For as many RHCP fans who shit on Navarro, you rarely see fans of JA doing that towards Flea. I certainly didn’t care much at all for him standing in for Avery, but, it wasn’t totally awful.
Saw them twice, I grew up in coral gables and went to the same schools as Perry, missed him by maybe 2 years. Nothings Shocking changed my life, Ritual changed my Afterlife, saw them twice, Jane's is pure esoteric beauty onstage, those are among my most treasured memories.
I was at the Halloween show just after this one on the East side at Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC. Flea was a great fit in the band in '97. They went all around the room from the tiki hut to scaffolding and during "Ted,Just Admit It", we got a hold of the MTV crane camera and brought it into the pit with us. This also invited 2 BIG Hell's Angels to the pit to retrieve it.😂 The encore of "I would for you" with Dave and Perry arm and arm was ❤
Yeah, man! Lights went out! Immediately they are on this stage at the back of the crowd. Which in Detroit was really hilarious, cuz there was really effed up people just laying around and shit! 😂
I saw this tour in Mesa AZ amphitheater. I didn’t know about this film. I’m seeing them in August in Las Vegas. Jane’s and The Cult, my only must sees left to see.
Perry Farrell screwed over his band and his long-term romantic partner and creative director Casey Niccoli who named his albums, designed his album covers and early stage shows, co-created the sculptures on Nothing's Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual, directed their videos and often appeared in them, gave Perry her wardrobe and sense of style (which is what drew Perry to her in the first place), and financially supported Perry in the early days. Her thanks was that Perry abandoned her when she developed a terrible addiction (which Perry himself shared) and she was locked out of her own home. He at least admitted the kind of person he was in the Classic Girl lyrics: "Such a classic girl, gives her man great ideas. Hears you tell your friends, 'Hey man, listen to my great idea!' It's true I am a villain when you fall ill, that's probably because men never can be-not like a girl, a classic girl, such a classic girl." ...not only did he tell on himself about taking credit for her ideas, he even told on himself about how he would behave if she fell ill. He *did* become a villain when she fell ill. As great as Jane's Addiction was, Perry took most of the credit for himself in the most egotistical and selfish way. Not only did he take credit for Casey's work and abandon her after her years of loyal support and artistic contribution, while renegotiating contracts, Perry demanded 50% of the royalties for writing the lyrics and another 25% of the remaining 50% because he worked on the music, too. So, for all the great work everybody else put into the band, Perry demanded 62.5% of the money, leaving the other 3 band members to receive just 12.5% each. This contract renegotiation forced them to either accept Perry's demands or break up the band. That's what broke up the band at the height of their fame if you didn't know...oh, and Casey was paid just a piddly amount for her contributions when the band broke and she was told the band would never get back together. It's funny Perry presents himself as a well-intentioned guy who just wants everyone to be happy. In the 80s, he was like the Fireclown in Michael Moorcock's book The Fireclown (aka The Winds of Limbo): a charismatic revolutionary who advocated for radical change and preached against the stagnation and authoritarianism of the society in which he lives. The Fireclown's rhetoric and flamboyant persona attracted a following of people who believed in his vision of a freer, happier world. However, his methods and the consequences of his actions reveal a more ambiguous and darker side to his character. From now on, I will refer to Perry as The Fireclown...or simply 🤡. I hope it catches on.
@@GarbagePailKyuss You should pick up *The Secret War Against the Jews: How Western Espionage Betrayed The Jewish People* by John Loftus and Mark Aarons to learn how the USA and UK have scapegoated the Jewish people for decades. The USA and the UK have caused untold numbers deaths to their supposed allies and millions of innocent people in their greedy quest for oil by pretending to be their allies and then selling their secrets out to their enemies.
