In this video I show you how to re-gas your BMW 5 Series e60 A/C. Its quick and easy to do with the Car Air Conditioning Recharge STP R134a Air Con Re Gas Top Up Gas Refill DIY kit. Best vid out there on this issue and fix (they're some truly bad ones!).
I just did my F30 and it's blowing nice and cold now. But i couldn't seem to get the dial above 25 (bottom of the green zone) on the recharging kit. Maybe a faulty dial? I stopped once it was blowing cold in the cabin as I didn't want to overcharge it.

I think you did the right thing. You definitely didn't want to over presurerise the system. You can always top it up again if you notice it getting warm.

I have noted some people on net saying do not use the sealant for a/c if pressure very low as the sealant needs gas in system. (Some have said big problems if resealing without enough gas in system) Do you think you could check and top up with regas to just fill it a little. Then add sealant circulate it, and then regas to Norma level.
@Simon Tredwell Hi Simon, yes I have heard the same recently and thinking about it that could make sense. The sealant would definitely move around the system better with some pressure in the system. So I think what you said is a great idea! 👍🏻thanks for sharing!
Great video! Help. My e92 335i has a slow leak. Leaked out (to point air con is warm) in 4 days, garage told me it needs new condenser. Now leaks out after 12 days.
Any downside to using the stp variant that claims to stop leaks? Not sure if that is what you used here
Thank you Sohail! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the leak. I had the same issue with my e90 and was told the same as you. I used the STP super seal and it worked great I never had a leak again. Give that a go buddy and let me know how you get on 👍
@@TheBimmerFixer I already had the condenser replaced. not cheap. I will try the super seal!
I am now reading stuff on the forums about the Schrader valves and the plastic caps being the casue, you ever seen that?
Hmmm can't say iv seen or heard of that personally but that's not to say it can't happen. Let's see what happens after the super seal. I think that will sort it 👍

@Ace Hello Ace! I have used it on more than one occasion mow at it worked really well. I would just recommend reading the directions fully to make sure you get the best results 👍🏻

@Mike Asefi If you push down on the dial on the centre console the move it to the right and select climate then you'll see the option to change the temperature to Hot, medium and cold. 👍🏻
Geezer - upon completion is it engine off THEN removal from LP port? or can first?

Nice video mate. I put my reg in on Halfords, e60 lci 535d, and it said this kit wasn't suitable for my car? Strange. Thanks for the video anyway mate. Is it much cooler now anyway?
Thanks mate 👍 Yeah mine did too but iv always used this kit on all my BMWs e46, e90 and e60 and didn't have an issue. Even the guy in the store said it would be fine. Strange 🤔. Yeah its ice cold now mate 🥶🥶🥶🤣🤣🤣
Hows the 535d?
The bottle contains other stuff that might not be compatible with your car. I think if you keep the bottle upright, only the refrigerant would get in the car while the other stuff would stay in the bottle. For the E46 and other similar generation BMW, the oil needed is PAG 46. The oil in the bottle may not be that.
@@TheBimmerFixer cheers mate, yeh its a great all rounder. Having egr, dpf and swirl flaps deleted in the next week or so then going for mapping at MAD Automotive. Already did the xhp stage 3 gearbox map also. Should be even more pokey then with some serious torque, but in all seriousness they're great standard too. Which model is yours?

Does it seal leaks well?
@Mr T yeah the sealer works great of course if you have a huge hole there might be a problem but the usual little cracks and small holes it works really well
How much gram of bottle required for the same model e60 I m in india so called here 525i bmw.
A i checked on the internet its shows like 800 - 820gram I've ordered one bottle of 450gram does it sufficient or do i need one more bottle please suggest..
@ Cigarette Wala Hi, You may need another bottle. I would try one like I did first and see if thats enough before buying another.

Hello mate, I would say you could probably get 2 depending on the size of the system in that particular car and if it wasn't completely empty. That said if you were only topping up a system and there wasn't any leaks you could definitely get more.

PROBLEM... Same Halfords kit but cylinder to trigger leaks badly so cylinder soon emptied to the ozone Another cylinder another trigger/gauge (same as you) and same leak at the top of pressure cylinder (o-ring both damaged on both trigger/gauges) maybe faulty batch from China? When disconnected tap cylinder valve to seat properly.

@@TheBimmerFixer Well Halfords staff were OK however I've got another car to do! So as I know the problem I will live with it now and quickly remove the trigger pipe from the full cylinder to save my gas and the planet after re-filling it. Thanks for reply.

How do find the low press connection
If it's not an e60 like mine or a BMW you can google your make and model and you should be able to find the low pressure connection on the car you have.

@@TheBimmerFixer Didn't fine much on Google, however I did open the hood to take a look. Found 2 rails with black caps on so guessing one of them is the low pressure rail. Also followed that down and when I touched the metal pipe leading UpTo the to it was freezing cold. AC was on 20min prior to the inspection so I am assuming this would be the low pressure connection?
@moyhaq Just had a thought, now you know the 2 pipes they should be different sizes the larger of the 2 pipes will be the lower pressure side. See if you can notice the difference between the 2 👍🏻
BTW where is the High pressure valve on these models?

Does it not show you a pressure check at the start on the nozzle with the valve ?
Cleanest version of a how to I have found .... Now I just need a bottle.. grabbed a plastic display bottle and the trigger ... The dude at the counter spoke to me in a way that I'm the 2999th person who went to buy a bottle but 'mate, we don't have any refrigeration gas' ... Then why the fuck is it on display? Lol do you have this trigger I'm holding? Yes mate... Then can I buy it? Lol drama

@@TheBimmerFixer got it while you we're busy replying! Advice required. I'm new to understand the troubleshooting of ac. I've a 2.0t A4 s line Quattro b8.5 (if any of that helps) ... Engine off, undo cap, attached the push fitting. Meter reads low .. attached the gas, and yes under the bonnet says r134a ... Engine on, blower @ 0/full power, AC on .... Only took 2 / 3 presses and it went slightly over half of full gauge ... Got excited, jumped in . Engine off, detached recapped. Went to check .. sweet fuck ALLL .. definitely not got stiff nipples .. mildly cooler, almost warm ) cool ish flows.. gave it a run home.. had to convince myself it was better. I got home, pulled up, checked guage / engine off. Just over half full, no gas fitted, released small presses till bang in half ... Checked, nothing ... What an I missing? The car came from Australia, imported, I bought it / registered it .. first chance to use ac.. what's the problem old wise one? Much appreciated
Interesting you've done everything right so should be working 🤔 are you recirculating the air in the cabin? That's the button with the arrows in a circle direction. This is very strange, short of the ac compressor failing im not sure what it could be but that said if the compressor was dead you wouldnt get any change in temp so I think the compressor would be fine. Could just need a little time to circulate around the system. I would run the engine with ac on full for another ten minutes and check the pressure again. Keep me posted 👍
@@TheBimmerFixer cheers, just had a quick look there. I seen a guy talking about the belt / clutch. Now, without winning a Darwin award and putting my hand down ... Nope ... by looking, it would appear that no question the belt is rotating and at the front of the pulley is turning.. I was advised in a video it shouldn't be turning unless you turn on the AC? ... Also you MUST turn on the recirculation or its just more effective?
@@TheBimmerFixer is it strange or odd I could refill it so quickly? I seen guys putting in entire containers coke can size.. mines the STP ez one, same as you I think.. but was it you who said 30 seconds? If I did that I'd have hit red.. I just 3 sec 3 sec etc... Only took less than a minute of work
