Nice video, spring steel of the right thickness is hard to find and expensive so this is a great way to go. A similar set of 3 knives from Acejet would cost over 200 pounds. lol
I submit that “wurk” ain’t necessarily a bad thing. Love is even more demanding, and that ain’t necessarily I bad thing either. Our culture treats both cheaply. And $$$ ain’t everything either. What a pleasure to watch, I submit. I think I’d much more want to meet and throw with somebody like this who can exercise this rare talent than a Bud who just pulled a purchase from Amazon! Most of us just don’t have the talent, skills, tools and money to do this, eh? Good work, my friend! Don Manos
Very nice! When quenching in the oil make sure you keep it moving, letting the bubbles form on it can actually create stress fractures. Very awesome, I’m going to forge some throwing knives soon and the video was great to watch
The whole thing is very professional and well done. Belt slander and grinder, barbeque grill etc. all very basic. My problem is I rent and my Landlord is a prick!
This is by far the simplest way to make a knife, instead of forging, just use a leaf spring or just buy a flat bar with the correct width and thickness then hardening and annealing
Great video and excellent work on making these nice throwing knives. Set looks amazing, it is time to open your own production Michael. wish to have all tools that you have to make them. How much would be a price for the set of 3 or 6 ?
If you struggle to find good steel or can't use this leaf spring method, flat pry bars are a cheap source of nice carbon steel you can use if you heat treat them the same way as this.
Dude you are a man of extrordinary talent what do you think it cost to make those 3 knives. $35,000???? You"re obviously an engineer or some type of highly skilled person. And the freehand drawing too on the knives. Now I may say architech!! Dont dare say you put groceries in bags at the market. You have NASA capabilities.
I’m really new to all this stuff and have no idea what any of these tools are so i was wondering if someone could tell me so i could search them up and get them
Yes you didnt show haw you cut the knives to shape? But you did a great job. What was the cooking oil for after the knives had already been red hot once?
The small little red wires hooked on to both sides what are they hooked to what are they connected to not the connection that goes to the battery charger but those small little wires in the back on both sides of the studs
AND REMEMBER ONLY THE TIP HAS TO BE SHARP ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OF IT ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OF IT ON EACH SIDE. THAT'S USUALLY THE MOST WILL GO IN FOR MOST THROWS OTHER THAN THAT IT COULD BE USED AS A SURVIVAL OR CAMPING TOOL DUAL PURPOSE . AND YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR THROWING KNIVES AT LEAST 9 MIN -15" INCHES GOOD TUTORIAL BY THE WAY
Hey, was sind das für Aufkleber, die Du zur Deko ausgeschnitten hast? Habe das noch nie so gesehen... und dann mit einem Batterieladegerät für Autos angeschlossen? Wie viel Salz kommt in etwa in den Eimer? Super cool gemacht!!! Sehr schöne Messer!!! Gruß Karl
Carbon in the steel grain is what hardens the steel. Carbon from outside the steel hardly penetrates a few microns. That process is called "case hardening" -- a whole different process.
I use veg oil personally on everything from blades to hammers to chisels, you name it!! Plus you get a much cleaner finish after quenching. The only thing he did “wrong” was not quenching with movement, you should quench and continue slight movements until the steak is around it below 800 degrees. You’ll know your there when you still have eyebrows after removing from oil lol
Regular charcoal works way better. A stronger fan would have helped too or directing that one down a tunnel. Then again your not forging the blades as much.
two questions: 1. what's the point of burning the knives and then putting them in oil? 2. When u put the knife in salted water are you electrifying them in water? I don't understand why electrifying them can cause the paper design to be burnt onto the knives..
1. Its called quenching. To harden the blade. 2. Its electrolysis. Basically the exposed surface of the steel dissolves in the saltwater and leaves etching marks on the knife.
Charcoal is not an effective fuel, not cheap, just for UA-cam Dream Team Video SquarePants to play Blacksmith on weekends. In grinding belts and wheels, fuel electric power and sandpaper, you just could buy tool steel . You are wasting resources consulting with a real Blacksmith first saving time. Why shape throwing knives like steak knives Thumbs down because of contents bad practices
A to Z, very informative, thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Wow the attention to detail is immaculate! And your designs are chef kiss

I really like the target board you made.

Simple but yet very professional!
Salute!
Woww looks so easy that im sure everyone can make it at home!
With some dedication, yeah.
Good thing I brought my travel forge with me on the road

Back and forth not in fast circles or up and down?
Interesting idea to make multiple knives in less time .... like it
Dope AF knives, @MichaelPaleyAU! Now you've got to stitch up a nice case to go with them (if you've not done so already!)
The whole thing is very professional and well done. Belt slander and grinder, barbeque grill etc. all very basic.

I knew that's why God told me to keep my battery charger for my car thank you for teaching that
Nice , Good work. 👏👏
Awesome, simply AWESOME!
Thank you!
Really but try to make one youd sell for $20 free shipping. Id never sell those knives
Very good job. You show many things
Those are extra nice!

Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed how the tools you used aren't huge & specialized. Also good rotational throwing. Keep it up bromigo.
Thank you!
Very Nice Work, thanks for sharing

Great shaping jig.

Looks Great!
A true Artisan thankyou Sir for sharing your craft.
Muito bem explicado..... obrigado
Good job mate 👍
Artist! Respect!
Thanks,,What length ?
Great work!
Very good knives brother..
You're good thrower too👍
Thank a lot buddy!
How did you tackle the balancing issue?
Very cool
Lots of extra work when you could just buy bars and shape those from known steel. Save a ton of time and money that way for throwing knives for sure
He is making them out of a spring, and most likely is spring steel... a very good steel for making knifes, or so i hear...
how long this target hold?

😂 as fun as it was to watch this video your comment kills me. $35,000, engineer, nasa 😂 me and classmates did this in highschool shop class
6 knives actually.
great knifes

Yes you didnt show haw you cut the knives to shape? But you did a great job. What was the cooking oil for after the knives had already been red hot once?
It's a process that's used to harden the steel ;)
How long are the strips? I hate music videos on how to do stuff
The small little red wires hooked on to both sides what are they hooked to what are they connected to not the connection that goes to the battery charger but those small little wires in the back on both sides of the studs
- to the studs, + to the knife
Use a hot air gun and a length of pipe on your forge to increase temperature 😊
What kind of machine did you use to make the blade for the knife
Angle grinder

Ich habe das Muster selbst gezeichnet und auf Klebepapier gedruckt, ähnlich wie bei Aufklebern. Zweihundert Gramm pro Eimer reichen aus
@@MichaelPaleyAU super, vielen Dank. Muss ich Mal ausprobieren. Sieht sehr schön aus.
Never seen anyone use vegetable oil. Thought the carbon in "used motor oil" is what is needed to harden

Heres the $50,000 question How long did it take?
Everybody used to:Fighting,Bullied ppl, War, defend, Throwing
Me:Chopping tomato
Thanks, Michael superb...What length ?
Thanks, Les! Length - 250mm. Weight - 203-212gms
ну если на продажу то можно заморочится а если для себя и метать постоянно время просто зря потратишь

280C

What did you brush on the knife just before etching in salt solution? Oil?
