    Thank You all who have taken the time to watch this video. A few of you have pointed out the goof with the stripe and yes I got distracted by making my second video. The mistake was caught as I was filming the closing shots and I felt like someone kicked me the the stomach. But I did go back and I sanded and repainted. The short version of the video shows the corrected union. Thanks you all for leaving a comment and a thumbs up, hell or even a thumbs down that means you at least watched some of the video.

      I had to look at a pic of our flag to notice it. 1 too many short rows of stripes? When I saw this I was thinking of a way to make it physically wave. Not sure if it would work but not all ideas are winners. When you were drilling the holes and placing screws/gluing the stripes what if you drilled a few holes, maybe 6 or 7, all the way thru and put a spring in the holes and cap them with dowels? And a small nail from the back thru the springs would stop sagging. Im thinking of a way to make the frame version wave with a small hand crank. Im a metal fab guy and like to incorporate wood with metal work

    • @josephmorgan8370
      @josephmorgan8370 3 роки тому

      With the correct clear coat it would not matter what specie of wood you use. As long as it is sealed correctly it would last a long time as long as it is protected from the elements somewhat.
      And using pressure treated wood would be hazardous. Some treated material also rejects any stain or paint you attempt to apply after drying and has a tendency to warp pretty bad after penetrating liquids are added.

      I made them on my US CUTTER plotter. They are pretty inexpensive and very reliable.

    I'm in the process of making mine now! So far so good. You are right, lots and lots of sanding to smooth out all of the notches and unwanted grooves. One thing about this piece.....it is very HEAVY. I didn't make my grooves quite as deep as what is shown here so I was able cut my two-by fours in half after squaring off each side. Really cut down on the hanging weight of this awesome looking flag. Prepping to paint now and will post my finished product asap! Thanks again Sean!

    As a sculptor, watching this was awesome! Great job👍 I'm a lampworker, so slow tedious sculpting is part of it and in the end is worth the grind(unintentional pun lol) everytime. Again, well done! ❤✌
