      It turned out so cute! I started skeptical, thinking of all the little holes and the paint, but absolutely fell in love with it at the end. It all came together perfectly. And that's why you should never doubt the artist...
      I love how all your projects are real, you show your honest thoughts and struggles, which makes the end result a 1000x more amazing. Thank you for sharing this video with us. Greetings from New Zealand

    As someone that works with polymer and air dry clay all the time, Chloe... get a piece of acrylic sheet. You can put grippe feet on it, if it moves too much for you, but i personally have found it stays put. It'll save you massive amounts of headache because you can also paint on it, and keeps your space clean AND its pretty easy to clean too.

    • @arthur-oy2ki
      @arthur-oy2ki Місяць тому +10

      I always do mine over my cutting mat, and fir air dry clay i like to occasionally tape down wax paper or parchment (it really doesn't natter) but usually my cutting mat works jist fine for me

    • @DandisDen
      @DandisDen Місяць тому +11

      @@arthur-oy2ki I did that for a while, but then it randomly started sticking to my mat and I found it extremely difficult to clean, even before it started sticking. Then i tried using the parchment paper taped down, and it stuck worse and the paper would either rip or come untapped. A scraper will take paint and clay off an acrylic sheet easy.

    Well done. Your little tic tac toe board is really cute. Just a tip for smoothing your work. Use a fine sandpaper to sand the dried, finished piece before painting.

    • @trimiynchan

      OR use a brush with a bit of water to clear away some of the fingerprints. (Especially where it's hard to reach with the sandpaper.)

      Unfortunately without clay being fired in a kiln this is considered the bisque stage so even though sandpaper is a good idea and can be used it is mostly only used on already fired clay but can be used to add texture to unfired clay😊

    Pinch pot and drape bowl are techniques rather than objects. You pinch the clay into shape between your fingers for a pinch pot. And for the drape, you roll a flat slab and drape it over a mould to create the shape.

  • @michelleh9685

    I think you should also try Skulpd next because why not? 😂😊
    And I don't do sculpting, but my assessment is that maybe they should have had fewer paint colors (lovely as they are) and provided a roller instead. If it bumped up the price a bit, it would still be worth it given the struggles you had without one, especially since, as you noted, this is a beginner kit.
    Why would they expect someone to have a spare roller? (Even if they bake I assume you'd want one dedicated to cooking and one dedicated to art.) It's good they included what they did as far as tools go. Those were obviously very useful. I also think the painting tips should've mentioned thinning the paint and multiple light coats if it didn't, but maybe they didn't have room or didn't think of it.
    I love your S'mores inspired Tic Tac Toe set. It came out really cute! You're right; the marshmallows look almost like the real thing, lol... forbidden marshmallows.

    Speaking as someone who got ripped off on Etsy with a date night pottery kit that came with the cheapest tools I've ever seen, a third as much clay as in your kit, hardly any paint, and no ideas of things to make with it - AND it cost literally twice as much! - I was really excited to see you test this kit, and would love to see you do the other brand as well. I just wish you'd happened to make this video about year ago and saved me from that Etsy scam!

    I don't know how Sculp'd and Pot'd are not the same company, I have done a Sculp'd kit before and it is nearly identical except mine only had white paint and gloss varnish. Tools were the same, the font for the logos is the same, even the instruction cards and projects were the same!

    It's worth noting that your added cross hatch pieces may crack off as it dries. Clay really needs you to score and wet it before you connect two different pieces to each other. It helps enormously to keep them from popping apart later.

    Well done! Especially brilliant since you're also a beginner, 3-D design is a whole different beast from 2-D 😅 speakong from experience.
    Some advice, highly recommend getting a ruler and some simple shape cookie cutters or even just stencils in the right shapes for when you want specifically square or circular pieces. It's super helpful. Ruler helps you make sure it's got the right intended diameter or dimensions while stencils and cookie cutters give the same size every time.

    I’m not sure if you edited it out of the video, but I’ll mention this just in case! When attaching two pieces of clay together, it’s very important to crosshatch and put a bit of water in between! It helps the pieces stick together throughout the whole process and hopefully forever lol. When working with real clay, some people even have a very diluted clay to spread on top of the crosshatch for maximum attachment lol

    I would leave air dry clay 48 hours to fully harden. It will absorb moisture from your paint, so thin layers and build up slowly and let dry really well between coats or yes, it will peel, even really expensive acrylics will peel if you put it on too thick and try to recoat too soon.
    Really cute idea though, definitely looked very graham crackerish!

I just wanted to say that the best art box I have EVER PURCHASED was by Jackie the NerdECrafter! Her box’s are simply the BEST! My next was the one done by Neil from Real Terrain Hobbies both had everything that you need to make wonderful art. I have no idea why you are having trouble getting your paint to stick to your clay. In the past it has been contaminated surfaces for me. A silicone sealant or dirty tools messy with some grease or oil. Maybe you could wash the surface and be certain it is dry before trying again? Good luck with the store opening!

    • @puppykitten1557

      I agree! I love pottery and one of the great things is how affordable it can be. You can get a big chunk of clay for $10 or less. You can get better quality paints for $1 each. A tin of polyurethane for gloss is $4. The tools aren’t more than $10 but you also don’t need them, you can use things you already have at home.
      So for $35 at MOST you can make significantly more stuff than what this kit provides. Yes you’re paying for the convenience and it’s super cute, but I wouldn’t really get it if I were a beginner in pottery. It does make a good gift though.
