She was very well written, the romance duology (or whatever it's called) w/ Starbuck, as well as her bridge officer/Colonial Warrior duties. but when "The Living Legend" came across...Sheba and Bojay got crammed in, and there wasn't room for Athena. Or something.
@@allanbard6048 It was how she pretty much got written out of the show towards the end of the first season (for pretty much behind the scenes reasons) is where she kind of got doen the dirty.
Looks like they gave her the same hands as the original GI-Joe action figures of the 60s and 70s. Beautiful likeness as you said. My favorite series of my youth. CHEERS, CAMERON.
The body that was used for the prototype was just a fill in. The final body most likely would have been an updated (for the time) off the shelf 1/6 female body from China.
Sadly the Original Battlestar Galactica series get very little attention, I spent quite a long time to modified/retailor the Magestic Studios figures of Apollo and Starbuck clothing, change the bodies, all because I finally found some very nice likeness headsculps in 1/6 scale, but sadly no longer available. Must say that once the uniforms of Magestic Studios B.S.G are refit and better proportioned bodies used, they look quite good in my very personal opinion, even the boots when repainted and detailed make a very nice representation. To date I still love my two semi custom figures, hope someday we get ones made with today's high standards of details and likeness...there always hope!!!

Thanks, yes we have to do with what is available, but think that a high detail 1/6 Apollo and Starbucks is way overdue, the main key is that the likeness and clothing have to be exact for these to be a real hit with collectors.
@@battlestarcollectica7106 the original lost in space gets the same unfair treatment as the original battlestar galactica....until executive replicas made them...there were no 12 inch lost in space figures....but yet the toy industry is always willing to do tons of Star Trek figures....as if there are not enough star trek figures....

Hot Toys (in my opinion) is too deep into SW and Marvel. I think it’s going to be their downfall. Our best bet is Mondo right now. They are just starting to get into 1/6 retro properties. Rumor is that next year is going to be big for them with many announcements!

The 1/6 scale figure looks excellent with a great likeness of Maren. I have the Bif Bam Pow figure, which is nice, but there's no resemblance to the actress. I wish Hot Toys, Threezero or Mondo would release a line of original BSG 1/6 figures. I recently pre-ordered a 1/6 scale figure of Macready from The Thing from Mondo which looks fantastic and came at a good price.

It is interesting to see how much of this, tap the shoulder and run away behavior, that goes on with these toys. I have to wonder how lucrative the sci-fi market is in general. At least as of late, just what are the people at the at all the decision making levels doing. With the failure of the big 3 sci-fi IP's, all sorts of sci-fi toys in the discount bins(eventually to be scrapped). I think relying on these companies to produce what we want, is going to be a very very very... long wait.
The big companies are trapped by their own corporate boards. They just want what is new or hot at the moment. Our best bet are the small players like Super7 and Plastic Meatball (just to name two). They are willing to take a risk on old properties that still have some life to them!

Top Gun: Maverick was a meg hit and something similar could be done with the original BSG property featuring strong likeable characters as opposed to Nu-BSG with everyone being more miserable than the last.
My childhood friend finally moved out of his family house and brought me a few artifacts: a vintage UNCLE badge; a Green Hornet cup; and his Mattel Electronics BSG space alert game. W/the box. And local store price sticker. $22.99 in 1978 was a month's worth of chores.

Lol..."huge" demand? Stop.These companies don't abandon lines because there's "huge" support. They abandon them because of a LACK of consumer support. Even licensing issues can be resolved if there's enough money to be made.
BSG actually did well for Majestic Studios. What killed them was their other lines like The Munsters and Dark Shadows. They cost a lot money to produce (licensing fees) and simply did not sell. The debt started to pile up and it was then over!
That really is a tremendous likeness on the 12" figure. I'm convinced the whole of BSG is cursed!

Athena is a cool, underrated Battlestar Galactica character played by Maren Jensen. She vanished and Anne Lockhart took her place.

The channel is just for fun. I’ve been collecting most of life and have been very lucky finding rare pieces.
Unfortunely Athena was more secondary character on the show, compared Cassiopeia and Sheba who got more screen time.
I know. She had a falling out with the producers and they gradually wrote her out of the show.
