I have got a Xbox Crystal version of this, just a reskin version that was way more expensive than the original model. But I gotta say that Xbox is still a bit better than PS2 in terms of graphics quality but in many ways... I just love my PS2 alot more for other reasons, but when I want quality gaming of graphics... I either go for PC or Xbox, or the newer PS4 Pro and such. Still waiting for the PS5 Pro release later this year (hopefully) but yea. Some real fun nostalgic games at this point are GTA San Andreas, some of the Burnout games, Def Jam Fight For New York, and some off brand games that came with discs, not sure where they came from but they had some nice games on those discs... Xbox were a fun console for sure back in the early 2004s and I enjoyed every moment with it.
Ah the crystal XBOX is very nice, I only have this original black model :) The original XBOX is a powerhouse for sure & serval games I have for it and the PS2, the XBOX version is better :) Sadly, as shown in this video, to get the best out of the video quality, you need to mod the PAL XBOX, get Component cables, use progressive scan modes & then the true potential of the XBOX comes through :)
@@TheAffroShowGameplay Yeah, on a good CRT TV these games display quite nicely with vivid colors compared to a digital display, the CRT technology has a charm to it that cannot be replicated with todays technology but there is also plasma TVs that has come close to that technology but with some side effects of burn ins on the screens, so yeah CRT TVs and display is legendary for sure, aswell as S-video capable displays. There is many ways to enjoy a game these days. I personally use Retrotink 5X Pro with my digital MSI Optix G32 Series display and I am having a really good output with it when paired with Retrotink, although with no CRT flicker effect, I still get a clean and somewhat decent image. But I miss the days of flickering refresh rate CRT TVs from Grundig and some other TV brands back in the day. Just alot of fun to get that best quality image and audio with analogue feel. That stuff is difficult to reproduce today and it often costs alot of money to get a CRT TV and analogue sound speaker system either built-in or external, it can help alot with the experience of nostalgia for sure. It brings me to tears of joy whenever a encounter a good video game setup like that... as it is quite rare today to even see someone having era specific gaming peripherals and CRTs. I really enjoy retro nostalgic video gaming on a Grundig CRT because it had it all.
Ah I can completely understand & I bet this would look good on a CRT :) Although I grew up with them, I was never really wowed at least not with Composite xD I really enjoy what I get from my 4K TV or my Macbook using the OSSC & it's line multiplying function but, as I always say to anyone, play how you feel makes you happy 😁
This was a mod I brought pre-made but it has a Hard Drive mod & new software that allows for DVD disk copying & changes the bio to allow NTSC resolutions :)
pal xbox videos seem to be a rarity on youtube... thanks for this educational vid. i'm as well in a PAL region and didn't know how gimped the vanilla xbox is in comparison to NTSC
A lot of people did not know, or realise until very recently & because most original XBOX videos are from the NTSC region, everyone assumed this was the case for PAL systems! Hopefully now everyone knows what they can do to get the best video output for the system or if an alternative might be a better solution!
Another great video mate, cheers! I'll be honest, I didn't know any of that! (Call myself a gamer, slap on the wrists for me!) I did have an OG Xbox back in the day, but as I think I said before, my biggest game collection was for the PS2. I think I had half a dozen or so Xbox games so didn't really play it much. I ended up selling it on a car boot and almost immediately regretted it. I bought one off CEX a few years ago as I had some credit and got a copy of Oddworld: Strangers Wrath too. And now I know why it looks so awful! I said before, I have a 32" HDTV in my collection room I use for gaming and even on that it looks terrible. I did soft-mod it so maybe the settings can be changed there. If not I'll bung it in the Series X and see if it works on that. I have a 360 and some years back I tried to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee on it. I was overjoyed when it worked on Level 1! Then I was really depressed when it played Level 2 with no sound! 🤣Then Level 3 had sound, but Level 4 didn't. It was like that for the whole game, every other level silent as a graveyard! But I hadn't played that game since the early 2000's and I was darned if having no sound for half the game was going to stop me reliving that experience! You've got to laugh!
Ah do not worry, I only found out this problem two years ago & of course most of the original XBOX videos out there are NTSC so, most of us assumed the PAL version was the same when in fact it wasn't :) This is why I make videos on PAL systems because it is not well documented how different they are from NTSC systems :) Sadly, the forced Flicker Filter is the main culprit & it is why a modded PAL XBOX is a must for the best video output! Haha you are brave xD The XBOX 360 & above are still good ways of experiencing original XBOX titles & the Series X actually sometimes upgrades the graphics, frame rate or both!
