Thank you so much for this video. I am a 64yo woman on a pension so calling a plumber is out of my budget. I also had to change the rubber cone which was completely shot. It took me all day but I’ve just finished and I’m so proud of myself. So grateful to UA-cam. It has saved me so much money over the years. Cheers mate. Total cost $90 and under budget!
Bill you are an absolute champion. Anytime I am searching how to do something and I see a Billshowto Im like, sorted. No mucking around, straight to the point. Massive thanks to you :)
Thank you so much for your video ❤. I'm a single mum on a tight budget and your video helped me fix my toilet for $92. Now I will save more money from my toilet not continually filling up.
Thank you. I never could have done it without you. It did not come with a Manual and with Dyslexia I struggle to understand. I cannot believe it is Fixed! No leaks, No Noise ...it fills and flushes. All the things it did not do before. A new Cistern was the Solution. With only 1 Aged Pension I am so grateful to you. ps: I did put the bracket upside down and reversed it. Very, very grateful to you Bill.
Great video lesson. Thanks Bill. Watching an honest mistake happen makes it all the more real. Thanks for a genuine lesson on how to do some DIY maintenance.
Great straight forward video for what should be a straight forward job I'm hoping. My cistern is old and needs replacing. I should be able to do it thanks to this video.
I'm really glad you made the mistake! It was the single most important thing I remembered when installing the unit. You also helping Estilo make another sale. Thanks for saving me money and giving me the tips to do it properly. It took an hour and a half to carefully and methodically install a cistern, pipe cover and seat from Estilo. So far so good. Cheers
Extremely helpful video, thank you. I'm off to buy the Estilo cistern right now. I'm very glad to hear that a plumber is not required for this job so I'll save myself some money and attempt a job I've never done before. BTW - the old cistern is exactly the same as the one I'm going to replace. It has similar dirty marks and chips. Nice one!
Thanks mate! My toilet is running constantly and I've been waiting 3.5 weeks for the plumber. I'm going to go to Bunnings tomorrow.and just do it myself! 😊
This was really good advice, replaced a cistern today and the knowledge from this helped. I had to get a new dura pan cone (black rubber inlet connecter for the water from cistern to toilet pan via the right-hand PVC pipe bend) and a tip from the guy at the shop was to turn the larger end in on itself before putting it over the smaller PVC pipe side, then roll it over the larger pipe inlet into the toilet pan connection point. If that doesn't work try putting it into hot/boiling water first to get it pliable. The turn in method worked wonderfully for me. Thanks for your video man, hope it helps heaps more 🤙
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! I've just bought and installed this exact same cistern after what I thought was going to be a pretty uncomfortable evening having only one toilet and my old cistern basically falling off the wall. I'll be tuning in for more of your home maintenance tips.
Thanks so much for making this video. Because of your video we changed both our toilets. We watched your video several times and took on board your advice and instructions from what to buy and how to DIY, ie. Estilo toilet, better screws, spring loaded center punch. Two staff members at bunnings didn't have a clue the advantage of the spring loaded center punch and couldn't even direct me to the correct isle in their maze of insanely confusing isles of where to find it. . I did find it in the tool section. Drill bits, power tools etc. No toilets leaking and it's been a few weeks! Thanks agan.
Thanks, i bought this exact cistern yesterday and was not sure about fitting the support rack.... and because i am as dumb as mud i did not realise that the float had to be moved to the left side, so the video was very helpful.
Just did a quick Google search, and you're video was the first to come up. Very clear and easy to understand and gave me the confidence to change my own cistern! Thanks Bill, Subbed for more how to's 🙂
Thank you for this clear video. I have to replace a cistern tomorrow but could only find fixing this or that and I was worried on what to expect with this job. Now I know a lot more and how to start this project. Again, thank you, you made my day :-)
Once again Bill perfect timing. I need to replace my cisterns and thought I needed a plumber. Your vid has given me the confidence to give it a crack myself. Thx Bill.
@@benpaci8561 hi Ben. I ended up using one of Bill’s other videos and replaced the seal valve first. That was a bit tricky but I got there in the end. 👍
Thanks for the tips! Certainly a couple of things I would’ve skipped over like the level 😂 I’m glad there are people like you on UA-cam for people like me! Keep up the awesome videos mate
Great video, the mistake was the best bit for us rookies :) the reaction in your body language was great too. Know the feeling. About to do mine this weekend
🥂Cheers! Looking forward to confidently replacing an old loo Cistern and surprise the hubby! One less job for him, one more needed skillset for me! Win win!! 🚽✨ Grateful for the helpful video Bill! 💪🏻💯
This is sooo helpful, thank you! I have a really old toilet cistern that I absolutely hate, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on replacing a toilet lol. I just replaced my toilet handle now I’m considering doing this 😅🤔
Thanks for that. Much better than the provided instructions. Co-incidentally I have the exact same model of cistern I was replacing and also bought the same Estilo replacement. The old holes since they are not visible - I filled them with kneeded blu-tac.
I like the video I spot the mistake from the first drill, but the video is good and helpful. Maybe cleaning the tiles before putting the new cistern will make this video more pleasant :) The reason we want to put a new toilet is to have clean new looks. Thanks Bill!
Honest mistake Bill, kinda thing I can definitely see myself doing. Good of you to show real life bloopers. This video is perfect for me, need to paint behind my wall mounted toilet. (Something to do during this 4th lockdown for us Melbournians!) Love your work, keep em coming!
The only problem I'm facing is that the wide slimline cistern doesn't completely line up with existing water inlet and waste outlet so I've ordered an Abey flexible PVC 50mm fitting and I'll see if that fixes it.
If you can do a vid of replacing inlet valve thatd be great mate! Videos are great as usual. Never mind mind i realise this vid pretty much shows it! Also love how you left the mistake in. Everyone makes mistakes.
Gday great video, do you have any showing replacing old dunny where cistern is 1/2 in the wall and wanting to replace with a fancy loo that backs onto a solid wall?
hey bro, nice work! thank you for the video much appreciated you ll be on better homes and gardens in no time! you reminded me of Vasili garden good man also! maresi...
Public toilets uses black toilet seat mostly so it doesn’t look dirty and it’s low maintenance. But with white there is a lot of cleaning and it gets so dirty easily
Thank you for an informative, clear video! Very easy to follow even for a first time DIYer. I also appreciate that you included the little error there. Made it easier to understand. Just wondering if it’s the same process for porcelain cisterns? Thanks again, A new subscriber :)
Hey Bill, I’m going to convert my toilet from side entry inlet to a bottom inlet in a few years. To do that I’m also going to replace the whole entire toilet.
Thanks dude! Helped immensely to build the confidence to re-install a new cistern in my place, we had little room to work with but we've got it all going well, perfectly level thanks to all your advice. Cheers!
I have a small weirdly configured attic bathroom and I will need to put the system to the side of the toilet instead of over it. Will that be an issue?

AHH...but did you clean behind???
Glad you didn’t try and gloss over the mistake, that’s why I like you, you keep it honest.
Lol, we all make mistakes so I don’t see the point in pretending that things always go to plan👍
A tip: watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies these days.

i couldn’t do that without cleaning the wall first… but thank you i’m feeling confident to change my cistern now!
Me too. That wall definitely needs a good clean!!!
I'm with you on that. It only takes a few wipes with a wet cloth to remove it from tiles....
Agreed. This was very lazy, and not good to leave mould on the wall. Shame because the video was otherwise very helpful.
Just saved me $320 Dollarbucks for supply and install of the same Cistern from the plumber mate! Thank you very much!
You’re very welcome 👍👍👍
Great video , very helpful and now I feel confident enough to change out our cistern .
Great video lesson. Thanks Bill. Watching an honest mistake happen makes it all the more real. Thanks for a genuine lesson on how to do some DIY maintenance.

I’ve replaced all 3 cisterns in the house thanks to this video.
All with the same brand and model.

Thanks Bill! really super helpful video! cheers 👍
I was thinking you drilled the wrong holes but because I’m such a big fan decided to sit back and not question the master lol.
Had to have a giggle when you marked and drilled the wrong holes lol, Great Video !!

Great stuff Bill.. I was looking for ur video on how to replace the cistern the day after this video went up!
If you want to install a ceramic wall hung cistern do you need to install extra studs and noggins in the wall? Or will plugs be enough to hold it
Public toilets uses black toilet seat mostly so it doesn’t look dirty and it’s low maintenance. But with white there is a lot of cleaning and it gets so dirty easily
Great video bro and fantastic explanation! Can I ask what size screws, wall plugs and drill bit you were using please?
hi bill can you show how to replace the seal on the pan to the floor seems to be no videos on this.cheers
Cheers mate. You just save an aged pensioner a fare few dollars. Have a great day 😁

Lol, hopefully not👍
Wish you cleaned the wall😬 great job though
Champion video, thanks 👍🏽👍🏽

thank you bill, so helpful!
Cheers for a great video hoping to try this out soon
Hey Bill love your videos, I tried to find the plugs you used but no luck what are they called with the piece on the end
Hi, they are from a company called ramset
I know it's not visible, but please, a bit of a clean wipe of the grimy tiles behind the cistern while it's off the wall doesn't go amiss.
Thanks dude! Helped immensely to build the confidence to re-install a new cistern in my place, we had little room to work with but we've got it all going well, perfectly level thanks to all your advice. Cheers!
Very helpful. Thanks mate.

Dear man, thank you Bill.
Quick question. With your Wagner 350m did you have to thin any of the paints to use them in the sprayer??
