Everyone needs to experience this at least once. It is a feeling like no other. Rounding the last bend, seeing the finish, and just seconds ago, when you thought you had nothing left, now it's a wellspring of energy and determination.
Coming up on 7 years post collegiate xc and gosh do I miss it. It's strange how during those times you don't really enjoy the process as much as you should. It was always "what's next" and looking to the future but then it's your last xc meet and all of a sudden it all hits you...Would give up so much to just have another race with my team. Enjoy those track workouts, tough hill workouts, long runs, and everything in between. Trust me. You'll miss it one day.
I'm so glad I quit cross country when high school ended. Great while it lasted, then on to the next thing that's not so stressful & painful. Although wow there was some amazing comraderie and competition.
I love this, and how you can see how big running is, and then the girl talks about just getting in your zone, now a true runner understands how that feels

This is probably the longest username on UA-cam defiantly agree, I joined as a junior with 5 kids and ended as a senior with 4. The bonding was incredible
I love this video, it really simplifies what cross country is all about. We as runner we go through hell in practice we beat ourselves to the breaking point, we reach the limits of our bodies and mental capacity and see others grind so hard and achieve their goals is remarkably emotional, I’m tearing up right now, you can clearly feel all the emotions all the feelings those young runners are feeling after the race. It’s been two weeks since my cross country season has ended and OMG I missed it already. Such a great support and camaraderie from your teammates and even fellow runners cheering you on in the last 400 meters. I love cross country with all my heart and hope y’all can share the same feeling
@That One, I do cross country and your wrong. They can’t sprint 3 miles. They just have very long strides and know how to keep there pace going. Also they have good breathing techniques

In England, we have the starter pistol person standing on a box, to the side of the xc course. It just seems so stressful to just watch the starter guy get steamrolled sometimes...
If this doesn't make you tear up from the emotion of the athletes, the crowd, the competition, and the flashbacks to your own competition, you're not a true fan of the sport

I miss XC competition. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a big school that pushed XC. I was a 16:48 runner and went to state 2 years in a row. I couldn’t afford college and didn’t get to go.

The way they introduced McDonald to the video is just amazingly perfect, I mean it shows just how great of a runner he is, he's recognized as one of the best💯
cross country is one of the few good competitions left. No springy rubber track surface that makes previous track records moot as it is an entirely different environment. Just raw natural running against the elements and nature

I ran cross country in college in the 80's. These guys are about 3 plus minutes faster than I was. It was fun but my knees are paying for it in my late 50's.

There are a lot of really hard sports, but long races are one of the few things where you see people not even able to stand simply because they put in so much energy. You can get gassed in basketball, but you wont fall down the second the clock hits 0. Really something else
Lumberjacks baby! All we ever had was cross country and track. And ladies soccer. That altitude is a game changer when they travel or when someone travels to Flagstaff

Do it bro just remember to train slowly but consistently. Watch the joe Rogan clip about training. It's about not wearing yourself out and being consistent
God, the atmosphere when you reach the final straightaway in a race is like no other, truly makes you put in everything you have left
And it also makes you realize how much more you have in the tank. Truly limitless.
