As a 21 year veteran of the Air Force and Army I am not offended when someone thanks me for my service. I am always humbled because compared to someone who has seen combat, lost body parts or their health my service seems modest The ones that affect me the most are the children because I know they are being raised right. As a Vietnam era vet we did not receive any recognition until after September 11th. So I am appreciative of any recognition that comes my way

As a veteran who served 4 years active duty Air Force, 6 years Texas Air National Guard, & a few months in Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan the biggest appreciation I get is seeing my fellow citizens be good citizens. Take care of your neighborhoods, check on your neighbors, actually get to know your neighbors, & be a good neighbor! My biggest bother is seeing people trash their neighborhood or others neighborhoods. Appreciate all the beautiful aspects, & take advantage of all the opportunities this country has to offer. This is what I volunteered to fight for. Let's keep and make it more beautiful than we received it.

I know los Angeles needs a lot of help, but it's hard to do anything when politicians make it impossible.. my best friend is a marine vet, and after 8 yrs he's just got V. A. help.. My Dad was an Irish UN peacekeeper in the Congo in 1961 on a 6 month tour. Saw Combat several times, came across missionaries out there that everyone was slaughtered, horrible things he saw as a young man. Came home, suffered nightmares for years so his sister told me, left the army, went to England for work (no work in Ireland), gave most of the 60s there, came home, met my mother, married her in 1970, worked in the local mines as a driler and blaster, no work in the 80s, they struggled financially and having 6 kid at the time, my mother died in 2000 aged 55, he came the house going, cooking dinners and washing clothes, he took up her duties. He now has 7 grandkids, he's the greatest man that ever lived to me, never got a thing of our state or never had theraphy of any kind, wasn't available here and still isn't for veterans. He's 84. I enjoyed listening to Sean and your podcast, Sean is definitely Irish stock, are you John, In Ireland we have Delaney, maybe Delony was delaney at one stage

The biggest thing for me in my own personal journey was for me to get off my ass and stop feeling sorry for myself. I had nine deployments and I told myself all the time like I’m owed this and I’m owed that and I wasn’t doing anything positive for myself just dwelling on what has happened, don’t even give me started on why I think we were there. Just get off your butt and start to socialize and stop feeling sorry for yourself. The best advice I can give any.

Shawn, I love hearing how you have become victorious, and your greatest victory is realizing that God is in control, and you are His. One of your greatest witnesses in this time will be other people wondering how in this mess you can exude a peace that passes all understanding and you explaining it to them just as you did here. Thank you, Dr. John, for a great interview. Loved hearing how we can better show our appreciation for those who have given so much for us and I was brought to tears hearing how Shawn's witness is reaching others. Appreciate you and I think this is my very favorite of your shows so far. God bless both of you.

What I learned with raising my granddaughter for her first 4 years, is that children mimicking ACTIONS, more than they obey, so I realized I had to BE the person I wanted HER to be.
That means the way I speak and what I say and how I say it. How I react. How I treat others. Being organized and have a basic flexible schedule. Have good fun and spend TIME together, always teaching about God & life.

    - you have to decide what being well means for you. Only you can decide that.

John, thank you for having Shawn on. His story is so poignant. I really appreciated this show.
And I am SO grateful that Shawn was able to talk about using psychedelics therapeutically and that they made a huge difference for him.
In 2010, I caught a near fatal illness while working in the Gaza Strip. I had encephalitis (viral) as well as sepsis. None of the doctors around me expected me to even survive. There was certainly no expectation of a meaningful recovery.
Once I had recovered enough to learn how to read again, I started researching different brain illnesses like ALS, MS, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc to try to see if there was a common denominator in what was helping patients. I couldn't find any similar research on post encephalitis.
In my research of other brain illnesses, in addition to the fact that I learned that anxiety and depression are common side effects of brain injury, I saw that cannabis was a common denominator in what those patients found helped them, but there was no proof it would help me.
I felt that my brain had enough in common with theirs (my neurologist told me that my brain looked like the brain of an elderly Alzheimer's patient) so I decided to learn about cannabis, the preferred delivery system to best support my brain and then test it out. I knew it wouldn't hurt me, but would it help? Long story short - it helped. I noticed a gradual reduction of the anxiety and depression and finally, about 2 years later, I didn't need daily doses of cannabis to keep my brain feeling "normal"
Here I am, 12 years after those 2 years and I know what medicine works if I feel anxiety or depression creeping up on me and it works every time.
Natural remedies are true miracles! I am whole and healed by the grace of God - and by all the wonders He has given. I had to make up my own rehab plan because no one gave me any ideas to bring my brain back.
I'm going for another MRI next month and I am excited to see what it will show about my brain! Will it still show the Alzheimer's-like shrinkage or will it look "normal"?
I don't know but I do know that my body, mind and brain have been restored when no such recovery was even thought possible! 🙏🙌🙏

The same could be said for anyone who has come to experience a great love. You have had it. But look around. There are so many who haven't had even a taste of brotherhood or of love. You don't need it again. You have given enough already, I'm sure. But who else can get this next group on the path to the brotherhood they only dream of? I can't but I would love to help one who could.

Not everyone gets exposed to some of the cruel truths of the world and as uncomfortable as some of the content is , its critical that Americans from across all political spectrum realize whats going on and get back to finding our common ground.

I empathize with Mike. I've always looked up to him. I've also been falsely charged with DV and got it dropped to disorderly. Still shows up as DV and yes it causes pain because that whole ordeal is traumatic

Well this was an eye opener. I have been worried. But really it’s all happening we’re not gonna change the ending. Constantly worrying will not change a thing. It’s the nature of a people pleaser to want everything to be ok and everyone be happy…I just have to chill out. ❤ thank you.

EXCELLANT interview!!! So thirilled that people are stepping up and talking about their walk with "faith." Those of you who spread the word are making it is possible for others to experience heaven! Jesus is the living King! And Shawn I do appreciate you catching yourself on the "words" you use. It has been bothering me when I have watched you online. Thank you.

Shaun is so right about Vet benefits. I work in addiction centers and the centers get hundreds of thousands of dollars to "house" these vets who are just looking for a place to live/eat with no intentions of "rehabilitation"

Wonderful informative interview. You both worked through each issue and articulated how all these changes are affecting you, your families and are finding a way forward. Thank you both for humbling yourselves. I learned a lot today. Things I can take back to my family and be a better wife, mother, grandmother, friend, colleague and just a better person. Thank you.

In the end, we are a product of our thoughts. All your experiences have trained your brain to act in a certain way. Your brain is trainable and with proper guidance can release your inner happiness and be rid of ill thinking that is no longer a threat to you. Life is a choice. You can choose to be happy and productive or sink into addictions and misery. Choose life!

This was so powerful. I have never been able to understand the Bible .But I will keep trying. I recently started praying, and I am seeing signs. And I am building a relationship with god. After listening to a bunch of near death stories I have come to be leave it doesn’t matter what church you belong to but to have a relationship with God and to believe that Jesus died for us.Anyway love both of you guys absolutely loved this video and you both are Gods most precious children. PS Don’t sweat the small stuff which a lot of it is❤❤❤😊
