I’ve loved fishing ultralight for over 40 years. I’ve always caught more on this rug than others. Plus as an ad said years ago, more fish come in smaller sizes than larger size. And a small fish caught on ultralight feels like a large fish.
I live in Australia and got an ultralight for chasing trout and perch. Yesterday I hooked a carp 2.5 feet long, after a tremendous fight we brought it in
Hi Im fishing around Naturaliste in south west WA I got into ultralight chasing whiting Went heavy in to it because the gear is suitable for dam, river, estuary, beach, jetty, boat and rock Only gear i need always
I've fished almost exclusively ultralight the past few years and it's been a blast. I think it was one of your videos that turned me on to the Mimic Minnow lure, that's one of my go-to's now, it catches so many fish!
Chew Magna, are you West country English? I ask as I fish Chew Magna reservoir for trout a few times a year here in the UK😀. I am coming over to Vermont in June for a spot of bass fishing with my light line gear. All the best Peter
@@PeterFryfishing Ha, no, I'm American. I got this name from a book (The First King of Shannara by Terry Brooks), and it wasn't until years later that I found out it's the name of a real place.
@@Brunnen_Gee thats ironic, I use to work for the company that published Terry Pratchett and met him on a few occasions 😀. Google Chew Magna Bristol Waters and have a look at the trout lakes. Thanks for the reply
Spandex lol. I devised a great method to prevent wind knots with the ultralight line. The answer is an oversize reel with braid backing on a triple surgeons knot to the mono line. Also when the line slaps the rod it reduces the distance a lil bit but it helps with line management where feathering is not necessary. Sound counter productive but for us who hate wind knots its a great hack. Happy fishing yall
Brendan brother I always have my ultra light 4’6” or my 5’ rod and real with me every time I go fishing even if I’m fishing for giant catfish or walleye never know what you may catch or what creek pond or stream you may pass on the way to just stop and take a couple cast at and if the big cats are not biting yet fish for some fresh bait is always nice to do as well great video keep up the good work brother
I use baitcasters for top water baits and large jig fishing but I normally use light rods for the rest of the stuff. Swim baits Ned rigs drop shots. I use an okuma 7ft light. If there is not much brush to hang up on I use it extensively. I’ve brought in just under 7 pounders using this set up with 10 pound straight braid from suffix
I’ve got a 6’ light action rod and a 5’6” UL. Took the latter down to a popular spot with a small swim bait on a 1/32 Oz head and the 13” smallie that nailed it 2nd cast fought like an absolute champ it’s great!
I use to be the average bass angler with all bass equipment. I started multi species fishing with uktra light and finesse fishing I have caught more bass and my PB bass finesse fishing. I think finesse fishing is the art of fishing
Another exciting fact of UL fishing: the rod is short and soft, the reel and line is smaller brings so much more vivid sensation while fishing. I never feel so much vivid vibration and turning of my lure, either is a spoon, a T-tail jigs, so much more movement feeling in the water. And surely a little tackle and bit is so much more amplified, not to mention the actual bite. I pretty much stopped using medium and heavy rods since they are just so numb so hard to cast in precision. Only when you know there's deep big water and there are big stuff out there, like 10% of the time. Every time I have 2-3 rods with me, I end up with just using UL rods and having good fun.
My Shakespeare ugly stik 36 inch rod is damn near my favorite rod I do a lot of creek fishing and it work’s amazing I’ve caught 4 pound largemouth on it and big smallmouth it’s a fun rod to use! Awesome video
Have an Ugly Stik ultra lite paired with a Pflueger President. Pflueger uses "20" to size the reel. I believe it's the smallest version of this reel. Been excellent so far. Using 10 lb braid.
First time I caught your video. I really enjoyed your using ultralight gear and your comments on it. I hope to do more ultralight fishing this year and catching more fish
As always, love the videos. I’ve been favoring my medium rod lately at the river, but you got me thinking my light setup might be just right for the upcoming conditions.
Oh yeah fun video yeah I had my bass setup going fishing with my buddy and he has his crappie set up. He was catching all different species and I only caught one decent bass. I was hooked from then on cause he catch a 4 pound catfish on that little rod.
Binged a lot of your videos about a year ago and have been fishing an UL set up ever since! Thank you for sharing your set up too. I’ve been rocking an Okuma Ceilio with a Okuma Ceymar 30.
Hope that 500 size Pfluger doesn't let you down. I had one that definitely did. I caught a nice Rainbow and I fought it hard , but he would have never got away with a 1000 size reel of anything. I'll give it to you it's brand new. Pflugerville 500 Trion.
Big Fenwick fan, I use a Fenwick eagle 5'6" ultra light moderate spinning rod, it is awesome! BTW I have it spooled up with 10 lb braid/ 4 lb mono yozuri leader on an Okuma Stratus VI 3000 series reel. whippy rod, throws 32nd ounce jig heads... plinking with this setup makes me feel like a sniper, casting right where I want sight fishing creeks. Anyway, love the videos!
A 3000 reel on a ultra light rod 😮 whaaattt isn’t that a way way to big of a reel? I have a 5-6 Fenwick eagle ultra light with a 1000 reel it’s perfect. 1000 size reels are commonly use on ultra lights.
@@carlitosverduzco88 All reels are a bit different by manufacturer, and spool size and how far the spool sits away from the rod vary as well. I find this Okuma reel fits me nicely, and although it wraps a lot of line, I find the bigger spool helps me avoid wind knots more. Really no downside to it. Use what you find works, and experiment a bit and you might learn something new!
I've watched your channel for a long time and I like your videos, I would like to see you get a bass boat that would be even more of a game changer for you, if you get like a 90s bass tracker that's all you'll need for a bass boat, and they don't cost a arm and a leg
I am looking for an ULTRALIGHT ( 3 oz or so) ultra small Fishing reel. It will be going on my ultra super light weight 30" telescopic carbon fiber. fishing pole 48grs. of total weight. ( Yes, it's durable ) TESTED & it will cast out up to 30 yards easy. ( Or more ) It's for backpacking. I'm putting together an ultralight kit. My current reel weighs 5.8grs. It's feels quite heavy on this little rod. I'd like to try to balance out the weight a LITTLE closer. Plus it will help lighten my pack overall. After all, weight is weight regardless.
Love those Eurotackle baits. Just be aware that their plastics are not compatible with the fly box you showed. The baits will react with the clear cover. You have to remove the bait before putting it back in the box.
I got ultra light ugly stik rod that is 160cm tall and can hold 7g lures, i throw a bit more but it can hold it, and i caught a lot of northern pikes that were 2kg
If you're on rocks in shallow water be careful. Throw crappie jig as soon as it hits water retrieve lure 4 seconds pause 1 second to let jig fall a little pop rod tip then retrieve again 4 seconds. When pausing 1 second to let jig fall then pop let it fall 1 second then retrieve a fish maybe on after popping rod tip. This is a simple but effective technique I've caught tons of smallies 3 to 4lbs. Pause only 1 second after retrieve then pop rod because shallow water it would get snagged or you breaking rod. If lure gets snagged create a lot of slack in line. This will relieve tension on rig. Pop rod tip on slack line. Flip bait pull out 4 arms length of line from the reel.
i know it’s been a while since you uploaded this. but what should my drag be around on my ultralight? especially since some of these creek fish are massive
I'm thinking about getting an ultralight combo, but I don't know what kind of line to put on it. Mono or light braid, I have also heard of nanofil line and I don't know what would be the best.
It really depends on the fishing you are doing. I ended up buying 2 so I could rock a 10lb braid for pike in the creeks back in the woods and the second I got mono for bobber/trout fishing or anything that is line shy.
ALL YOU NEED FOR CRAPPIE IN SPRING IS A CANE POLE WITH LINE &Leader a Cork and Small weight n hook. But Reel offers more flexibility AND DONT SNATCH their Mouths Tear Easy.

Love ultralight. I think the most important thing is having a good drag and knowing how to set and use it while using light line.

I fish ultralight for Muskie and pike in Canada. They are absolutely the most versatile rods.
I love my ultra light setup. Every fish is a big fish on an ultra light! It's a lot about the fight! Good video man.

Love ultralight been using ultralight gear for around 30 years. Caught my biggest large mouth bass on 4lb trilene, 13lbs
Rod is by "Lew's." I picked one up from Walmart for cheap and wasn't expecting much but it's a really great little rod that comes in several lengths.
Glad you clarified the Chest Mount. Wouldn't want to catch you in suspenders.

My 2nd ultralite came in the mail today, 3rd one will be tomorrow, to give some perspective, I bought my 1st ultralite like 2 months ago.
I just bought a UL setup. Will definitely try your baits. Great video. Glad i ran into your channel
Can i use soft lure for catching river fresh water fishings ...

Nice to see a new fishing 🎣 video of you happy fishing Saturday I sometimes also love to take my light spinning Abu Garcia combo for pier fishing

Nothing wrong with suspenders my guy!😊 you can rock a piss without taking them off! Lol
What is the rod? I’ve been trying to find it but I can’t :/
You need to try out BFS ( Bait Finesse Setup). That also fun too
Are you using a leader? If so what’s your favorite?
Excellent video Brother
This morning I was getting giant smallies using trout magnets
is there a reason why ultra light spinning reel 500size were so expensive compared to 1000/ 2000size spinning reel?
Where are you
fishing
my rod is soft, it come with fast action but it is action extreme slow. maybe I should get solid fiberglass instead of tubular
Bro... you look good in suspenders.

Hello my friend I’m from Cambodia 🇰🇭 fishing rod ultralight, use with Texas rig good or not 😊
what size braid should i use I'm new to fishing.
Would a Shimeno zodias light rod be good for this?
What a fun video 🤙
Speed stik is made by lews right?
Can you use these in saltwater
What pound test of Uro tackle braid (and color) are you using on your ultralight and do you use a flourocarbon leader?
6lbs
Is 6lb braid to heavy for this set up?
Also do you use a leader or strait braid. Thanks!
I use cheap braid rated at 4lb. 6 lb is good choice. Also use leader range between 8 to 12 lb
Can you put a link to the rod
Is that a size 20?
How you not lose big fish on this. I lost a big one today and I am really bummed out
Bro we need a catch and cook
ALL YOU NEED FOR CRAPPIE
IN SPRING IS A CANE POLE
WITH LINE &Leader a Cork
and Small weight n hook.

Where did you get the jig holder box?
it’s from euro tackles website
Didn’t know Brandon could beatbox lol.
3rd reason A and 3rd reason B
Best way to fish unless you catch something to big lol
He called a small mouth a bronze back
What if you got an super ultralight 😭😂
