Styx - Too Much Time on my Hands 1996
"Return to the Paradise Theater" Live concert at the Resemont Horizon in Chicago 1996, Illinois, USA
Tommy Shaw - Guitar, Vocals
Dennis DeYoung - Keyboards
James Young - Guitar
Chuck Panozzo - Bass
Todd Sucherman - Drums
At 78 this song still gets my blood flowing.
Are you an air guitar guy or drummer?
I tend to morph back and forth.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tommy Shaw is top notch and what's as amazing as his talent is how he NEVER ages!!!
just saw Styx tonight at the hard rock in northern indiana- amazing, Tommy Shaw is a vampire. he's absolutely timeless
@@GmanftpG59dude awesome lol
I noticed that too. His youth. 👍
Tommy Shaw is one of the most underrated frontmen in rock history
Hell yeah!! I've seen him live, he is amazing!!!
Dennis wasn't the frontman.. He was one of the frontman.
Agreed
Why is he underrated? i have never once heard that
No one is underrated. Just an overused comment on UA-cam
Some people just love to sing. Tommy Shaw is one of them.
Seen Styx 3 times...always a good show. You can tell they're having fun up there...never routine!
OMG - That's exactly what I was going to write. Tommy Shaw is really a great guitarist. I appreciate that a lot more now that I'm not in my 20s driving a long commute and hearing Styx all too often. They were one of the bands that lifted us out of the disco desert of the 70s
+1 and to still be able to do that guitar solo that well that many years later, and be just as good as it ever was... yes.
Tommy Shaw has great vocals! Damn he sounds great live!
A Young Todd Sucherman Killing It Here on Drums!
neil peart todd sucherman tie for 1st as drum gods
He's a beast!
Tommy Shaw hasn’t lost his touch AT ALL! Even today he can still got them notes and has the same Enthusiasm
Those guys really seem to enjoy themselves. A breath of fresh air.
i’ve got dozens of friends and the fun never ends, as long as JY is buying!
Why are these guys not in the rock and roll hall of fame yet??
I've been saying that for years and years
Oh but Jay Z and a bunch of other rappers are 🤮🤬
I saw this band - Gowan instead of DDY - a couple weeks ago, 27 years after this video, and they were every bit as good if not better. Tommy, JY, Chuck, and Todd Sucherman have been kicking ass nonstop.
Love this song and many others , STYX plays ..
they are Awesome Group !
Love, love LOVE this song and Mr Tommy Shaw.
Tommy Shaw--true showman and entertainer. Such energy!
Have seen them 6 times they do not disappoint. Even without Dennis D Young they still kick ass
I love them even without Dennis.
Yes, but they are misin Dennis.
Im a Metal head but run iinto this Styx album.........As a kid I loved it, whats not to like its an epic song.
Love that solid friendship between Tommy & JY.. Adorable! In three more years Dennis is gone & even now, Styx is still going strong ❤️!
How can you not love the rhythm of this song?
Spring of 2020.
Everybody is in quarantine.
We have too much time on our hands.
Paradise Theater has to be one of the greatest rock albums in history! I got it in 1981, just after I got my Rogers R-380 drumkit, and I HAD to learn these songs! Yeah, it was hard, and with a Zildjian A series Ride, Crash-Ride, Thin Crash, and New beat Hi Hats, I just got, not long before I got this record, I had alot to do with only a little in the lines of cymbals! I played my ASS off, and damned if I didn't get this WHOLE ALBUM DOWN PAT! These days, I still have my Rogers R-380 set, now with Paiste 2002 cymbals, and a bunch of them, so I can easily play those famous licks! Just plain incredible band, incredible music--when EVERY SONG is as good as the others, it means it's a perfect album--and this one was! STYX FOREVER!
Absolutely amazing! What a performance!
Styx is amazing. Tommy Shaw is the shit!!!
love this whole concert! ❤️
Styx is the first band I ever saw live in the late 1970's. Now I feel old lol. By the way one of Tommy's best guitar solos in my opinion. ROCK ON!!!!
Don't feel old feel privileged
I am happy to say I saw Styx last week. Riverfront.... Louisville Kentucky. They come around a lot. I have seen them several times in the last five years... usually with REO. They are all great and it's good to see real band's out there.
70s-80s BANGING ROCK LIVES ON FOREVER!!!!!!
Saw the on this tour... It was amazing.
the amazing tommy shaw ♡♡
This song and performance kick some serious a$$ - simply epic.
Mr. Tommy Shaw to me. Lovely. Thank you.
When music was at its best! Artists nowadays have to lip sync everything. The bands/artists of the 70s, 80s and some of the 90s don't, because they're REAL. ARTISTS.
Right on!
That's it!!..
they are polished pros and a classic rock song with flair and excellent guitar leads
Doug H. in VA you hit the nail on the head!
Paradise Theater was the first cassette I ever purchased. This was the song that blew my very young mind
Tommy Shaw is one of the most underrated guitarists ever (I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true.) he was the one inspired me to pick up the guitar, and the solo to too much time on my hands got me inspired to play lead! I loved the feel of the solo! Tommy is such a great player! Def in my top 5 influences next to EVH and Ace Frehley
Ace but yes Tommy is great as EVH!
Love Tommy he's one of the best me and my oldest son grew up together listening to Styx
tommy shaws guitar tone is smokin'!!!
This was fucking awesome. I love the original, but this up-tempo performance is the knees of bees. Thank you for posting this.
Love styx my favorite album
Is equinox great year 1975
Great songs great album.
Joe little
LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Great band!
STYX is top 5 best bands ever.
Absolutely amazing!! Drummer is incredible!
Have just been to my first ever styx concert and didn't leave my lounge room. Thanks styx and youtube. Fan bloody tastic. Come to hervey bay here in Australia .
Best band I have ever seen live, and I have seen a lot of bands.
Don Fawcett they are The Godfather's of live concerts period no questions asked!
Debatable
This performance was great because they appeared to be having a lot of fun.
Great song, written from an idea from a fellow customer, at a bar in Niles Michigan (about 34 minutes from my house) when Tommy lived here. This is the year John passed away from cirrhosis and subsequently, it was the last year that STYX was original. John was falling very ill (that's why they don't show him much close up in this concert) and still played an awesome show! The same year Todd Sucherman stepped in and has been the drummer for 30+ years. as retired professional drummer for 30 years in Los Angeles, I can only wonder what it's like to play the same 95% same songs for three decades, no wonder he's kickin ass!
Ill never forget seeing them in the early 2000's at the Wisconsin state fair. One of the best concerts I've been to
Tommy Shaw is the bomb!!!!!! Love love love him !!!!!!!!
One of the sadder rock stories....! Such a talented bunch. Not too late guys, put aside the past and get back together. Millions miss you and want to hear you all together again....! What's stopping you....too much time on your hands?
+QBAN2010 seen them late 2015,,,,chuck played couple songs with them,,,,,seeing them again this may,,,,,they rocked
They are together and the best ever. Fuck Dennis
QBAN2010 completely happy without DdY
Dennis was a drama queen tyrant and the one who contributed to the breakup. I like the guy but he wasn't ready to roll with the rest of the band.
How do you know this?
@@Fiona2254
I still crank this up on the car radio with all the windows down
Me too---glad to "share" with those nearby!
Damn these guys are good.... thats all live!
Tommy makes me drool.
Tommy and JY make my heart melt.
Their interactions always destroy my bromance heart.
I'm always watching for their exchanges because they're so sweet. Their friendship is so solid. #friendshipgoals
Inolvidable, han pasado mas de 30 años desde que conocí a STYX y nunca me cansaré de volver a levitar con este tema . Perú los recuerda siempre.
tommy shaw ilove you!!!
I dig It Man ! Funky tunes, go Tommy and crew !
Supergroup styx amazing
Who else was in high school in 1981
HA! Who would think 2015 and LIVE with Def Leppard, 2nd song into the show with this song, Tommy stood up at the keyboard and turned the place into a 3 hour PARTY..... Great times!!!
AmazinglyCritical Or whomever is on that keyboard.... I think they did everything you could possibly do to a keyboard.... 2 weeks later and still listening that concert was so damn good..... lol
+AmazinglyCritical Dennis DeYoung
TheRealDealYTPs In 2015? That would be Lawrence Gowan
3:34 I like when Chuck and James join to dance to the music together.
And that's how you end a song!
Brilliant all the way through
I love you guys you still for me one of the greatest american bands from Carlos from Portugal
Magic 😂 c’est toute mon adolescence ce track, j’adore et que de souvenirs . Que c’est beau! Merci les gars 😅👌👍
Wow, nice, perfect ❤
Saw them in poughkeepsie ny few years back simply awesome
Always loved this album....
⚡ I like this song very much⚡
I saw this band in the late 70's and is amazingly talented. So young looking. Cute as a button. I know that wasn't called for. Hannah looks like his twin at this age.
I DO LOVE THIS SONG, ALL THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS ARE GREAT!! !RAK3-7
2023 and Still I Got Too Much TIME on my Hands!!!
I WISH I HAD THAT PROBLEM

todd always plays 100%, cat is working back there on those drums
My favorte album listen back my high school days. Class of 1983 in Iowa. Not far from Clear Lake Iowa small town Forest City Iowa. One greatest video ever. Truly enjoy the song. A plus.
use to listen to styx all the time. I'm class of '80 from the twin cities. they are comimg in June to Minnesota but I don't drive so I will probably miss them again.
Saw this tour at Starlake Amphitheater in Pittsburgh.
They totally kicked ass.
When bands could actually entertain
( True musical Artist).
Love this song and this video!
Love it!!!!!
Whooow wonderful. Excellent band and excellent song.
Impressionante como é igual ao ano de 1981!! 🎉❤ Nada aqui envelheceu, somente foi o tempo que passou. Sensacional!! 😂❤🎉
Holy shit blow my hair back....this is BEST PERFORMANCE👏👏👏
Wish they would come to the midwest again,Damn, thy are good!
Tommy Shaw was Styx ❤️
yes tommy shaw is styx! I've loved him since I was 14 I'm 54 now.
Janette Spencer really? Is that why hes not an original member and wrote exactly 1 of their 8 top 10 hits
right on Scott
The bottom line is this was the best lineup.
every time I hear this song I can't get that fucking Paul Rudd out of my head, even when TS is bringing it
Tommy is for sure the best, Love ya Man
Cool suits.
Fact. Good man. You are The President for a reason. Thanks much.
Niceto see you do. You do well.
Dennis thought he was the shit . He has literally said that he made Styx who they were . Yeah.. uh huh .. One Album Dennis ... " MR ROBOTO " That one kinda killed it for Styx. They went from great Rock tunes to 80's power ballads .
Agree 100%! DDY tried to sue for the use of the name Styx after they SUCCESSFULLY toured without him! He chose not to tour but couldn’t take it when they did so well without him! Tommy & JY got the Styx name and DDY “won” the right to be Dennis DeYoung! Tommy is an outstanding front man!!! DDY is an egomaniac and a control freak!
All of their biggest hits are from Denis Deyoung. He is STYX!!!!
Dennis is STYX you foo. He wrote damn near all the big hits.
Dennis was the shit.little too lame for Tommy but I bet Tommy still cashed the checks
Dennis was the original fucking member write most of their hits but Credits For Tommy Shaw to keep the Band alive!!!!!!
!996... damn, that was 20 years after I saw them in concert.
I'm going to see them play in Wendover, NV in January. Granted, it's not the original line up.... but I ain't losing sleep over that one
By a whisker. 2 bags i call her. Busted me for another bag. Respect her. Can't stay home and you can't leave here. Appreciate her.
Cantam e tocam pra caralho. Excelente banda.
All the best for you guys amazing band from from the best time of music from Carlos Portugal
Rocking Baby!!!!!
I am so grateful to be alive today. My girlfriend saved my life last night. This is a selfie I took in the emergency room after having a severe allergic reaction to almonds. I went into anaphylaxis, meaning my face, my lips, my eyes, my tongue, and my throat all started swelling up rapidly, making it almost impossible for me to breathe. I also had a rash all over my entire body, and I was extremely red. Staying alive had never felt more difficult. At one point, my nasal passage was completely blocked, and it was getting more and more difficult to breathe. They shot me up with Benadryl, steroids, they gave me a breathing tube, and even other stuff that I can’t even remember, and it caused all of the swelling and the rash to go away. Because this was a severe allergic reaction, I need to continue taking steroids and Benadryl for the next week, because it is possible that the allergic reactions could come back at any point over the next week. The steroids and Benadryl make me feel like a zombie, and I really want to take care of my health, so this will be my main focus over the next week. I want to thank my amazing girlfriend, who made the decision to take me to the emergency room the second I started feeling itchy. I was hesitant about going, because I didn’t even want to believe this was actually happening. If it weren’t for my girlfriend driving me to the emergency room only minutes after eating the almonds, there is a good chance that I wouldn’t have made it according to the doctor. This has been without a doubt the hardest few days of my life, but I also look at them as the most important few days of my life. These moments have reminded me about what’s really important in life, and it has made me so grateful to even be here on this earth. I will be prioritizing my health over the next week, and I’ll post updates about how I feel. Thank you all for being patient during these difficult times. This week has been NUTS (too soon for jokes? 😅)
Glad you made it pal!
