My dream is for a small company like EXO-6 to pick up the license and produce really detailed figures in small batches. They are doing it with Trek to great success!
Well regarding the Mattel unreleased stuff, among them at least the Galactica prototype did survive and it sold on ebay several years ago for quite a hefty sum so some lucky son-of-a-gun has it somewhere!
I can't tell you how many stories I've head about prototypes and props ending up in dumpsters. Only to see those props resurface. I wonder just how many people in the 'know' make those stories up. Or lie on purpose to satisfy something or other.
I think a lot of employees take stuff home and forget about it (especially back in the day). Then they retire and find a box in their garage filled with cool stuff from 40 years ago! At least that’s what I hope happens!😊
@@battlestarcollectica7106 That has happened in own life. Sadly the 40 year old boxes do not contain missing stuff from my favorite shows. But I can say I still have to find my Black Hole bedsheets, and a Viper pillow my mom made for me. :)
True. No one throws out prototypes. It is a good way to hide that you've stolen something that never got produced, though. In retail corporate insists that damaged goods be thrown out, but the truth is managers just take it home for free...and then it gets revealed it was never damaged, just Reported as "damaged"...same thing.
There was. Guy with a sparkly red robe/cape and a bullet shaped skull that had multiple lights tracing around inside. A Conduit/interface between Baltar and the cylon leadership iirc
I think it was bad marketing on Mobuis models part. They shouldn’t have called them pre finished models. When I think of a model. I think fragile. They should have gone the way of Diamond select/Art asylum. Maybe added some die cast like Eaglemoss. Mobuis should have added some strength and weight to the kits. Those stands should be stonger. The Select Star Trek stands were horrible. I bought some custom ones on eBay. Sorry it wouldn’t let me reply to your comment.
Wow! What an awesome display. The prototype Athena is a beautiful sculpt. I’d love it if Amok Time would try to launch a 3.75 line of original Battle Star Galactica toys. Maybe they could work with Super 7 since they like to pick-up/collaborate on more obscure licenses (the reason they have $20 figures at 3.75 inch scale and 5 points of articulation). I’d be happy to shell out for original Galactica series figures: Adama, Apollo, Starbuck, Tigh, Boomer, Jolly, Athena, Cassiopeia, Sheba, Serina, Boxey and Muffet, Rigel, Omega, Dr. Salik, Dr. Wilker, Baltar, Lucifer, Cylon Centurion, Cylon Commander, Cylon Imperious Leader, and Commander Cain. I Wouldn’t mind seeing Super 7 Buck Rogers in the 25th Century figures either.
@@battlestarcollectica7106 Yes, it’s true. They say they aren’t going to move away from ReAction, and they are still putting out some smaller/nitch demand ReAction product (musicians, The Worst, Sesame Street, Richard Scarry, and Willy Wonka) but it does seem the primary effort is the extremely higher price point Ultimates. When GI Joe ReAction+ O-rings come out, I wonder how long 5 POA ReAction figures will last, indeed.

Wow - Amok Time Toys! They're based here on Long Island. The owner, Paul, was a friend of a friend of mine from way back. It's always fun shopping in their store, which started with quite a lot of retail space before they scaled back a bit to accommodate the online retail side of their business. I didn't know about this Galactica merch, but it doesn't surprise me that they did a great job with the license.
Outstanding work they did On this prototype / display. showing this bridge together with these figures - simply amazing!! Great episode!
Thanks!!
Just beautiful! One question: Is this part of your collection now?
Not yet!
Awesome! I have the Amok Time Starbuck, Apollo, and Cylon and really dig them! I really wish the line had continued. Those prototypes look great!

Good job. That's a piece of history. ❤😂
Thanks!!
The boots are amazing.
yep
They did a really good job on the accessories and costumes!
That's beyond cool! The screens look fantastic!
I agree!! To think it was made well over a decade ago is amazing!!
Well regarding the Mattel unreleased stuff, among them at least the Galactica prototype did survive and it sold on ebay several years ago for quite a hefty sum so some lucky son-of-a-gun has it somewhere!
That is a legendary sale!! I’m glad that something survived!
Any one of these figures would make a great gift for the hard core Galactica fan. The model of the bridge would be the cherry on top!
I agree!!! Thanks for watching!
So Adama players Tetris with someone on the bridge? 😂😂😂 RDJ, probably…
Lol!!😂

I'll take Athena
Athena is now safely in the hands of a true BSG fan!
Cool! Where is it now? 👍
That’s my question as well. Do you know how it was found? Is it with a private collector now? Good video but it invites more questions for sure.
It’s in a private collection…
@@battlestarcollectica7106 - Ah! Say no more... 😉

Baltars side kick!
WoooW, your collection is still getting more awesome!!! The bridge set is amazing, congrats!!! 🤩👍
Thank you 🤗
Mobuis models classic pre finished cylon raider. It’s huge dude. It’s so sweet. Still have mine in box.
I don’t know why it sold so bad! Makes no sense!
Great stuff, thanks for sharing all the Infos

I think you’re right. That “pre-finished” name turned some people off (and the high price did not help as well!).
Just one word: AWESOME!!.
I agree!
You kind of left the part out where you explain being able to film the prototypes, and what happened to them/how they were recovered.
I’m lucky to have some super nice BSG friends!
Wow if only all of this had made it into production! I wish Hot Toys or EXO-6 could take on this line.

Super7 seems to only be interested in Ultimates right now. They are really neglecting ReAction!

That’s breaking news to me! Thanks for that!!
@@battlestarcollectica7106 no problem. This game is going to expose the show to a whole new generation so it's a pretty big deal imo.
Very cool display but anybody with some scratch building model skills can make one with cut styrene or 3D print one.
Today yes, but back then it took a lot of talent to build something like this!
Very true. I could have scratchbuilt that 20 years ago with a little home made cast resin molds for repetitive parts and styrene.

I agree but most 1/6 collectors like molded hair. I think over time the rooted hair does not age well.
