Great video, thanks. One more thing that could also affect the AC. The heater control valve, if it is not blocking the hot water from entering the cabin, you will not get that icy air.
I had gone on vacation and gave my e60 530i to my friend in the meantime. He messaged me saying something was wrong with the AC and it's not cooling despite making sure the mechanical stuff was fine. I knew he messed around with the iDrive and changed the AC setting. I let him sweat it out in the heat till I came back and set it back to the coldest setting. This was in Saudi Arabia during peak summer with 55c outside temperatures and even hotter inside a black car 😈
You can check with diagnose tool for pressure in system so you know if you do or do not have leaks. also measure resistance on compressor coil should be between 2-5 ohm. If you feed 12v directly to compressor you should here clicking noise.
Thanks for that! For years, I've been having to press the MAX button to get cool air and been completely mystified why setting the dials to a lower temperature didn't activate the air-con. Reading the manual, you wouldn't have a clue that setting the temperature in iDrive at any temperature above the lowest disables any temperature lower than the level set in the idrive. Finally, I am able to enjoy the climate control system as it's supposed to work. Staggeringly bizarre and ill-thought through on the part of BMW! I knew the air-con worked because I could use it on MAX and then turn down the volume, but so grateful I stumbled across your video and I no longer have to do that. Thank you.

Agree with you 100%. In my wife's Audi you set the temperature and taking ambient temperature and sunlight in account, the car makes the temp feel exactly what you set it to. Lowering or increasing of fan speed and direction is automatic. In my BMW, you set the temp but then you can set the fan speed as well. You can then set the temp again in the screen despite what is set on the dial.
