Good tip on checking for moisture. I'll be making a walkway in my back yard with concrete pavers next year, so the clear coat sealant is a good idea, but another color for me. I honestly prefer the natural light grey to that darker gray that makes it look painted. Avista website has the colors. Lite Mocha or Dark Terracotta would look great in my yard because of all the trees. An improved project, thanks, Bill!
So what about a brand new driveway. Can I apply the coloured sealant straight over the top ? Also how long does it typically last once applied ? cheers
Does it end up being more slippery - we're currently looking at outdoor paving paint it's quite overwhelming as far as choices go. Non slip would be my main concern.
You can just throw any fine sand over the sealer evenly before it dries if you want to give it a grippy texture, do a section and then throw some sand evenly over it so it sticks or fuses in to the sealer, then carry on another section, etc.
Follow up question Bill, how slippery is the sealed surface when it has been rained on, Asking for a, oh yes for a 68 year old friend who is concerned about slipping falls and broken hips. The surface looked fairly shiny to -me- err my elderly friend. 🤯
Hi, depends on the condition of the old sealer. A cross hatch test can be done to ensure the old sealer is in suitable condition to be sealed over the top.
Xylene can be used to determine if it’s a solvent or acrylic/water based product that has previously applied and is also used to strip existing material. Applying a solvent based sealer over old solvent sealer will reactivate it 👍👍👍
@ yep I’m aware of the purpose of a xylene test, have done plenty of sealer jobs. You can’t know if the previous coating is an acrylic, solvent, epoxy/polyurethane, etc without testing it. Would be wise for your viewers to know how to check before rushing out to buy products that may not be compatible. As for no reactivating solvent I would speak to your Dulux rep on that one, any failure and they’ll dust their hands with it.
What would be best if i have a gunmetal color sealer thats old and can see natural concrete from furniture scratches and want to change to a sandstone color sealer and both sealers are solvent based thats lighter in color? Love i just found your chanel and watched nearly all your vids. Thanks
if both are solvent based, do the same process as in this video. You may want to do a cross hatch test before hand to make sure the old sealer is in suitable condition to be seal over the top👍
Very informative and professional. Thanks Bill, you’re a legend.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍👍👍

You’re very welcome 👍
Hi bill love your channel, quick question how slippery is the finished product being semi gloss?
Your a champ 🏆
Great video 👍. Love all your videos. Out of curiosity, what is the name of the tint you've used?
Slate grey 👍
Nice bro

Hi Bill, could you use this product on some outdoor ceramic tiles ?
Unfortunately not
I’ve got faded and peeling ultra pave on my concrete, would this go over it after I’ve grinded the peeled sections back?
I see you've slacking off with your pushup challenges Mr. trainingwithbill 😉
Lol I know, I would love to start up again 👍

Anti slip additive can be used to make it more slip resistant. I used it on the driveway 👍

Thank you both for the feedback. It's a big job so we want to be as informed as possible.
Is there some stain that’s permanent and lasts longer than a few years?
Is it slippery to walk on compared to unsealed concrete?
Only slippery when wet, anti slip additives can be used where desired 👍

Hi Bill. Great video. So if I've got old sealer which has very much worn away, can I just pressure wash to clean and apply new tinted sealer?
Hi, depends on the condition of the old sealer. A cross hatch test can be done to ensure the old sealer is in suitable condition to be sealed over the top.
@@billshowto thanks Bill!
my concrete stencil last lacquer is flacking away.. what can I do myself to re-seal? a color concrete sealer we want..
Any reason you didn’t do a xylene test or apply a reactivating solvent?

Another fantastic video, thanks Bill
I'm off to the club to find some strippers to help remove the paint from my driveway 😅😊😂
1:11 and I have to stop watching. We don't get 3 to 4 days of that amount of fine weather in Melbourne for the washed concrete to dry properly. 🤦♂️
Plop plop, I’m shitting to this 🎉
I worry for you…. You’re in the toilet a lot
