input. There’s no wrong way to use it! Thanks!
