    I would love to see a video on how you connected both flags. Beautiful work!

      Thanks! I lost the footage of it being connected. I simply glued and pin-nailed the two together.

    Thats dedication carving the gadsen flag part. I love it, I did one with half yellow and the other half regular flag. I really like the 3d flames

    Can you tell me the size stencil you used for the gadsen side? I have the larger one but it's way to big for this...thanks oh and your flag is awesome 😎

    What torch head are you using? Great work on the carving!

      I use a regular single head for smaller stuff and a three burner, larger head for big areas. Both are made by bernzomatic. Thanks for watching!!

    How did you put the two parts together? Is the flag part just glued on to the plywood?

    • @sparetimewoodworker1505
      @sparetimewoodworker1505  3 роки тому +1

      It was simply glued to the backer and the frame was added. I lost the footage and it obviously didn't make it into the video. Thanks for watching!

    Do you have a stencil for the edge flames you cut out or do you just free hand them?

      I just drew a flame pattern and cut it out. The first time I made one I looked at some tattered edge flags on Google and tried to simulate what they had done. Hope this helps!

    Awesome work! What blue stain is that?

    What’s the trick in not having glue squeeze out from the front of the flag? I always have an issue with that.

    • @sparetimewoodworker1505
      @sparetimewoodworker1505  3 роки тому +1

      I try to keep the glue low on the stripes. If the glue squeezes up that far, a damp rag will take care of it. Hope this helps!

      @@sparetimewoodworker1505 thank you, I’ll definitely give that a try.

    Can you tell me what length you cut the stripes to for this project?

    • @sparetimewoodworker1505
      @sparetimewoodworker1505  4 роки тому +2

      The stripes were initially cut to 30 inches because I knew I wasn't going to need the full 36 inch stripes. Thanks for watching!

    What do you use for the red?

    • @sparetimewoodworker1505
      @sparetimewoodworker1505  4 роки тому

      I used Minwax water based wood stain, clear tint base and they mixed it to scarlet red at Lowe's.

      Lowe's has discontinued that color

    as cool as this is, there is no way in heck I'd have the patience to carve out the snake much less 50 stars.

      The carving is the part I enjoy most. It's almost like therapy. I can just sit there and solely focus on the carving and all of life's stressers just fade away.

      @@sparetimewoodworker1505 What’s funny is that sanding is like that for me sometimes. I’ve heard more than once how much some woodworkers hate sanding but I enjoy it. I just kinda get lost in it.
