so true
Awesome tune. I love the scene at the table with coffee...
Hell yeah
only one Steve perry
Back when singers and musicians had genuine talent.
Some do now... but... not the famous ones
Still a fresh sounding song over 30 years later.
I played this for my 20 yrold daughter her jaw hit the ground .now all she plays is journey c.d.s u go.girl 😅😅
40 years old
I’m 21 but journey is one of my favorite bands because my mom always played the albums when we were in the car going places, and journey has absolutely aged amazingly and their music is just something else, I had the oportunista to go see then live about two months ago and even without Steve perry they are amazing
@@diatomicfawn1141 I’m so happy to hear you appreciate the music just as much as I did at your age. You’re right, great music ages well. Another couple of bands that have aged well is Toto and RUSH. Of similar jazz fusion origins, you may want to give them a try. Both bands have/had incredible sound, songwriting and musicianship.
Raised my 35 year old son on Journey and he loves it as much as I still do at 71. I listen to my music everyday. So tell your daughter to rock on with the best music around these days.@@j.r9606
There's something about Steve Perry's voice that is addictive. Maybe it's the absolute pureness of it.
Yes Bonnie, Perfection "is" addictive..❤
@@jupiter6647 YOU ARE SO CORRECT!

Steve Perry is the reason why I love 80s music. He's the voice of the 80s.

Mr Steve Perry is 100% 80s meaning of what the 80s were all about.Chris Cornell was the voice of the 90s snd the greatest of all time
@@Chriscornell.1989 Absolutely, Steve Perry is Journey.

Nobody but nobody can hit those high notes like Mr. Steve Perry. Pure magic!
Not only that. He holds them for ungodly long time. He was incredible.
Deen Castronovo does but Yeah, love this era of Journey.
Wrong watch Hugo Valentine the frontman of Voyage Journey tribute band ,Hes actually a bit look a like of Steve and he sings exactly the same like Steve .
@@daddybosstrebc.c9418 Yeah..ok...

Steve Perry the Golden Voice ✨️ 💛 🥇
@Steve Perry , Hey if this is the real Steve Perry , lead singer from/of Journey ??? I got to say, I rediscovered the Song - After the Fall , and I have to say that this song really Rocks still !!! 💯👍☝️💯🍀, even after all these years , it’s still and will always remain a hit and one of my favorites of all time !!! Thanks for writing and singing it ! 💯💯💯🍀☝️
@Steve Perry , may I also ask, what inspired you to write it and is there any back story as to why it was written too ? Just curious, like I said it’s a great song and every time it plays on Pandora radio , I have to turn it up and sing the lyrics to it too ! 💯 , also I just looked it up on UA-cam to watch the video along with all the variations to it too ! Hope life finds you doing well and a Sincere Thanks to you too sir ! 💯👍☝️🍀💯😎
One of the most underrated songs they made
Agreed. And It's probably one of my favorite songs period to sing to in harmony. i do it every time to this song. Beautifuly done.
SO CORRECT
So true. You never hear this on radio ever. Crazy.
Ele foi pouco divulgado no Brasil, conheci o trabalho dele a poucas semanas. Acreditem se quiser.
Yessssss!
What I like about Journey is they do all their own singing. No backup singers. Don't need them. What a voice. Love the whole band!
I totally agree. The harmony is beautiful! This is truly music!! All real!!!
Steve Perry's voice has been a huge part of my life since 1979. His music has seen me through marriage, divorce, birth, death, good times and really bad times. I never thought the day would come when he would be singing again. He is without a doubt my favorite singer of all time. And, he is a humble, kind person shown in every interview he does. Welcome back Steve, you've been missed but never forgotten.
Jersey Girl 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍
Wait, he's singing again??

Steve Perry's voice always brings me back to the 80's, the best time of my life. The 80's were like a long summer day that you never wanted to end.
And then came 1990 ... sad.
John Mitchell YES
Totally agree with you.
The 80's.
I was in Northern California then...
My oh my....it was a sweet time of my life for sure..
An yes...1990 heralded a harder time for me as well. Its been kinda tough at times, but God is good. Love those memories man....very cool.
Best description ever!
What a voice. You can really FEEL the emotion and he’s sitting in a chair.
Steve Perry has a voice of an Angel 😇 💖
I actually was wondering if, Satan himself could've had a better voice? He's jealous no doubt.
At 55 Steve Perry voice still makes me melt. Loved the sound of his voice since I was a teen and always will. Just wish I got a chance to see him sing❤️
This magic of a song is completely underrated 💕

Risky Business party scene...summer, 1983.
To me, this is definitely one of the better songs off of “Frontiers”.
What a song and the voice Steve Perry is one of a kind
Man the Harmony arrangements on this song are insane. The team of Steve and Jonathan was amazing
So much so 🥹
God definitely blessed Steve Perry. Wow...what a gift in that voice.
And he is easy on the eyes.
Amen to that. No Steve, No Journey.
My gosh, you'd think they'd play this on the radio every once in a while but no, NEVER.
This was last of the original Journey. Curtain call.
One of the best guitar solos at the end!
Absolutely! Similar to how Stone In Love takes that left turn into awesomeness
I always thought that this was the missing song from Journey's Greatest Hits.

This or "Still They Ride." I love them both

WITHOUT STEVE THERE IS NO JOURNEY!
The harmonies in this song are just incredible! And without the help of Autotune!
That's what automatically had me hooked and his well held notes towards the chorus. I had my sisters listen this and told them to focus the harmony and they looked at me like was an annoying librarian
ciara smith
Haha. Why? Do they not like Journey?
Honestly this generation of kids is so messed up its unbelievable. All they wanna here is these whack rappers and singers. Im 15 and it really annoys me that I can barely find anybody around my age to listen to music like this without being called stone age. Like wtf. They only like the one song you mainly hear on the radio which is Don't Stop Believin'
ciara smith
Yeah, DSB is a very overplayed song. They have so much good stuff that never gets played on mainstream radio. I'm very grateful for UA-cam!
+Charlie5thumbs Right! I never understood why they also never played only the young. That songs gave me life. I get so hype anytime I hear it come on😁😁 It keeps me calm ironically
One of my top three or four Journey songs. Very underrated song!

Totalmente de acuerdo. Steve Perry no solo tiene una voz hermosa, técnica vocal y unos rangos amplios y poderosos, también transmite gran cantidad de emociones en sus interpretaciones. Esa característica lo destaca entre muchas excelentes voces.

Steve Perry has a voice of gold!
I’m 23 years old and LOVE this song. I remember being a kid sitting in the living room with my momma watching Journey videos and being completely in love! Thankful for those memories and my momma who showed me what real music is!
Good to hear that a millennial such as yourself appreciates the music that I, as a Generation Xer, actually listened to in my youth during the 1980s. In fact, I still have a soft spot for music from the 1980s.

Journey broke up with pure gold, Steve Perry, what a legend man.. Goosebumps...
What a powerhouse voice. Journey with Steve Perry was undeniably the best band ever!
How handsome and such a sweetheart of a man with so much to give of himself a legend lives forever.
if journey isn't in your music collection its not a complete collection
Neal Schon's guitar work in this song is flat out genius.
Journey may carry on with an imitation, but there is only one Steve Perry. He made Journey what it was.
Turn this song up loud in the car and just sing it and let the people judge you. Cuz this song is life.
Absolutely!🎵🎤🎉

Yar, Music's a drug haha True story...
This song is criminally underrated. As I grow older, I find myself increasingly thankful for the opportunity to see Journey live at the Seattle Center Coliseum in 1986.
Extremely difficult to pick a favorite Journey song, but the vocal harmonies on this cut are some of the best Journey has laid down!
Steve Perry IS Journey!!!!
My favorite song and video from Frontiers. Always disappointed that it was not a concert favorite. Steve Perry is just incredible in this video/song
I could only wish this were the real Steve Perry. I would love to meet you and thank you for all the memories. I miss those days very badly. Let it be known I love Journey. Always have, always will.

One of my favorite Journey tunes... Shouldve been a hit!!!
Wow! I didnt know this song peaked at #23...Thanks... But it shouldve been a top 10 as great as it is
BAM ANTHONY It wasn't a hit like Don't Stop Believin' and Separate Ways was though.
Jamison Dean
It's become a hit since. To me it's what makes me think back on Journey-After the Fall. The Bible says every man takes a fall. I believe that. It usually happens later in life. Just listen to Talking Heads "Once In A Lifetime." It's the same story.
I LOVE his dancing at the end. It makes me smile EVERYTIME. LOVE YA STEVIE!!!!!!! ❤❤

This is the only man who could give me goose bumps with that voice! Love Steve Perry always!
At 3:42 Perry at his best putting everything he has into it feelings rating 1000% just exploding out of him
I can play his songs over and over and still never get tired of his beautiful voice. It's so pure and angelic! Forty some years later........
One of my favorite Journey songs. Love Steve and Neal!
This is a great song. Should have been higher on the charts.
Steve's little dance at the end is everything ❤
Great harmony in the chorus by Journey!!!!
Yes, this track & I'll Be Alright Without You have incredible chorus harmony.
My new favorite Journey song.
I'd travel MILES to see Steve Perry! Man's a legend! #BucketList
Mr. "CRUNCH" Steve Smith is a very solid and talented drummer! To me he's the best Journey has ever had. Rock on Steve ... and Steve!!!
holydiver7 Well...yeah.
I was totally against Deen whatever his face is from.go.
Why?
Because he royally screwed up the first live show I saw with him.
I started playing drums that day, once an expert player said "the drums aren't tuned...They hired an actor to play drums." Quote/unquote.
Incredible song. Very few bands could harmonize as well as Journey and the Eagles.
+Jason Zimmerman I couldn't agree more!!!!
Semper Fi Jason.
I love both the eagles & journey, but Poco gets my nod as the best harmonizing group!!!!!
And don't forget Queen!❤
That my friends is the most help of the harmonys is Mr John Cain....

One of the greatest vocalist of all time !
This song features my favorite guitar solo of ALL time! If you love Journey, you already appreciate just how good Neal Schon is.
But to me what’s amazing is how his solos are *consistently* able to take a song to another place emotionally. This song is a perfect example of that.
To me the outro feels like an unraveling, a kind of anguish or desperation that someone might feel at the end of a relationship.
I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times and every time I listen to it , I replay the ending vocals and outro.
A criminally underrated song and solo..,
You nailed it! Well said! Neal and Steve fed off each other’s emotions!
My Favorite Journey song
You never know how good this is until you have been heartbroken ... hard
The look on his face when he sings the lyrics, @ 1:02 “I miss you now...” You can see the longing in his eyes. I love that part. Such an awesome song!
Steve Perry 💕the real voice 🎤of journey! 🎵
I Love to hear Steve Perry's voice. Love this song.

One of my favorite Journey songs, totally underrated,
Completely agree
Some of the best memories of seeing JOURNEY in concert twice( with binoculars!) was watching Schon SHRED guitar strings, could almost see the smoke coming off! No matter how hard Smith banged on them drums, he always looked so relaxed, almost casual! The coup de gras.......was watching Mr. Perry do his Portuguese Stomp all over the stage. I would rather watch that man stand and sing then some choreographed song & dance groups. The rare times he stood still and sang, the soul would just puddle at his feet! His hands clenched, his fingers moving, this man does not simply s-I-n-g...he PHYSICALLY DELIVERS, granting those blessed with ears to be drawn into his all. Singers may come and go but there is NOT NOW and NEVER WILL BE.....anyone that is worthy to touch the spit off of Mr. Perry's microphone!!!
mcnuru I've seen.womem SCREAM when he puts his jacket ON. And how many.men can say that?
mcnuru , WOW, very well said and I totally agree!!!
mcnuru wow, so beautifully and eloquently put! And so true.
Love how you point this out "His hands clenched, his fingers moving, this man does not simply s-I-n-g...he PHYSICALLY DELIVERS, granting those blessed with ears to be drawn into his all." He truly does and I love that intensity.
Mcnuru the jacket drop on the FOTSM tour just tore up the audience. I had never seen it before a year ago...........wow....my cheeks were red at my computer!

Yes and it's one of my absolute faves 💓
Man, the good ole' days when MTV was worth watching everyday. Now MTV is just shit....lol! This is one of my favorite albums I rocked throughout '83, Journey's "Frontiers". That album is amazing from beginning to end. Neal Schon is the man!!!!
Racine Evans , Back in those days I had MTV on from the time i woke up until the time i went to bed. If i was cleaning and one of my favs came on i would sit down and watch it. They really need to get back to that.
We are so blessed to have lived and growing up back in the 1980's! They don't make music like this anymore. Huge Facts.
Oh you mean back in the days when the "M" in MTV stood for "Music"?
Now? It been horrible for 30 years.
He looks so cute when he's alone in the window :)
So now love is gone
I can't go on, love is gone
I want to say
Now it's just too late
Waited far too long
[Chorus:]
Should have told you then I knew
Should have told you right
From the start
But the words
Didn't come out right
So I'll tell you
Straight from my heart
You meant more to me
Than I let you see
You held on somehow
All your tenderness
And your sweet caress
I miss you now
But a headstrong stubborn man
Only works it out the best he can
Valentines he never sent
There's not enough time
He's workin' man
Can't stop fallin'
Heartache callin'
Finds you after the fall
Saints or sinners
Take no prisoners
What's left after you fall
No not much no
Oh I say love is gone
I can't go on
Now love is gone
I want to say
But it's just too late
Waited far too long
[Chorus]
No, no not much
After the fall
After you fall
After you fall
No, no not much
After the fall
After you fall
After you fall
Such an outstanding frontman. None of the others were able to play his part.
Perfect song. Perfect song. I ♥ 80s music.
Excellent song, love Neil Schon!
Danesha Harney I love 80's music too! Journey has become one of my favorite 80's rock and roll bands over the past couple months. Them and Heart have become my favorites this year. I've loved both bands since March. Can you imagine how incredible it would have sounded hearing Steve Perry and Ann Wilson sing a duet back in the 80's?

My goodness all the emotion in this song just Love Steve Perry
I hope that one day Steve and the band members are able to reconcile their differences because I would love to see a true comeback tour. I can't even imagine how awesome that would be. I just can't see myself going to a Journey concert without Steve at the front, because it's not the same. But if they do reunite, I'd be begging my mom to buy me tickets in a heartbeat.
I guess for now I'm just reduced to keeping this band's memory alive by blasting those amazing vocals and guitar work from my truck on my way home from school xD
+Amanda Rodriguez I know for a fact that will never happen. I hold no blame on Steve I think he is doing what he wants to do and not under the backstabbing that went on. Neal is and always will be jealous of Steve, Neal is in control of this so called new Journey that continue to do all the song's Steve sang as the lead singer. The don't pull in the packed stadiums along with being a embarrassment to themselves. I will forever remember the .many times I was able to be in the position of seeing the true Journey. As a California girl so many great bands and solo artist welcomed you in to enjoy the music. No copycat artist back then. All good music with a meaning.
+Amanda Rodriguez Absolutely true..
+Amanda Rodriguez You are so sweet! They getting back together is very difficult to happen; but Steve Perry will release a new solo album this year 2016! Check his fan asylum/Steve Perry page.
Very well put Amanda. A true reunion tour with Steve Perry would sell out every arena they went to for as many nights as they wanted to stay. I know I'd be standing in line to get my ticket!!! From what I understand, Steve Smith is currently back on the drums with them so maybe we aren't too far away and something really amazing could happen. DOESN'T HURT TO HAVE HOPE!
