Adam is colourblind and Steph has a neurological disorder which means she has a tremor, this throws some extra obstacles our way when it comes to creating art but we still enjoy the process anyway! Just had to pause the video to say that I can imagine there’s a lot of viewers like me who just really like you guys, as people, and it doesn’t really matter as much what you make or how you make it or what art supplies you use. I just like that you guys are kind, funny, supportive of each other, and fun to watch. When you guys are happy and having fun, I am happy watching. I hope that makes sense!

art in social media has stepped up a lot, but that's why i choose to watch you guys! you remain calming and homey in a sea of "ART TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!" or voiced over speed draws (not that those videos are inherently bad)! i often watch you guys when i want to wind down and i love drawing while your videos are playing because it feels like i have a friend to draw with!

I joined this channel interested in drawing, and since then, I started to crochet as well! I struggle with amigurumi, so I would love to see Steph bring a drawing to life with crochet!!

playing with different media is always a great way to take it easy and have fun when doing art; even if you do the same thing the difference of supplies can greatly change the final outcome!

Ah, recycling - I use jars as pencil pots, water pots, brush holders, etc.... It's cheaper too than buying them from art and stationary shops.
Don't worry about following trends on social media and youtube. I have been watching art channels for two or three years now and yours is one of the few that I watch regularly. One of the reasons for that is that you aren't trying sell things or make me want to buy things all the time - you do a lot of videos using your art supplies whereas quite a lot of the others will review something once and then you never see it again, or they are about having a sponsorship with brands. Instead you just have fun creating art and that's important - a lot of the other youtube channels don't have that vibe.
That's honestly why in nearly 10 years we've never done a sponsorship. we'd never want to try and sell you something that we dont believe in or wouldnt use regularly

i get sticker anxiety SO BADLY!! a few years ago my mom bought me a reusable sticker book so my sticks don’t curl up anymore in a box. i put all my similar stickers together in the book and it’s perfect because if i do randomly want to use them i could go in my sticker book pick it out and use it!

Mixed media is so fun! Though that's such a mood on the sketchbooks- I have one at the moment which is generally great but as soon as I try ink on it it just kind of explodes a little bit. Admittedly, it makes some fun textures! But I'm glad I didn't have anything other than thumbnails on the other side.

I used to do similar stuff as a kid too. I used to make books with pop-up pictures (it was paper cut outs double taped, but they never popped out) and I used to sculpt with clay.
Side note: I should get back into sculpting. it's so fun to make your own figurines!
Steph, you're a huge inspiration to me! I love using all kinds of different media, but I sometimes feel bad about it, like "maybe I should specialize on one thing instead of trying all this different stuff". But there are so many fun art supplies out there, it feels like a shame not to play with all of them, you know? I rarely mix different media in one piece, usually I use them each on separate pieces, but this video made me want to try and change that and experiment more with mixing everything! Thank you for sharing! You're the best! ❤

I'm all for the sketching and crocheting idea. I've just made a sewing pattern based on some lil doodle guys I like to make, and it's such an interesting process I think. It'd be very cool to see you make patterns off of doodles that we as an audience could recreate.
Ooooh yes, the sticker anxiety is reeeal! I have so many great stickers that I'm too scared to use, so they rot together in a cupboard... which is also not the way to go. I think I have to break out of my comfort zone there as well 😅
Also the eyelashes on Stephs lovely mixed-media-self portrait look very much like eyelashes of a Mii (the Wii character models) 😁(Or like something from Animal Crossing? I never played that tbh)

You can get journals to put stickers in where you can remove them again. So you can keep them all in one book. But you can still choose to use them someday if you want. Or just use them to display them and you can therefore design the pages a bit. It’s great.
I love the self portrait! I've been experimenting with mixed media recently, fun to play with mediums without having to stick to any rules and just seeing what you feel like creating 😊

I relate to Steph so hard in so many ways, but I'm also a huge mixed media fan. I've gotten even more into using different scrapbooky elements in my sketchbook since watching Steph do it! It looked too fun to play with washi and stickers and pretty paper lol. I've been having a blast with it! I also just hoard different kinds of art supplies and go through huge phases - AND i've just recently started crocheting! You guys are such inspirations and I'm not sure you even know it! Social media may not be built for our style of art, but I'm very happy to spend my time with you guys here instead anyway. ^-^
I've been watching ya'll for years and can't put into words how special it is to witness you two grow not only artistically but in your personal journeys as well. Holbein is one of my fav brands. I love the acryla gouache and the regular gouache, just always has a gorgeous finish.
Also thanks to AI art I've been doing a whole lot more traditional art. I feel that and you're right... it's really healing.

Aww it makes me happy to know there's other mixed media crafters in our community!! I also hope to learn to knit eventually one day in the future but I'm not too sure where to start just yet. At least I'll have a ton of pretty yarn stockpiled from crocheting when I'm ready though hehe!
love mixed media! so charming! i like to layer colored pencil over applications of alcohol marker to shade or adjust the color! white colored pencil layered over can also lighten colors up a bit

i bought myself this little square sketchbook too! i just loved stephs drawings in it. Usually i always draw in dinA5 sketchbooks, so this is the smallest sketchbook iever used. Yet so far i love it! its a very nice challenge and i dont have to stress too much about filling empty spaces

Hello Adamo and Steph, thank you for sharing your time, space, and creative artistry with us. Yes, i want to see a picture or drawing become immortalized into a crocheted being. That would be so amazing. My older sister has an autoimmune disease, or well more than one. My son has asperger's which in America is now called autism 1, and my oldest daughter has autism. All of my kids have been through anxiety and depression as have I. I also have complex PTSD. And i love art.

Schmincke has several types of gouache, Designer Gouache is a very typical gouache, the Horadam one is a little bit more like a opaque watercolour without much white pigments in it. The quality of Holbein Artist Gouache ( not to be confused with their Acrylic Gouache) and Horadam gouache is pretty close, Holbein has nicer colous like these pastels.
While I like painting with Gouache I did not like the fact it comes in tubes so they went to a new home. I am enjoying other media and I think every creative person likes to try different or new things from time to time. At the end of the day it is all about enjoying your creative time and enjoying the process ❤

@doodle date, Hello hugs I can’t wait to get my Dogs with Jobs book tomorrow. 🙂 Adam, what do you use to store your drawing pencils?, my Derwent pencil tin arrived dented so it doesn’t close properly. Also, what is a good eraser to erase different grades of pencil? Any help would be appreciated.

I tend to keep mine in a fabric pencil case to avoid things like tind dentjng or getting damaged and currently the pentel brand of erasers are amazing at reading various different grades! I hope this helps 😀
@@DoodleDate thank you, I have a fabric pencil roll case from an old colored pencil set so I will use that. I am taking a drawing class and the professor suggested rubber, kneaded, and a vinyl eraser. The rubber eraser crumbled no matter how careful I was while erasing. We will be using charcoal next week so I will be using the kneaded one, and the vinyl won’t erase everything completely. This helps a lot, thank you.

I've been struggling with my art accounts lately and it has discouraged me from even posting on Instagram. I'm not super consistent so it's definitely partly my fault but I can't help it lol. I've been working with clay recently and not really drawing which is what I had always done before

traditional artwork in general AI has a hard time making look realistic/like a real painting so right now that's what I'm doing is watercolors since AI is trash with watercolor
