365 days since I gave up drinking. This channel helped SO, SO, SO MUCH. My life is back on track and I've lost 60 pounds and have energy I haven't had in 10 years. "I left my running shoes by the door. Whenever I had a craving, I put them on and went on a run." You have no idea how much this single piece of advice helped. Thank you, Chris.

There are several factors in giving up drinking including eg motivation and support from friends.
One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Sebs Magic Tactic (google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 method i've heard of.
Check out all the website SebsMagicTactic.com and awesome reviews.

That's great! The book "30 Days to Sobriety" by Harper Daniels takes a mindfulness approach. Alcohol is a toxin that tricks the mind into believing its needed....there's also a lot of societal conditioning involved. I recommend the book. It's short. Pass it on or post it on social media....you can really help someone out.

I quit drinking last year after being a daily beer drinker for 35 years. Might sound like BS, but the way I quit was by verbally telling myself I dont drink anymore and that "I'm not a drinker". Basically, everytime I felt like a trip to the liquor store, I would tell myself out loud that I dont drink. Sometimes it didnt work, and i would have a beer or two...but the very next day it was right back to the mantra. The verbal cue got me past the danger zone on many occasions and eventually I didnt even think about drinking. This worked for me. The BIGGEST obstacle is allowing a night of drinking to convince you that you are still a drinker. Dont let it.

It's as simple as this, sometimes I don't understand why some people spend thousands on rehab (although to be fair it does work for some). An angle such as the one Steffon Barkload takes on his website seems much more healthier to me, and it's impossible to fail if you follow the steps.

You are so right about the alcohol/sugar connection as well as the benefits of those vitamins, chamomile, etc. I have already adopted a new way of eating, which means very low carbs, and I look forward to ridding myself of my inflammation and desire for toxic substances. Like all terrible habits - the "I'll start tomorrow" or "next week" or worse yet "next month" is the real danger. "start now" is the most powerful way to start. The reason we fail is because we put off goals. The reason we succeed is because we scratch the surface and take things on daily. Alcoholics don't give a second thought to cracking open a bottle - and this is the same power you must develop for being sober and engaging your real goals - not even a second thought, just doing them, and enjoying them - thus enjoying life.

Woke up a few times covered in sweat I could feel my heart beating through my limbs I stopped for like a week then drank about 4-6 drinks per day malt liqour it’s a lot easier to manage no heart pains and I believe if you don’t have chest pains or pressure in your chest you’ll make it through by tapering, if you feel pressure in your chest constantly it’s prolly cut back time xD

I've struggled with depression and anxiety for 15 years. I never touched drink before 20. It took quite a few years but I'm now 30 and the past 3 years I've ended up as a daily drinker. I have had 2 alcohol free days recently but I never last... My natural anxiety is increased now. I used to always live on edge I believe it is one of the biggest reasons I started drinking. Its very interesting the science behind the neurotransmitters and getting them back into balance. I really am interested in getting help. Like you say you don't want to simply exist as a recovered alcoholic who feels miserable.

Honest to God, I don't know if I should be more grateful or be more furious that this type of critical info is finally getting into the ears and hands of those who need it most. My fiance died at 46 in 2013 and I have been to treatment eighteen times in a handful of years. My chronic, severe alcoholism was worsened by anorexia and more strenuous exercise. I eventually resorted to drinking mouthwash, hairspray, hand sanitizer, perfumes and even rubbing alcohol. I hate the shame, blame, and criminal treatment that an ignorant, though sometimes well-meaning society places on "alcoholics" Thank you so much for your response and help and support to this tragic horror that is sweeping our country in ever increasing numbers. I have been a week sober as of today and plan on going a year. Every time his birthday comes I get that feeling Of guilt, I could’ve been more compassion, could’ve woken up earlier to get things done so I could be more attentive, but from now on I’m am going to be real to myself and my son.

And so far so good I do different exercises every day, it took years but calisthenics won out , ( I hope, so far) and I’d rather do burpees or jump rope than drink, drinking turned me into a pathetic mess, a lot of regret, but does anyone really care but me? Well, in January, a trip to the emergency room with a serious heart arrhythmia was my wake up call. Turns out i was poisioning myself on many fronts. I was drinking 90 units per week, consuming huge amounts of sugar, sweeteners and caffine through fizzy drinks. Vaping 12mg @15ml nicotine per day. After a while the body says thats it. Although i was very strong i was also deeply unfit at the same time. Resting heart rate was above 110 a week or so prior to the arrhythmia incident. I could be sitting down and my heart would take off above 150 bpm for no aparent reason. Fast foreward to now,
    Caffine removed
    Vaping nicotine removed
Sugar input through poor diet reduced 90%
Artificial sweeteners avoided like the plague (Turns out the arrhythmia was Aspartame poisioning)
Got back into running, 5k 16:44
    I couldn't run 50 m back in January.
    Have i quit alcohol? NO
Im have no addiction to it consume 20 units per week now.
I thaught it was just the alcohol messing me up. Clearly, there's plenty of other things that are very bad, if not much worse for you than alcohol
Resting heart rate typing this is currently 44 bpm.... MUCH BETTER!
    Regards
    Leo

I would totally recommend the zero alcohol beer Heineken . It tastes the same as regular Heineken and it’s great to take to dinners or parties as you can fully participate and most people don’t even realise you are drinking zero alcohol. At the end of the evening you drive home. Particularly good after physical effort when you really want to chug a cold beer. The difference is that you can go back and keep working after a refreshing beer rather than sitting on the couch.
And it has very low sugar and carbs, and it’s cheap.
      Give it a go.
