When I look back at all the bands I listened to in my youth, these guys, though just entertainment, brought me through 5 stepdads and 3 pretenders with my moms, and countless public skewls as the new kid
Saw them in 1978 at the Civic Auditorium in Omaha, NE - Renegade was blowing the roof off of that building to put it mildly! Great show & showmanship by all band members.
@@mikeamos6720 Yep, both Panozzo brothers (Chuck and John) co-founded Styx along with Dennis DeYoung! John was the drummer until he was replaced by Todd Sucherman in the mid 90s. Sadly John is no longer with us. However, John's legacy more than lives on in Todd, who is easily one of the best drummers in the business.
Actually the best overall show I ever saw was Melloncamp on the scarecrow tour. I've waited fir someone to play me a better show but it has held up for 40 years. Having said that I've seen these guys 40 times and only one bad show in the bunch, and if you mention bad shows tge guys in the band will always say the same. Dallas Texas I'm the Cotton Bowl and they tried to pull off the Killroy thing. Did not work and they had 80,000 passed off patrons
Back in the day, many denied that they liked Styx. Same ones saying why not in Hall of Fame. How time changes. Always been my favorite even with John Curleski instead of Tommy. But Tommy completed Styx
in the words of their tour manager from the behind the music special “Tommy Shaw turned Styx from a band who stands and plays, to a band that actually entertains an audience” if it wasn’t for Tommy, Styx would not nearly have reached the stardom level that they achieved like 4 triple platinum albums in a row (pieces of eight was basically his album because blue collar man and renegade were their biggest singles written by him!) and a sell out paradise theater tour and reunion paradise theater tour which was considered to be the hottest top selling live act in 1980 to 1981

My older brother went but he was 7 years older. I had to wait until Mr. Roboto to see them. Not the same. Too much theatrics. Not enuff rocking. Disappointed. Too fast, they need to slow it down and put the dotted 8th notes where they go. Tis another reason I have no desire to see bands live, they always fuck their songs up
People that didn't live in 70/80s missed what rock and roll is about .
The opening of this song never gets old.

I just didn't realize how great music of the 70s and 80s was and still today Styx is one of the tops of all time

I seen Styx in July 2021 & March 2022 and will see them again in 2 weeks September 16th Have been following them since 1972 (2/22/72)
All these years later I love Tommy Shaw❤
Fantastic performance. I was never a huge fan of Styx during their heyday, but I have to give them credit for this one.
Queen had Bohemian Rhapsody, Styx has RENEGADE!! and it jams.
Goddamn, this is what a rock show should always be!!! Giving the paying fans there money's worth. Great stage performers!
Saw Styx in Raleigh NC back in August 2022 at Walnut Creek. One helluva of show. Tommy is killing it that guitar 🎸 😊
First time hearing it on the radio the other day. Glad I found it.. awsome
One of the best live performance bands ever. STYX
I grew up in the 60' s seen them in concert kick ass smoked a lot back then, hell yeah.
I can listen to Tommy all day
Increible lo que STYX hacia en el escenario, una banda super original y con toda la energía rockera, ahí esta la muestra! Long live Rock and roll!!
