I'm 16 hours sober, and this video has helped tremendously. I've recently just resigned from a remote position which I despised, as it was tremendously isolating and I found myself drinking cheap sugary boxed wine all day, every day, on the job... constantly telling myself I'd quit the next day (which I never did). There are no longer any excuses. The way you described the symptoms just now is spot on for me... I barely have the energy to move between my bed and couch, yet my heart is beating through my chest. I'm going through this no matter what.
It was the inability to get to sleep that was unbearable. Every time I'd close my eyes, I'd get these explosions of colours and patterns that would snap my eyes back open.
I’m 41 years old and lost everything because of drinking drugs and gambling. I’m sober 30 days now but it’s really hard because I feel bad and feel like I can never recover. Hopefully if I stay sober I will find my self mentally and accomplish more in life. Cheers
Keep fighting David and keep moving forward. Small goals. It is worth every second of the struggle as you get stronger and find freedom. Good luck and much love to you
First day sober, the last few weeks I was drinking a fifth or more. Got rushed to the ER when my pulse jumped to 160bpms, blood pressure at the ER was 213/90. Shaking uncontrollably and extremely faint/dizzy. I was so scared, thought I was going to die. That was 7 hours ago. Bpm is averaging between 100-120 when standing up. Thank you for this!
How could I of got to that phase so fast?! It wasn't even 12 hours since my last drink. I was actually leaving the gym when it kicked in, got mw by surprise lol.
The first time I experienced withdrawal I didn't even know what it as. I didn't think I drank enough to consider it a possibility and hadn't changed my habit. I thought I had MS. Hypertension is my scariest withdrawal problem. I've hit 200/120 a couple days into withdrawal from 12-15 drinks/day. I've definitely gone multiple days without sleeping a few times too.
@@BlkwtrPrk the same thing happened to me when I first experienced withdrawal. At first I didn't know alcohol withdrawal was such a thing, until I went on UA-cam looking at and researching videos and I found out I had all the symptoms.
Finally a good video on quitting alcohol. I'm trying to taper and it is not easy. Blood pressure goes up when my body expects the usual nightly alcohol dosage. It comes down after 4-5 shots.
My hubby went through shaking 1st day, insomnia first 4 days, 12 days feeling very cold and diarrhoea unable to do anything bar go to the bathroom right through Xmas. I’m on day 5 home detox right now and am doing much better. Electrolytes, vitamins, rest, extra clothes and sheets next to the bed, always always drinking water, antacids, antidiarrheal, etc. The number one thing though like you said so well was acceptance that I’m going to go through hell to get to the other side. I remember the scene in the movie A Perfect Storm when George Clooney’s character says about the storm “she’s not going to let us out”. That what it felt like to me. You have to know yourself. If you're an alcoholic one drink can "flip the switch" and put you right back into the alcoholic mindset. If you're not, only drinking once would just give you a hangover, not the kind of withdrawal Tim is talking about. You have to be careful. However this time has to be different. Ironically I’ve juts returned from holiday in an all inclusive resort where drinks were free at any time and as much as you want and the crazy thing was I drank considerably less every day , some days having just one or two drinks with dinner. I came home feeling great then started again and have been back on the old path for the last week. This time It’s got to be different. the Only thing I don't like is that Nobody Ever specifies what or How much they drink prior to quitting cold turkey. For me, Beer was my drink and I only drink on average 4-6 beers a night. is it safe ? or how about those that only drink 2 beers a night ?
Generally if it’s 4 to 6 beers a night it would probably be safe to stop. But if your not sure check with a doctor. I was drinking vodka , most days 2 bottles. I wouldn’t recommend cold turkey at that level . A doctor could prescribe diazepam or Librium to help a safe detox or a professional detox over 3 days is sometimes offered! Good luck my friend

Like I said though I have 750ml vodka every other day. I've stopped before for 9 months and it was amazing but this time it's so much harder to slow down or stop period.
@@monstermind4286 we can do it, just remember how good you felt before

I had gotten off opiates several yrs ago.. It was terrible... Now I've had a back injury and they put me on them again.. I dreaded this.. plus I started to have some drinks again too... I'm trying to stop drinking first.. Is that a good way to go about this?? I'm so upset 😢
i guess if its ridley scott i will pay attention.
Sounds like if something’s going to happen it would happen in the first week , not sure

Everyone is different my friend but if your drinking daily and can’t stop when you start it will keep progressing and getting worse!
For me is insomnia and itching all over

I have the will power / was always a gym guy
I’ve been there Stuart! Start again , and learn from it . Look carefully at what triggered it and work on that . Get back in the gym and next time your feeling like drinking reach out and talk to someone. Perhaps look at aa aswell it helps me tremendously. Good luck my friend
thank you
Day 5 after 40 years
It's an old joke...Just stay drunk.
the Only thing I don't like is that Nobody Ever specifies what or How much they drink prior to quitting cold turkey.
Thank you 🙏💗
