Because running fast over distances like 6K and 10K demands much more of your cardiovascular system than running slowly over extremely long distances. That is, it requires a much bigger aerobic engine and much greater muscular strength.
Non cookie cutter because they’re putting everything they have out there and more. Those runners are pushing themselves to their absolute limit and more
remm it’s just cross country running..they made it look like they were running over the beaches in Normandy, it’s only a running race. Also I hate stupid expressions like you just used, you can’t push yourself to a limit ‘and more’, that’s such a stupid expression. You can only push yourself to the limit of your body, not past that. Going ‘past your limits’ is just a dumb expression people use to try and get across the fact that they’re going as fast as they possibly can. It’s like when people say they ‘gave 110%’, impossible, you can only give 100% of something, it’s physically impossible to give more than 100% of yourself. It’s just a stupid thing people like to say
The finish line is literally just a ton of people dying 💀
As a cross country runner, I can attest to the fact that the finish line is a war zone.
At a one meet I saw a girl fall over the finish line and throw up. They just rolled her to the side to make way for more finishers.
I can still feel those pre-race jitters and it has been 30 years since I ran in the nationals.
@That One i'm a boxer i probably understand more haha
I still run and just thinking of a race gives me the jitters

Ran high school XC in Indiana for 4 years and on this course 6 times. It's brutal. Flat/Downhill for a mile then 2 miles uphill
Spectating this race was one of the most memorable moments of my life.. seeing Edwin crush down the straight away
I love running this course and I'm glad to these insane college runners on it.
Great meet, thanks for the coverage FloTrack!
The finish line-Worst XC recruitment video ever
that's normal for supports that needs endurance
Really well put together.
