Ugh. This song hits different when you know Evan is supposed to be singing it alone, because it's all in his head. It's like the Evan are imagining each other. I'm crying.
I look at it from a parents perspective. They had this son they lost literally and figuratively, and Evan is telling them these stories to make him better. For a parent to hear exactly what they needed when it wasn’t true is what’s heartbreaking for me. That culminated in words fail but here really gets him.
Hannah looks incredibly offended at their sheer talent. Like, “how DARE you be this good, I can’t fully appreciate all four of you at the same time and this is not oKAY,,,”
Hannah said she almost cried...jeez, I did, too. Though much like Stephen Colbert mentioned when first interviewing Ben, I basically cried through the whole show anyway; who didn't?
Literally had me laughing out loud after reading this. Oh yeah, that "brotherly love" ie "Come help me bro/step-bro, I'm stuck in the dryer/under bed." 😂
Alex Lacamoire is a powerhouse. He's arranged Hamilton, In the Heights, and Dear Evan Hansen. He's also done all of the arrangements for the DEH videos that they've done and the Hamilton cuts (First Burn, Found / Tonight, etc). He's just so talented, so I'm glad you gave him a shoutout at the end of the video also :)
About half way through their performance I thought this has got to be Alex arranging this. He weaves vocal arrangements like no one else in the game at the moment. He is simply a genius.
That high harmony in "shines on my face" followed by how they all almost melt back into singing the same note in a very subdued in simple way.... I just replay that part over and over and over.
Totally agree. It's so sad (because he is just utterly lonely and none of the things he is saying is true) and hopeful at the same time. I tear up every single time.
Sam Tutty is so incredible - he got cast as Evan straight out of drama school and won an Olivier for it! I feel very lucky to have seen him on the West End, and can't wait to see what show he does after DEH.

This just radiates the energy of a mother so happy to see her usually anxious son perform in front of a crowd for the first time. You're just so precious and I wish I had a vocal coach like you when I was growing up through music class.
When she was getting excited in the first verse, I was like 'she ain't ready for Stephens high notes' she wasn't. No one was. I was lucky enough to see him on tour when they were in Atlanta! He remains one of my favorite Evans to this day.
I saw him as Evan on tour also, when he was the understudy for Connor, Jared and Evan. He was incredible. I would have loved to see him do the other ones too
The, Hannah saying, "I'm fine." while simultaneously captioning "British Editor: She's not." was Perfection, and aptly described how we all felt watching this. 😅 This is an immensely rewatchable reaction. ❤
Sam Tutty is definitely my favourite Evan after Ben, his depth and vibrato is just superb. Plus the fact he's British means he naturally has a stronger pronunciation of his consonants which I feel adds such a sense of vulnerability to his vocal.
I'm a simple woman. I see DEH and Hannah, I click. Also, four moms from DEH sang Does Anybody Have A Map? It's very similar to this video! So, that's always a suggestion. :)
I have never heard any Dear Evan Hansen songs up until this point. THIS SONG ALONE is enough to convince me to download the whole album right away, it was that good!
To answer your question, Robert Markus was never on Broadway. He’s a very prominent actor on the Canadian musical theatre scene though. Honestly, Robert Markus and the entire Toronto production of Dear Evan Hansen don't get enough love. I was bawling when I saw it in May 2019. Would love if you could react to Markus' version of Waving Through a Window.
Oh goodness....I hated it. I didn't shed a single tear. Robert was sub par, the dad growled every note, Zoe (understudy) was boring and sang the most exaggerated diphthongs I've ever heard (awful). Honestly, I was bored when I wasn't annoyed.
I love this arrangement. It’s just amazing. The climax is just...... I CAN’T. The way it builds. It makes my heart hurt it’s so good. Every hair on my body is raised.
The way I swear I've seen this over like 20 times me and Hannah have the same reactions and she knows more about this then I definitely do but they just sound like angels and this never gets old I swear I come back to it at least twice a month plus Hannah is so fun to watch in the rest of her videos too
Hannah, I watch this all the time because of your reaction to this AMAZING rendition of "For Forever." This song, sung by these 4 artists, is so pleasing to the ear - the harmonies, the range, the blend - just, just, just . . .perfect! I am not a singer or performer. I'm just an admirer of music that hits me just right. Music that is interesting to my ear touches a place in my heart, mind and emotions. It brightens me and my often anxious and, at times, depressed self. And Hannah, you are delightful! Thank you for taking performances like this a notch higher. Incredible!

never clicked so fast! PLEASE react to some of Glee's best vocals! The show's plot lines were questionable at times, but there's no denying the cast included a lot of incredible singers!
I love the center section when they are climbing the tree and they are in the round. It so perfectly gives this feeling of anxiety mixed with a desire to throw caution to the wind and do something so far outside of his comfort zone. And then, they come back together during the soft part when the branch gives way and he falls and brings it back down; like Evan is coming back together. And can we just talk about that perfect blend on the last note; four voices that sound like one. Amazing.
I am so so happy you found this video. I have and rewatched and rewatched this video I’ve lost count at this point over the past year since it came out and I still tear up every time. Hannah, I loved it when you were speechless. I love this version of For Forever. I got to see Stephen as Evan on the national tour and he is even better in person and brings so emotion to the role. You should react to Stephen singing words fail it just an audio recording but it’s beautiful.

I just watched Sam tutty perform DEH last night on west end… he was phenomenal! This video doesn’t do his pure talent justice! His emotions, acting and pure singing ability was impeccable! I adore him now 😂

I'm crying! For Forever makes me so emotional, I'm never okay listening/singing this since I've read the book. But hearing them sing this again. Wow, so beautiful!
That arrangement is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard - I had already heard it like 20 times before this, but seeing your reaction to it just made me so happy!
I always come back to this video anyway since I just love the arrangement so much, but after seeing Sam perform last week in London, I'll probably watch it every day. They're all so young and yet have the ability to make people of all ages bawl their eyes out. It's a gift, really.

You just yelling their names "Sam!" "STEPHAN!" "ANDREW" "Robert WHAT" is so funny to me
For forever is the saddest song (aside from words fail) in the musical, because it’s Evan imagining and pretending what a friendship would be like
When I fully appreciated and understood that, it broke my heart!!
Super sad too to realize he is also re-imagining and restructuring the day he attempted suicide if he had been saved/helped by a friend
Although I think requiem is up there
Long story short, This musical is really sad and stomped my heart into a million pieces
I look at it from a parents perspective. They had this son they lost literally and figuratively, and Evan is telling them these stories to make him better. I just watched Sam tutty perform DEH last night on west end… he was phenomenal! This video doesn’t do his pure talent justice! His emotions, acting and pure singing ability was impeccable! I adore him now 😂
Oh Hannah... Your reaction is so genuine and sweet. I was moved at your being moved. I’d never heard this song and it is astonishing.
How many times have I watched this? YES...but like, fr, I think this is my favourite video of like all times.
When I see your excitement and passion I get so happy because I realise that there are other people out there who literally become faint at those ✨harmonies✨ and ✨belts✨. I’m a stan 🥺🤞🏽
I'm crying! For Forever makes me so emotional, I'm never okay listening/singing this since I've read the book. But hearing them sing this again. Wow, so beautiful!
It's definitely more than "Brotherly love"
That arrangement is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard - I had already heard it like 20 times before this, but seeing your reaction to it just made me so happy!
I always come back to this video anyway since I just love the arrangement so much, but after seeing Sam perform last week in London, I'll probably watch it every day. They're all so young and yet have the ability to make people of all ages bawl their eyes out. It's a gift, really.
LITERALLY CHILLS on “shines on my face”
OMG you should react to Ben Levi ross and Taylor Trensch singing 'Only us'. They were 2 Evans who now date

I saw Stephen Christopher Anthony in DEH in Salt Lake City THE NIGHT before Covid shut down the Tour. He was incredible and so happy we got to see it.
Congratulations to Sam for his Olivier award for this role!
She’s star struck the entire time. I’m right there with you! 🤩
Would it be too far for me to say that this may be my favorite reaction video that you’ve done? These singers left me seriously speechless 😶
It brightens my day every time you get so excited when they hit a specific note! It’s so cute!
This is my favorite video. Everything is immaculate.
Your reactions are THE BEST! I felt overcome and happy with the quality of that singing! That Stephen guy... wow! High notes incredible.
