  • It's finally done...600+ individual clips with over 1000 cuts, I have here the ENTIRE process from start to finish of my Sc300’s rear subframe restoration!
    This was done completely impromptu in terms of order of operations.
    I know there could’ve been easier or more efficient ways to do things, but this is how it went doing it my way...
    Here are some time stamps for those who can’t afford to watch the whole video in one go:
    1:25 Subframe Drop

    21:49 Torquing Stuff Down
    24:19 Raising Subframe into Car

    You guys inspired me to do bushing change in rear subframe and diff in my z30 soarer. Soo couple tips:
    1. In case if your abs sensor seized to the knuckle you can unplug it from the trunk.
    2. In case you don't have movable cart to put subframe to you can use piece of wood to not scratch the floor and move subframe easier.
    3. When you removing metal part around the bushing make 2 notches with 10-20mm in between (no more otherwise it will be much harder to knock it out). Then use hammer and chisel or flat screwdriver to knock out this thin piece of metal line. Rest of the metal part came out very easy.
    Also used strongflex bushings, really love them. But I hate they don't have any instruction. Like you can guess most of the stuff, but anyway it would be nice to have some sort of instruction.

      Poly bushings add more control and feel to everything with a little more firmness. However, they need maintained and lubricated more often than people think. After about 8 years my front UCA/LCA grease dried out and the arms were basically seized and only moved from the car's weight. I should have maintained them better to begin with and if I did it again I would install zerk fittings to keep them greased every 10-15k miles maybe?

    It looks like the poly bushes for the rear subframe mount, protrude too much. They look way wider than stock. Does this not offset anything and creat misalignment?

    Does anyone know of any videos working on rusty sc3/400’s?
    Trying to do coilovers, wondering how likely the bolts for strut mount on front lower control arms will break if I do it that way instead of removing upper control arms

    • @2jway
      @2jway  Рік тому

      Just had to make it brand new haha. I would hit it with a torch before attempting to break anything off. Other than that I'm in CA so I don't see much rust often, except for my tan wagon which I sold.
