I saw them back in '87 or '88 when they opened for Iggy Pop. Twenty-plus years later, with NINJA, they still brought their A-Game to live performances. What you can't feel in the video is the intensity of Perry's reaction with the crowd. He feeds off of crowd energy, much like a stand-up or someone like Chelsea Handler, whose show is better when the audience is into it. Dave Navarro is a guitar god, maybe _the_ Guitar God, although J Mascis is another close one. Man, I love this band.
I hope now that Eric is in the band again, he doesn't pull a John Frusciante and say he won't play stuff off of Strays... I don't care that much for the last album, but so many songs from Strays would be great live... Please Eric... think about the fans.
really? in the 70's? Sure you can say REM or Husker Du were alternative first...but neither combined such a wide range of styles as JA. Not to mention a little tour called Lollapalooza...wich was THE "alternative rock" festival. Janes is responsible for a lot more than they get credit for.
I dont want to sound like someone that doesn't know anything about JA but there greatest hit album really does have there greatest hits exept for no one leavin' which is in Ritual de lo Habitual
thanks for the post @fleafly . its crazy that even after these guys get sober they release bomb shit! i see your a chili peps fan too. what do you think of the new album?
One of the things that I like about Perry and why I consider him one of the most important voices of the 90s is because he does sing things out of key sometimes. It's not just because he can't sing properly, he does it with such conviction that it forces you to not like the sound of it which makes him a genius.
Is it just me, or does anyone else hate it when the producers behind the filming of these rock shows feel the need to change the camera angle with every quarter beat of a song? I hate that!
shit singing from Perry, he did so much better in 2003. i feel for Chris, his bass playing was immaculate, but it's the Newstead syndrome, the original guy will always be better.
I hope Eric A doesn't pull a John Frusciante dick move and say he doesn't want to play any Strays material not that he is in the band again. RHCP should have played 'One Hot Minute' stuff when John came back!
These guys, Aerosmith and STP they carry on a certain tradition that started in a way with the Stones. Its a certain Charisma, a way they live their lives. They flaunt there blue color talant because they know their music is bigger than they are. I'm sure I'm skipping a band you like, my favorite band of all time is the Screaming Trees because what they meant to me at the time, not because they are the most talanted.
@@RC-fi8nn wow and I remember that day I was sitting at a library computer t when I wrote that! A little Tahitian Moon is just what I need...with a sprinkle of shiraz wine with brocolla crowns ( I eat healthy these days).
Okay seriously: Perry admittedly doesn't have the best voice, but he always sang with a lot of passion and verve, at least on record. Why does he always sound so weak live? His mix here has no presence, no "oomph", and they just cake it in reverb.
Best song JA ever did, and it rarely gets a mention....
I've never heard it before, and I've been listening since the 90's!
@@rabu-sanu - I love Perkins' drumming on it.
Best?? Don’t make me laugh. This is a joke compared to their earlier work.
Chris Chaney is crushing the bass on this song!!! Crushing it! He's awesome.
i have never heard any music as cinematic or powerful as this
I agree. That intro with the ethereal synth chorus or whatever it is... it's just glorius
I love this song. I think it could easily fit in Ritual. In fact, I love Strays era.
What a killer song! I had only heard a few older tracks as well as their album Strays.
Gettin a front from the Dopeman, Flying HIGH, and I pay you LATER. 😂 ALWAYS Loved this song and version, especially the melodic part.
Of course the Triple X/Nothing Shocking/Ritual albums are their best...but Strays and Great Escape Artist do not get the credit they deserve
Shit youre not wrong! I never gave this album the respect it deserves its actually awesome
Perry is fabulous! He is a fabulous junkie with a leg warmer on his arm... Today I am as well...
Chaney brings some great work to the table, this song grooves hard.
Dave you are great!
love this song, i didn't expected this good quality of the song not just for the video, the interpretation and the video sounds awsome! Thank you 🤩
All 4 of them are so dynamic n effective!!!! ultimately godlike!!!
Ritual de lo Habitual and Nothings Shocking are my favorite Janes albums.
These guys are very good live--have a good Indy rock kind of sound--very original material!!
Beautiful!! wonderful! Thanks Perry/Dave

Yeah, such a great song!!! "Strays" was such a great comeback album! I was pretty happy when this came out!
3:23 Powertrip by Monster Magnet
Like candy for my ears. Good perpormance
My favourite album is their self titled album, but that's kind of hard to find. If you can't find that one, go with Ritual de lo Habitual...
they only did 3 official albums and they are all great.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PERSON DAVE IS... BOTH PHYSICALLY AND ARTISTICALLY...
That snare! ❤️
I hope now that Eric is in the band again, he doesn't pull a John Frusciante and say he won't play stuff off of Strays... I don't care that much for the last album, but so many songs from Strays would be great live... Please Eric... think about the fans.

these guys know how to perform!
You're right. It's still very good, but it's just not the same without Eric Avery
janes addiction freaking rule!!!!!!!!!
because they practucally invented/defined "alternative" music.
I love Heroin bands.

I always do it wrong, but it feels right
If Eric would have played on this song it would have been so accepted.
Not a bad Jane's song...Open your minds!!!

@rufusdufus13 I've wondered that for years. I think it's a bird but I'm not sure.
fala mn
mars volta can kiss this
The Smashing pumkins wish they were as good as Janes Addiction!!!
All.
Chris Chaney is so impressive
jane's es la verga!!
@Kebabage Wow, not even close dude. I know Porcelina very well and I just don't hear where you are coming from. Great song by the Pumpkins though.
Perfection!! except the dodgy editing. No need to dramatise the camera work, Janes make the drama
Is it just me, or does anyone else hate it when the producers behind the filming of these rock shows feel the need to change the camera angle with every quarter beat of a song? I hate that!
perry is good singing man.
. 💋
It's al picino
@rufusdufus13 its a mosquito
no shit. I was saying that he sang so much better at other gigs/performances from that year
shit singing from Perry, he did so much better in 2003. i feel for Chris, his bass playing was immaculate, but it's the Newstead syndrome, the original guy will always be better.
Oii😮

There's an alternate universe out there where Eric is still in the band.
Perry is god.
god damn dave navarro stop being so sick

10 years late, but great comment

Chiva
no he doesn't
yea i know let us see the fucking band for at least 10 seconds without the camrea changingg
If the instrumental wasn't so good I wouldn't really like the singer much
this shit is the shit¡¡¡
This sounds nothing like Porcelina...
perry sounds a little like jim morrison at the beginning
So forgive me now and forgive me later...I'll pay you back🤍
Strays is so underrated,I love this album

who cares?
