I can't go fishing any more due to a medical problem from my Marine Corps days when I zigged and should have zagged but would not change a thing to make it easier to go fishing, my enjoyment is making your projects, letting friends use them. You missed your calling, your funny but your instruction is easy to follow, I for one would like to thank you very much for all the projects, you put a bounce back in my step.
That makes me very happy to hear . I really love fishing but like you I enjoy making stuff even more . I just try and be funny because things can get so serious now days . And laughter is a medicine . I appreciate you watching brother
Always thought jig tying would be a really satisfying thing to start doing. Nothing like catching fish on something you made. I've done a few plastics myself, so I guess I may as well start tying jigs too! Done brother!
I like yer channel because, like you I get satisfaction out of being cheap with hobbies. And this video is especially satisfying because I like fly tying, as well as rebuilding old wore out rods. I use mostly machine embroidery thread from Wal-Mart for both. I reckon it’s polyester and it cinches up better than anything else I’ve used. It’s also cheap and got some subtle shine to it. But ye probably already know about it.
No Sir ill try that , the only problem I run into using cheap thread is the spools too big to fit the bobbin correctly . I appreciate it brother ill give it a try
Fishin N Stuff yep, I hook the thread in the slit in the spool and let it dangle off the edge of the table, wrapping rods, as the weight is enough to do a good job. I ain’t no pro at none of it by any means. Built me a home made bobbin to wrap flies. Does ok on big’n’s. Thread’s a little big for anything smaller’n size 8 hook
Every material has a use and works great for what it's meant for and deer hairs been one of the best for four years , nothing like a good buck tail jig

I've tied flies for over 50 years and use Sally hard as nail clear finger nail polish. For these type jigs I use upholstery thread. You have to put it on a regular size spool or modify a standard bobkin.
I should've watched this yesterday...but I was fishing all day yesterday. So...yep...I bought a bunch of jig heads and plastic grubs/shad today while I was at wally mart picking up mom's medicine.😂👍💯

Loved the video. When I was a boy, my dad and made hundreds of saltwater lures. We used surplus US Army butter knives for home made Hopkins style lures. We had an aluminum fixture to pour lead heads for Gotcha style plugs. The whole family was responsible for heisting click pens for the bodies of the plugs. I caught my first King Mackerel at Scotchbonnet Pier in Surf City NC on a homemade plug. Back then a card of 10 crappie jigs was a $1.
I love this channel. Most DIY videos are junk and are poorly done. All of your DIY's are made with quality and great instructions. In my opinion his is by far the best youtube channel for cat fisherman. Keep it up brother! *DONE*
I've made a few jigs and feathered a few treble hooks but I made my own bobbin thing out of clothes hanger string and the inner part of an ink pen ink cartridge works pretty well love your videos man keep up the good work thanks for sharing
Fishing out west we have started to tie larger versions for trout, salmon and steelhead in local rivers. Mustad (and many others) have started making them as well. They call fall in the line of twitching jigs.
Missed this vid... I used to have locally made 3/8 or 1/2oz jigs back in the 80's for Bass,Striper,etc. that were rabbit.I prefer it over marabou. Can't use to much on small jigs like 1/16 or smaller...they just won't sink... found that out on my 1st zonker jig...lol Lil tip in drying nail polish a lil quicker is to run it under a slow steady flow of cold water.Never tried it but you may be able to dip it in a cup/bowl of cool water also. Another tip if you use plastics,use embroidery thread (cheap cheap cheap compared to tying thread)and wrap the jig/hook where the body will be.Then when you add the plastic bait slide it back some and add a drip or so of CA.The plastic bait won't slide back anymore.

Love your show learn a lot I built a light pole for over the boat but I put adjustable holes on it and it will adjust from 5ft to 10ft
