I have a car that needs to be painted and I've been back and forth with several color ideas. Thanks to you I've settled on Flat black with a dark blue pearl clear coat.
Now you've gone and done it. Red is my favorite color! This is a head turner for sure. I look forward to checking these pigments out myself. Great video
Good choice speeding up the base lol. Real time was like watching it dry! You got a cool approach to content with the demonstrations. Makes me want to try some pearls! Thanks for the content.
Dude i just love your vids..i am in my 70s and i am an oldschool..love the new, you should teach high school shop classis...you have the right voice to teach
JUST A SUGGESTION, I DONT KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS ALREADY MENTIONED, BUT MAYBE A SMALL SECTION OF WHITE ALONG WITH THE BLACK 2 SHOW CONTRAST MIGHT BE HELPFUL. IM A PAINTER BY TRADE AND UR VIDEOS ARE VERY HELPFUL FOR VISUALS. AS A PAINTER I HAVE AN IDEA WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE BUT 2 SEE IT IS VERY BENEFICIAL. ALSO VERY HELPFUL 2 SHOW A CUSTOMER WHO CANT MENTALLY SEE THE VISION. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, LOOKING FORWARD 2 MORE VIDEOS
Thanks for doing all of these experiments so we don't have to 😉. I like the look over the black base because I think the shimmer doesn't show as much off the Apple colored basecoat (of course, might be different in person rather than through the camera) ... kind of makes me wonder if it would show up more if you used the Senshi Red pearl but over a darker red Rustoleum like Colonial red or Cranberry???
love these videos, i got a suggestion. Can you the pearls over different colors. So that we can see what a red pearl would look like over red, blue, green, orange, yellow, teal. Obviously it is a lot of work, but I think people would love the videos and the reference.
The dark cherry color would probably turn more heads. But people that get close to the lighter color red would be impressed as you get that sparkle and shine.
Just stumbled on your channel the other day. Gotta say I really appreciate the work and tests you put in for this. I dont see a lot of other channels do this type of testing and so often too. Keep up the good work!
You're amazing , you're amazing at the job / paint jobs you do , and for making these videos for us 🙏 Thank you 🙏 Both came out great , will vote for the black one tho 🤩👌
Using the intercoat clear mixed with the pearl then straight clear topcoat will give you the ability to wet sand and buff without your pearls moving around on you. 3 stage Just for the people that don't know. 😉✌
I'm old lol, I was a kid in the 60's and candy paint jobs were the rage and I still love them. I have a friend in NY that still does a candy paint job occasionally and the size of the Flakes are huge compared to the pearl you use. One problem guys used to have on the race cars is after any paint or body damage is recreating the same look when you're working with eight or ten layers. I think the pearl would be easier to match. I'm loving these tests, maybe try your hand at an old school candy test compared to a pearl? Costs, time, prep, material, it would be interesting
It's Beautiful, even more on the black base! Is there a big difference from a gloss black or mat black base coat? Excellent work, thank you for sharing.
Black base looks dope. I'm impressed with how good it looks for a spray paint base coat. I'd like to try this method on a mailbox or helmet or something. I really want to see how long it lasts. I see this peeling like a white Ford lol. It looks really good though.
Over the black is so close to the color I’m looking for for my project #midnightmaroon. A little deeper maroon color would be perfect. This gives me a great starting point for dialing in the exact custom color I’m looking for. Thanks a ton GT! As always you are killing it!
Yeah the pearl over the black looks sick! Im impressed how it came out using rattle can base. A buddy painted my old chopper fre years back and went with black base and over that red metalflake, actual metal flake brand flake in the size globel a med size and it came out to a sparkly deep red it was absolutely beautiful but didnt he whine about how much clear he had to use to cover that flake, he said he made like 8 or 9 coats to get it where you couldnt feel the flake then he cut n buffed it wow. but man o man it was a deep shine it looked like the flake was still wet. He was a body man at a dealership but Niether of us had any experience with the big metalflake so we were winging it. looking back maybe after a couple good coats you should wet sand to knock the flake peaks off then one more good coat of clear and whalah beauty...? Vs 8 or 9 coats.
Love what you’re doing with these tests! Can you try the glow in the dark pigments. Just wondering if they actually glow. Thanks man! Keep up the good work!
That red on red pear looks like my wheels.. I had them powder coated Lollipop Red. If the sun isn't shining, they just look red, but in the sun, the metallic flake looks just like this test fender
Does the glitter effect get dull if you spray a clear coat over top? I really want to keep the finish you have created. I don't want to take away from the glow the mics powder provides. Thanks for all your hard work making these videos. It really has helped me.

Black is the winner.

Putting black base coat and the senshi pearl in my eBay cart as soon as he showed it over the black

Black base w/ Senshi red clear coat is the winner 👍🏽💯
Black definitely looks exotic like some expensive paint !!

Black with the red perils is the winner. That combo is money!

Great video
Definitely the black base coat, learning a lot on you're channel
Good choice speeding up the base lol. Real time was like watching it dry! You got a cool approach to content with the demonstrations. Makes me want to try some pearls! Thanks for the content.
You are the winner. Love how you experiment. It is evident that you love what you are doing. Persue a career in it!
I love how simple you make it to understand love what you do and your technique 💪🏾
GT thanks for your videos. I appreciate you taking the time to demonstrating the eye candy over different color bases. Excellent sir!
The black base Wow!! 🔥🔥🔥
Really enjoying this series. Enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof too!
Dude i just love your vids..i am in my 70s and i am an oldschool..love the new, you should teach high school shop classis...you have the right voice to teach
Black base seems to be the usual winner over spraying pearls that are the same or similar to the base coat colors.
Dude. That black with the pigments looks killer.
JUST A SUGGESTION, I DONT KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS ALREADY MENTIONED, BUT MAYBE A SMALL SECTION OF WHITE ALONG WITH THE BLACK 2 SHOW CONTRAST MIGHT BE HELPFUL. The black base looks great. I wonder what a grey base would look like with a pearl/clear.
That is a gorgeous color over the red. Both look good. It all depends on what a person wants. The bottom looks like a candy brandywine.
I like t over the black base, it really looks good.
Black base- winner!

The black base with the senshi Red looks awesome
Black base looks 👌🏼
Definitely black. Be interesting to see this Senshi red over a heavy matte black
Just stumbled on your channel the other day. Gotta say I really appreciate the work and tests you put in for this. I dont see a lot of other channels do this type of testing and so often too. Keep up the good work!
Over black, much like the green pearl you did a few vids back, looks stunning. Black makes a great base for pearls it seems!
Great Videos!!!
I am hoping that you keep making them!
I sprayed apple red yesterday. It was VERY bright and nice! Camera here is playing tricks with me I know. I love that color!

THE BLACK GIVES THE APPLE RED , REAL LOOK 🎉🎉🎉😍😍🍭🍭🍭🍭😍😍
Good tip on the activator 🙏🏽
Using the intercoat clear mixed with the pearl then straight clear topcoat will give you the ability to wet sand and buff without your pearls moving around on you. 3 stage Just for the people that don't know. 😉✌
Exactly! That's the way it should be!
Here, I skip that step because it's only a test fender to see the color
I'm old lol, I was a kid in the 60's and candy paint jobs were the rage and I still love them. convince me to paint my own motorcycle now the hard part is deciding what base to go with thanks.
Like them both but the black base is really nice 👍
They both look good but the Pearl over the black base looking way nicer ✨🤙

It's Beautiful, even more on the black base! Is there a big difference from a gloss black or mat black base coat? Excellent work, thank you for sharing.
They both look amazing!
Black looks Amazing!
Black is it! Looks great!
Black is the best 👍😎
Black base looks dope. I'm impressed with how good it looks for a spray paint base coat. I'd like to try this method on a mailbox or helmet or something. I really want to see how long it lasts. I see this peeling like a white Ford lol. It looks really good though.
Looks great!! Do a top coat of clear with no pearl at all to give it a deeper look 😁
I’m like the way the black came out.
Looks Amazing over Black.
I really like the results over black. What I would love to see, is over a metallic silver base.
Both look good but the black base really stands out!
That black base 👌
The black base looks best!
Over the black is so close to the color I’m looking for for my project #midnightmaroon. A little deeper maroon color would be perfect. This gives me a great starting point for dialing in the exact custom color I’m looking for. Thanks a ton GT! As always you are killing it!
Black base with that Red Candy ❤
The black looks amazing can you do the whole fender. With a flow coat and a cut and polish. Because that shine would be amazing

Looks awesome! Let's see some rustoleum sunburst yellow with some gold pearl.
I like both but I think the black base is the winner
It's just hard to beat black base when spraying pearls lol 🔥😎 good job my friend! 👌🏾

Love the back and red.....100 💯
Love what you’re doing with these tests! Can you try the glow in the dark pigments. Just wondering if they actually glow. Thanks man! Keep up the good work!
The BLACK is 🔥 🔥 🔥
In black base looks awesome
Red is very good, but the black is great!
The black impressed me
Are you using tack clothes between coats? All these test are coming out super clean.
That red on red pear looks like my wheels.. I had them powder coated Lollipop Red. If the sun isn't shining, they just look red, but in the sun, the metallic flake looks just like this test fender
Looks amazing buddy
I prefer it over the black base, it makes it easier to actually see the pearl. Kinda makes it look like it has a space effect on it.
Does the glitter effect get dull if you spray a clear coat over top? I really want to keep the finish you have created. I don't want to take away from the glow the mics powder provides. Thanks for all your hard work making these videos. It really has helped me.
Great now I have to order SENSHI RED Pearl for a future build. Lol Thanks for the great content
I want to try the "ghost red" over black (and white) and compare it to senshi red
@@GTsPerformance Oh nice I wonder over black if they look the same.
Thankful I found your channel
Black base is better! Love your video! Me and the wife watch you together!
