Thanks for all the good info. I’m finally starting on a 92 sc300 that belonged to my late son. He passed shortly after his 18th birthday in 2020. I want to build this in his honor and keep it forever.
I did this with a $200 junkyard n/a 2J. I put new rings and bearings in it. Honed the block, 3 angle valve job and new calve seals. $70 bucks GTE gasket kit with new oil pump and and engine seals. Turbo exhaust manifold, cx racing front facing manifold. $250. Ebay downpipe pipe.$60 Lexus LS400 throttle body. Junkyrd $30. Made a 1/2 aluminum plate to mount the throttle body to the intake. $10 bucks eBay. I used the stock injector block. And 450cc Mazda rx7 injectors. $30 junkyard. Friend flow tested them for me. All were good and even. Used AEM Wastegate for $130 bucks. Mitsubishi turbo stock blow off valve. $10 junkyard. $200 eBay turbo, before buying a borg warner s366 model. So i would know if i liked how it built boost. No need to pay big money on a turbo if you don't like what rpm it builds boost. Junkyard $150 W58 trans. Ebay clutch n flywheel kit. $400 Ebay intercooler piping kit. $100 93 Turbo Supra intercooler. $30 junkyard. Used Megasquirt 2 stand alone. Cost $450 bucks at the time. I had that for 10 years. Bought a trigger wheel and mounted it to the harmonic balancer. $100 bucks. Got a simple crank sensor and made a bracket to mount that up. 6cyl dodge caravan coil pack. $25. Late 80's early 90's, 6cyl Ford ranger ignitor. $25. I dont think i spent more than 2k. That's not including the Megasquirt2 i already had. Now this was 6-7 years ago also. Car stull runs good. I dont do any hard pulls until 3rd and 4th gears. Highway pulls for sure. 15psi on the wastegate. The 74 260z is in storage now. I will break it out this spring so my daughter and i can cruise in it. 👍🏾
@javiermagallanes1469 it depends what your goal is. If you want big power then its not worth it but if you want something fun you can daily then hell yea its worth it.

@javiermagallanes1469 i pretty much did the same thing. I just bought a bunch of cheap supra parts on offer up. There's a channel on UA-cam called supra v world that makes really good videos explaining the whole process. He even makes parts to convert your ge into a gte.

Thanks for sharing the info, I just picked up a 2jz-ge vvti to put in my Pickup with a W56, trying to build a fun DD 300ish wheel, so I'm fine with the limitations of the rods and transmission. Coupled with 5.29 gears, it'll still party 🎉
Thanks for the break down, as you mentioned the trans is a concern when push past 400-450 WHP. not only that but the rear stock diff can't handle that much either. I like the way you choose. Cheap and reliable but it won't be fast.
back 20 years ago when I first got my MKIV Supra I did an NA-T conversion with a similar design as yours and kept burning the intake coupler for the TB and was annoying because it was sitting right above the hot side of the turbo. it came with auxiliary injectors and was very temperamental. I 'm sure there are more options now than back then but I hated the distributor and the wires and eventually blew up my motor. I ended up getting forged TT pistons and rods and got a TT head in 2008 and am much happier with the setup.
I've spoke to numerous people and seen builds by reputable shops even using the W58 at over 500 and some over 600whp! They are still intact and doing great. One guy I spoke to made 450whp for 30k HARD miles before his W58 finally let go. So sometimes it's the luck of the draw with how it was treated before your ownership. But with that info I'll be doing a small maintenance refresh on my NA-T SC300, switching to E85 and maxing out my turbo on my kill setting (or close to it). It's just a T60 Garrett Hi-fi turbo. Should put me around 500whp. A major role in longevity on the W58 is how the torque ramp is tuned in, tire grip, and how you drive it. I won't be doing digs or first gear pulls, and limiting 2nd gear pulls as well just to be safe. I have seen people blow them up making 3-400whp ofcourse, but I've seen the same with R154's. Seeing the many other people I've talked to make 500+ with no issues makes me confident with pushing it past what I currently make (416whp/448wtq on pump 93 with 7k miles since I had it tuned)!!! Great video!

for anyone seeing this when you go past 350hp you better have money. price of things for theses 2jz are getting crazy. i"m around 550hp and its been a lot of money to get there but dame i love my car lol
This is spot on, I think starting off cheap will only cost you more money in the long run. I appreciate you for chiming in on this
Ehh if you already have jz it's pretty cheap here. Especially if you just go with GTE rods. In my country it's around 4500e from stock vvti GE to 500+hp.
@@Cptlink420 Yeah I'm not sure where hes coming from with this. Tuning has NEVER been cheaper. Back when I started a turbo was over 1k alone. We had no ecu control. We were cavemen. Now all the work is done for you and everything is in kits with 100s of videos of other people doing it
That's why I bought mine already done for $12k 😉 after this next go round of refreshing/upgrading I'll be in it about $16k (including wheels). If I put the wheels that came on it back on, and sold my other ones I'd only be in it about $14,500. Not bad for an OEM 5 speed SC300 that makes 416whp on pump 93!
I'm looking online presently for an infinity series AEM ECU. It appears AEM doesn't make ECUs anymore. Am I missing something? Is there an alternative?
It’s possible that they no longer make them anymore and You might have to search Facebook market place.
Yo, where have you been?
the Aem V2 that i see on marketplace they all say there for a certain car does that matter or is it just the base map they have
Here you go, jayracing.com/mobile/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6747
Did you have to drill in oil squerters in the lower block?
Nope, not necessary
@@Edward3jr ok im lost :P
The tittle of the video is how much you spent
@@raycoolz7475 yes sir, what’s your question?
Is it still running the Supra headers? Just wondering how it runs without a heat shield
Once I installed the turbo Kit the Supra headers were removed so that the turbo manifold could be installed. I don’t have a heat shield.
Did you do all the work yourself?
did you do something to the compression ratio?
No , compression ratio should be stock
What max boost can u run for ge non vvti stock bottom end !? 93 octan.
It all depends on the tune… some guys have reliably made over 600whp on stock bottom end
Ed. What fuel lines need to be changed for e85?
This car is not on e85 yet, but the other Lexus is. That has a PHR triple fp hanger, but I’m only using 2 Walbro 450 pumps. As far as fuel lines I ran a new ss ptfe feed line, and used the oem feed line as my return using ptfe where needed.
Im happy to report no issues with this set up so far.
@@Edward3jroh that’s very smart. So all rubber needs to be swapped to ptfe then? Thank you
Could you do this same setup on a 1jzge ?
Basically the same, would need a turbo manifold
A CD09 Transmission Swap?
Nope not in this one, this still has the w58
5200 Dollars 👍
Five to Six thousand? At that point, you can just buy another SC300!!
I agree, and with a little more on top, you can take a risk and buy one already boosted.
Remember you can always build one cheaper, making it reliable is key!
Wat about the sc400 1uz
Work in progress, coming soon
Why do they call it Na-T?
Not really sure, my guess is Na= naturally aspirated T= turbo. 🤷🏾♂️

5000 dollars is cheap for cars 😂
Things add up pretty quickly when you’re in there 😏
2JZ no shit.
