    Thanks for all the videos this year! I'm introducing my young nephews to BSG78!
    I was pretty-much hounded out of the BSG community because, despite trying, I didn't enjoy the family *unfriendly* 2004 version, so finding your channel has been a great help.
    Thanks also for the videos about the Eaglemoss books. I didn't know they had chapters based on BSG78. After your videos, I wanted to read them, so I told the Mrs... and then Father Christmas brought those books down the chimney for me! Thank you!
    I know you're not keen on G80, but more videos focussing on the few things about it that you actually *did* enjoy, or about where they might have gone with it, would be most welcome. It was your video on G80's *AB Craft* that convinced me to subscribe to your show! 😄
    Thanks again, Happy New Year, and... "Launch When Ready!"

      @battlestarcollectica7106 - It's merely an option; you mustn't feel pressured to do anything you don't wish to do. May the Lords of Kobol bless you and keep you! 🙏

      I feel ya' on the fan-war b.s. Personally, I enjoyed both versions ('78 and '03) for different reasons. But, there were self- important fans on both sides who were saying: "No! You cannot support both! You have to pick a side!" So, I dropped fandom in 2003, and decided that I'll like what I'm gonna like. To me, that was when fandom became toxic.
      Sadly, Disney has done very well in fracturing and alienating most of the Star Wars fan base. I thought they were off to a great start with Ep7, and (my alltime fave Star Wars movie) Rogue One. After that, it all went downhill. That said, I definitely would not want to see a Disney version of BSG.

    I remember back then riding my bike up to Toys R Us and spending 16 dollars on the battery operated Colonial Blaster. It seemed so expensive but I had to have it.

    Just goes to show that universal had absolutely no idea what it was doing with what could have been a major money making franchise

      I would accept, at this point, an exact carbon copy of the original show. I mean EXACTLY the same. Same scripts, word for word, same look and style for the characters, same mindset, same props, costumes and models. No reimagining. The only difference would be to make the scripts that never got made into shows and then make more shows under those strict guidelines. I’ve had enough of the “good guys are jerks, bad guys are just misunderstood” garbage.

    Toys R Us didn't exist where live until the very early 1990's. I was familiar with the store from family vacations. My mom and a friend of hers called the company inquiring about a franchise. All they said, "It's not in our plan". That was the late 70's, I guess in the long run that plan went well. :P

    I'm up in Canada and we didn't get Toys R' Us until 1984....apparently September of that year according to the internet. I always wondered why they were so big because they had the worst prices....but as I grew up I found thats what US retailers did as they came to Canada...built their brand by being competitive in the states and then for some reason thinking they were too big to fail up here.....Bass Pro Shop, Cabellas, Target would be other exampels.... how were Toys R' Us prices in the states back in the day? My earliest memory of going there was "Why are these He-man figures $7.99 wen they are $5.99 everywhere else????" Two bucks was huge to a kid at that time.

      TRU put out all the small mom and pop toy stores here in the US with low prices. After that they started to slowly raise prices! Lol! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!

      @@battlestarcollectica7106 were only had one mom and pop toy store here in my town...for all I knew it could have even been a chain...they lasted until about 87 maybe....what killed them was as far as I can remember they didn't do video games....just action figures, games/puzzles, toy cars/dolls and stuffed animals. All the competition was department stores... Sears/Zellers/k-mart and a catalogue store named Consumers Distributing.

    • @timfankell4242
      @timfankell4242 9 місяців тому

      I worked at TRU back in the early '90s and I can tell you they were definitely NOT the cheapest place to buy toys at that time. When customers asked if a certain item was ever going to be on sale, the response was always, "We don't have sales because we have everyday low prices!"

    • @TheSickNeeds
      @TheSickNeeds 9 місяців тому

      @@timfankell4242 I don't recall any places having crazy toy sales until they were liquidating something....and that makes sense for that type of product cus it has a limited window of time where its popular until the next thing comes in and takes over.... but I feel like it'd be a smart move to have a competitive price on figures since sometimes kids buy those with their own savings and if you are going to mark something up have it be the stuff that the adults pay for...ships/playsets/accessories.....but hey I don't own a toy store so I don't run that show....I always found it hard to drag my parents into a toy store....but while in a department store they were willing to ditch you in the toy section while they did their shopping!

    I rewatched this video and I realized that one of the big reason this a great UA-cam channel for BSG is all the great historical information that you supply on the show, the cast, the business of BSG. Awesome. I look forward to watching all of the content and the new videos you produce. Thank you!

    I always assumed the LP's use of the Mattel BSG logo and imagery was a blatant attempt to market the toy line with a record album.
