we call them anti foulers they are used when an engine has blow by in the cylinder and keeps fouling out the plug with oil from the blow by so the antifouler pulls the plug out farther from the cylinder to help keep it away from the oil and prevent a miss in that cylinder. Enjoying the channel keep up the good job. Arkansas Dave
Something to add to your toolbox: I had a 60's vehicle once that would start and die as soon as the starter disengaged. Turned out, on the starter solenoid the small wire on the left went through a ceramic resistor to the keyswitch and the one on the right went straight to the coil giving a hotter spark during starting. My resistor had gone out, causing the engine to die when the solenoid cut out.
I see people call them different names. Where I'm from they're known as "De-Foulers" Now that there air cleaner is some sweet piece of work eh?? LOL. Hello Again From Kentucky, The “NonFoulers” were a band aid approach to dealing with cylinders that had problems with oil blow by which could also include bad valve stem seal’s which somewhat kept the engine oil from fouling the spark plugs. I have used those things before myself with both good and bad results. From your compression test that I had seen, I would try to replace the valve stem seals first.
@@JMRRebuildersIt’s been quite a while since I had seen or heard mention regarding the “NonFoulers” until the question was asked. I’m not sure if Dorman still offers those things these days, But before the fuel injection engines become very common, Once the older engines reached a good number of miles the “NonFoulers” could buy you a bit of time until you could deal with the valve stem seals or whatever you chose not to do that you probably should have done. Yeah I will stick with that explanation.(LOL).
