I lost my rod and reel, and I love pike fishing. Are there any suggestions, I was looking at a ugly stick g2x, is that any good. I like the look of this rod but If it’s bad then there’s no point in buying it other than the case.
almost any rod is going to be good if you get the right action and lure weight for the type of fishing you are doing. after reading a lot about the 4 piece rods, almost all of them have the problem that the Shakespeare has if they are a light action rod. I would get a 2 piece 6' light action rod for pike fishing that will give you a 1/16 - 1/4 oz lure size (honestly you can go bigger than 1/4) but that perfect for pike and you will have no problem landing a 20 pounder with 8lb line which pairs with that type of rod.
hey, saw your video. just wanted to ask what are your thoughts on daiwa beefstick? is it any good? im talking about a 12ft one. also i hear that it is stiff as a pole? according to you which rod is best for surf fishing? i wanted to combine the beefstick with a BG 8000..
I think it's hard to go wrong with a surf rod. I am using the ats-1200a (cheap) and Ive been using it for years. I am not familiar with the BG 8000 since I primarily use penn, but based on the specs shit, Id go shark fishing with that setup and not worry about a thing. I might have to get that BG 8000 myself and test it out.
If you want a good pack Rod check out the eagle claw Trailmaster Elite or the Daiwa presso 4 piece ultralight rod or the Daiwa Spinmatic rod. Absolutely great video by the way.
Its not that bad honestly. I bought a 4 piece ugly stick after this video and smacked in on a rock (not that hard) and it did the same thing. Unless you get a medium action 4 piece (gross) you'll have this with any medium light or light action.

Buck Henderson it’s only sensitive to impacts, so if you are careful you’ll be fine. The reel is awesome. I’m still using that and I have another rod in the carrying case.
I am pretty sure thats what it is. I have an ugly stick 4 piece rod review coming out next week and it had the same problem. I just bought the eagle claw trail master 4 piece so thats the next one I plan on breaking.
Tbh rods great bending it like that I can see any rod breaking besides a ugly stick let’s be honest I don’t handle rods like that when fishing why test it like that ????
Funny thing about your comment. I bought the ugly stick and it also broke the same way haha. Maybe I am hoping for more than manufacturers are giving. I think in my head I want it to be like my steal head rods that are light action and bent from tip to handle no problem, but that may be to much to ask in a 4 piece rod.

Well... I just got this rod as a beginner rod for Christmas... GREAT. LoL let’s see if I break it on my first outing! 😝
