How to Spot Hidden Sugars on ANY Nutrition Label
#GundryMD #Nutritionlabel #Nutrition
you must read this labels! it's that simple. Thanks Dr. Gundry for explaining it.
You're welcome, Susie! Yes, reading labels is so important. 🙏
Another rule of thumb is to avoid fruit juices altogether. Just eat the fruits. The fiber in fruits is necessary to process sugar, juice nearly eliminates that fiber and leaves you with all the sugar.
blended smoothies are fine.
juiced juices are not.
It's not that simple. If you take into consideration, simple carbs and complex carbs, the breakdown of the sugars are drastically different.
Don't vilify carbs, not all carbs are created equal or in this case teaspoons of refined sugar in the video.
Good point, chochobofett. Everyone is so busy villifying sugar, but failing to also call out processed animal products. Nothing wrong with healthy carbs.
Give examples of healthy carbs that also can be sweet
Last I checked it doesn't matter in which form the sugar is, its all the same when it gets broken down in the gut. So no, there is no good sugar and bad sugar, there is juat sugar in different forms.
@@Alex-ny1qg incorrect. Ask somebody who has diabetes and monitors their sugar levels.
What happens if they eat refined white sugar versus eating sweet potato? What does their sugar levels look like during a timeframe of 60minutes.
@@chochobofett5869 first of all as I said carbohydrates when eaten always turn into glucose, it's a sugar, now you can go on and say that complex carbohydrates which are fibers for example are not sugar and do not turn into such, thqt is indeed so, but that is why Dr.Gundry says to subtract the fiber content out of the total carbohydrates amount and then you are left with simple carbohydrates which always break down into sugar.
So what is incorrect about my statement? Or are you saying that all sources of carbohydrates are made up of complex carbohydrates and almost no simple carbohydrates? And where do you thing sugar comes from? How do we refine sugar?
Wow Doc, thank you!

Exactly !!!!! Thats the right decision !!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Not all of them are bad for you. Tuna, tofu, milk, and certain types of veggies that are packaged can be healthy.
none of the items you listed are processed food.@@blindthief

That's really useful. Thanks.
Thanks for this information.
I'm a diabetic, and I do this every day to know how much insulin to take... but my body reacts to fiber like it was sugar, too, so I have to compensate for it any way....most people aren't like that, but it seems we all have our own sensitivities to take into consideration, as well...
I love Dr. Gundry, he has helped me better understand why things in food work the way they do... I'm moving, and I can't wait to get my books 📚 out of storage! He's got some goods ones out! 🙂👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story. Keep up the good work! 💪
No, fiber goes through the body without doing anything except make you poop, fiber is not raising blood sugar. If your diabetes is very advanced, it could be your liver and kidneys creating sugar, also every food that is processed has added sugar or ways of raising blood sugar, please check all your foods, sauces, soups, everything, I am certain you will find more sugar raising foods in your kitchen
Thanks Dr. God bless you for that help🎉
You're welcome! 🙌

Dr. @@GundryMDYTtotal carbohydrate is per serving right?
Thanks. I never knew how read this. As a diabetic, I have only paid attention to carbs and then tried to guess if it were a simple or complex carb.
I stay away from boxed foods, canned foods, bagged foods, it's all in the isles of the grocery store, most of it is garbage artery clogging, ugly body making foods, just stay in the peripheral of the grocery stores, produce and meat section only, I only get about 9 or 10 of the same items constantly
Keep up the good work!! 🙌
Thankyou, very informative

For breads, pastas, crackers it is even more worse because Dr. Gundry explains on his podcast that those items are almost pure glucose. Table sugar is 50/50 glucose and fructose. So those products like bread made from bleached or whole grain flour will spike your blood glucose levels higher and faster than sugar!
Yes, and unfortunately, fruit is the same
It sounds like you guys are missing some details
The entire typical grocery store is under condemnation, just stick with the produce and meat section of the grocery stores, the rest is cancer making artery clogging, fat producing, ugly body making garbage that needs to be dumped in the landfills
Not if you freeze the bread and toast it
Glucose is better than fruictose, if you have to choose between sugar (50% glucose and 50% fruictose) or pasta, bread etc (more glucose less fruictose) always choose bread, pasta etc because glucose is processed by the whole body body vs fruictose only metabolised by liver . Fruictose is not monitored through glucose monitor and over consumption of fruictose is causing non alcoholic fatty liver diseases, increase inflammation and higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
God bless you and your family
That’s a great info 👏

thanks, doc I learned that from your long videos, and now every time I go to the store that's what I do, and 9 out of ten I put the item down, which is great. until these manufacturers change their practices and stop dealing with the sugar mafia companies we'll keep avoiding their products!!

What would everyone do if companies didn't have to print the food information. Scary thought. Americans are fat enough for three countries with labels. Thank you for the information. Good video from Sacramento
Okay but what about the different types of carbs?
Please explain to me why the different ways we break down sugar doesnt matter?

I didn't understand. In the organic raisins I buy it says Total Carb 36 g then what does it mean?
Hi there! Due to high volume, Dr. Gundry is unable to answer every incoming question. We appreciate the time you took to write this question, we will submit it to our growing list of FAQs. Thank you!
Or you can just multiply 12 times 3 since there’s 3 servings which means 3 times the sugar since it’s 12g of sugar per serving. On the mango drink? Or am I wrong.
That would be correct!
@@GundryMDYT yeah so the whole bottle is a 36g of sugar drink. But how much natural sugar can the average human being take. No sugar cane. Just natural sugar from plants. And what’s the most natural sugar one can take.
Or you could save yourself time and just avoid anything with high amount of carbs. It's basically the same thing as sugar anyway.
Then why don't they report it there? Could it be that the rest of the carbs come from other additives, such as starch???
Great question! Adding it now to our list to possibly cover in a future UA-cam video. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more exciting videos!
What is starch? It's a bunch of glucose molecules bonded together. What is glucose? A monosaccheride. What is a monosaccheride? A simple sugar. Starch becomes sugar when enzymes break the molecular bonds between the glucose molecules.
This should have been clarified in the video. It would be fair if he said net carbs which are nearly as bad as simple sugars. I follow his sentiment though and dont worry too much about the difference between complex and simple carbs - at least simple carbs taste more indulgent. Doesnt seem like him to blatantly misname something so simple so it feels like im missing something...
You can also take the short cut : Never buy processed foods, especially these kinds of Mango Juices. Liquid sugar they are. Terrible.
Brilliamt.🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for that.
Thank you for The facts
You're welcome !
love you
ok...how to detox from sugar???
Good stuff
Thank you, James!
I just noticed my favorite cracker had sugar n high fcsn n high sodium

There is a BIG Difference Between
READING a Label & UNDERSTANDING a Label.

But... he obviously doesn't understand it
There are other carbs besides sugar.

Are papaya seeds edable?
Hello there, interesting question! Dr. Gundry would be happy to answer any Plant Paradox related questions over on his Instagram @drstevengundry -- please feel free to send him a direct message or leave him a comment.
Isn’t that Illegal to claim that there’s only 1 gram of sugar when there’s really 30 grams of it?
Got the same question. How do companies explain these? Anybody got an answer?
No because legally they only have to call mono and disaccharides 'sugar', the others can be called 'carbohydrate'. Basically if something has 2 sugar molecules bonded together it is sugar but if it has 3 or more it is just carbohydrate.
@@RickyVis Thanks!
Cacao powder has like 20 gram of fibre and around 13 gram of sugar raw chocolate is healthy
A better option is to not buy anything that has a label
So true
@@coachdaveskateboardingnj2941, True, but good luck! I eat fresh produce only as I have Histamine Intolerance. But a lot of food now is in a package & it is getting harder now not to buy in a package. 😏😏😏
They made the truth hard to read when the label was designed 😮
But not all bodies react to sugar in that way

2 teaspoons of sugar per Reese's peanut butter cup
Is it per serving or for the all bottle?
It should differentiate between serving in bottle at the top of Nutrition Facts
Or look at the weight in the front, and compare to serving size
What if there is no fiber?
Simple. My food has only 1 ingredient.
That's great, James! 🙌
What can you eat?
Hi there! Thank you so much for your question. You can find Dr. Gundry's list of approved foods here: bit.ly/353B0iF. Thank you!
I never pay attention to sugar and only carbs, carbs are all that matter to me.
Protein count is important too. You must subtract protein from carbs to know your true number. I would’ve liked this video had it gone that further step versus starting an equation and stopping mid-math
I've known this for a very long time, I thought everyone just didn't care.. oops.
What about sorghum pasta?
