  • This is part one of three videos of the USA women in the Team Finals. The only thing that sucks is that they left Courtney McCool completely out of the TF. Team USA had some errors but pulled through in the end to win the team Silver.

    It was a blessing that Terin was in the zone in the biggest meet of her life, but sad that McCool was not. 'Cuz McCool's execution was normally impeccable. You just never know what will happen when you get to the Olympic Games.

    Annia could have easily fit in Amanar.

    These Yurchenko DTY are amazing...they really needed them in 2008.

      At the 2008 Olympics, the USA had a DTY from Bridget Sloan, an Amanar from Shawn Johnson, and a Rudi from Alicia Sacramone.

    For real mohini deserves much more recognition and respects. She deserves an individual medal

    What’s ironic is people crucified Sacramone for her errors in 2008- in spite of the fact that MULTIPLE athletes made mistakes for the US… and yet Carly never faced anything like that for the mistakes she made here. Neither should have faced any criticism, considering they were capable of things the general populace couldn’t dream of. The only person to blame is Marta Karoly.

    She actually did this exact thing at the Pacific Alliance Championships that year. Except that was much worse because she actually caught in a complete dead hang and needed to swing back and forth a couple times to continue.

    Carly Patterson was over scored on uneven bars!

      ………and on beam IMO! Two balance checks, and a really bad landing, yet somehow she came out with 9.612! Even the American commentators said that seemed like a high score for the performance!

    Marta's decision to put Carly on bars proved to be a huge mistake, as well as putting Kupets on floor. The mistakes McCool made were easily fixable in day 2, so McCool should've been put on bars and floor, probably beam as well

    • @beambreaker
      @beambreaker 2 роки тому +5

      I thought her taking McCool out completely was extremely rude and selfish. I’m sorry they all earned their spot there if they make a mistake they earned that mistake. To bring her to the Olympics and take her out was totally rude and she got her karma

    • @beambreaker
      @beambreaker 2 роки тому +1

      I Kupets defense tho, she injured her ankle and the mistake she made on floor was because she was trying to do a turn on the leg that she normally does not use… that’s really hard. So your right she should have taken her out and had her do bars only. She never made mistakes tho

      @@beambreaker I think it was a stress fracture in her hip. I do agree with you tho, Kupets is fully capable of bringing decent scores, I just don't think it was worth the risk when you're at the Olympics and a gold medal contender. Moreover, I wonder if putting Mohini on beam was costly as well. Because 1) She only had a 9.8 value value even if she hits everything, 2) Marta put her up at the very last minute, so she had little to no time to warm up. Don't get me wrong, she did great considering the circumstances, but I feel like Athens was Marta's worst management of the team lineup.

    • @mht4908
      @mht4908 2 роки тому +1

      @@beambreaker Yes that's very true. In this case, it didn't pay off. But also in 2010 Worlds, she gave Mattie Larson a second chance on floor in team finals, but her fall + missing a required composition cost the team gold, so that didn't work out either. That in no way excuses how McCool and Larson were shunned by Marta and the rest of the coaches tho. I remember seeing Larson being ignored by all the adults there except for Mihai (Alicia and Aly's coach), he was the only one who gave her a hug after that disastrous routine

    • @beambreaker

      @@mht4908 oh absolutely!!! The worst! Yes I agree! Carly never should have been on bars, mccool should have replaced kupets on beam and although I still like kupets on floor, I do get what your saying. Also side note I thought it was totally disgraceful they left Memell off the team considering worlds that year. She basically won us the gold PERIOD.

      Wesley Walker Ugh I disagree (respectfully)... She didn’t have a 10 SV on bars, Beam (OMG) she did NOT have a 10 SV (the front ariel LOSO LOSO was not connected, the dismount was always short, so no connection bonus or triple full credit)... Flor Same thing, no 10 SV

      @@2010hotmale2010 I still think she would have done better that a 9.4 on beam and a 9.2 on bars even without the start value. I have always thought there was some unknown reason for them not including McCool. I liked her floor routine way better than Kupets. Mohini saved the day on beam but I think McCool had the potential to have done better than her and yes nobody could foresee Carley's Bar issues but McCool was known for her execution on bars. under 2004 code of points I think Courtney McCool was the best option on bars and beam.

    Ha ha yeah, I think she was just nervous--the only thing that annoyed me was when the TJ Maxx tour was televised, and they showed a recap of the women's TF, they mentioned "mistakes" plural, but the one they showed was Courtney Kupets' mistake on FX

  • @SDoesNotKnow

      Yeah I know about that but she did win a lot domestically. She was jr national champion in 2002, co champ in 2004, and she won the American Cup in 2003 and 2004. Sadly domestic wins don’t necessarily equal international wins.
