I use the 5ft.6in. baitcasting version, here in England, for small stream fishing. Absolutely brilliant. Recently upgraded it with a Runcl SC180 baitcaster, from which I've removed one carbon fibre drag washer to make it's max. drag force compatible with '4lb.' Gamma Superflex mono. Routinely landing 2-3lb. small stream pike on this outfit while fishing for perch.

My wife gave me the 5'6" for xmas a couple years ago, and it has been my number one fish catcher. All the way from finger sized sunfish to 3lbs largemouth.
TOTALLY worth the $20, especially if you take care of your gear.

Never knew there was a 7 ft bought it this weekend and caught my limit of stocked trout mixed with brown in a NM mountain stream with a rooster tail spinner. Way better feel than the 5 6 ft one.

I have one of the 4’ micro combos and just picked up another combo for $21 on sale at Walmart. They are great for trout and panfish! The 4’ fits behind the seat so it’s easy to have a rod any time. The second one is for my daughter. This year she upgraded from the kids zebco spincast to the Shakespeare microlite and it fits her hands well and is getting her used to using a modern spinning reel. For the price it’s an amazing value.

My 10 yr old son has a couple in the 4’6” length and they are amazing. We pair them with piscifun carbon x 500 reels and it is a very durable combo. With 4lbs line it can whip 1/64 trout magnet lures out there. The size makes it much easier for a kid to move around with or an adult to get around brush and low hanging branches.
The 4’6” is very flexible, I have one setup with a fly reel and it is great for small creeks and streams. I don’t know if any other rod has the flexibility to do that. The longer ones are a little less flexible.

They have updated their 5'6" model that an issue with breaking near the middle for being a 2 piece. The new rods are black now, but all the same specs.

I have a BFS reel on one and it's fantastic. I bought it as a combo with a cheap spin cast reel attached because I liked the action so much.

Hey Casey or humbug! I was the kid that picked up a couple rods with my dad at scheels today or for whenever your seeing this, on Wednesday. I just wanted to say the rod is great and looks sick with my Daiwa baitcasting reel! Also, the spinning reel that I picked up is buttery smooth and looks cool on my Abu Garcia vendetta rod. Thanks for the help! So all I can say is Hopefully you see this

Picked up this rod camping because I snapped my st Croix and I went fishing with it with a 1/24 rooster tail and I caught a good size crappie and pickerel and it handled them no problem.

I have a 5.5 in both spin and bait cast. I’ve been using them for over 5 years and love them still. I put 10lbs braid so fighting bigger fish is a blast. My 7 yo just landed a 4lbs the other day in Marsing.

I find at least two rod broken on the ground by the lake last winter just fishing for stocker trout. Now my son broke his Shakespeare last week. Cork is the look of old school look. My Lew's classic baitcaster black and gold with a cork looks so nice from Walmart. You want your rod to be more sensitivity break the tip off to the next eye lids and put a new one on it will be more sensitivity for you. Fast fix to fixing sensitivity what I've seen over the past 35 years of fishing.

I have the 4'6 and the 7', I caught a 23" brown from shore in lake Michigan on the 4'6 and a 35" northern pike with the 7' in lake Michigan from shore as well, with proper drag control and technique, you can land decent size fish with these rods, however, I do suggest upgrading the reel if you plan on trying catching larger fish like what I managed, I used a daiwa crossfire 3000 with 30 pound trilene braid main line and 10 pound spiderwire fluorocarbon leader for both fish

What reels do you recommend for the 4'6?

I have the 5’6” UL series. I had it paired up with some other maybe 1000 or 2000 reel with maybe like 10lb braidthat I always add a 4lb FC leader on it, but just find casting very light lures such as small inline spinners like Joes Flies(which I love) find very difficult due to the weight.. I’m thinking maybe I’m not matching this right, would you suggest like a Okuma ceymar 500? With what ideal line? I use the combo solely for wading small overgrown creeks and streams for trout.

Shimano Sienna combo 5'6" for 52$ right now. Probably the best deal going now, imo.. For a UL.. The Okuma Cascade 2 6ft combo in medium light for around 35$ is a good deal too..

Bought the UL 5’ version, I’m just stumped on what spinning reel will pair well with this, I plan on using 6lb braid with a 4lb flouro leader.
