    Awesome thank you. Because I sure as hell can't afford the bullshit $280 to get a set from any of the companies selling competition grade knives. The ones all of these Professional Throwers *only* recommend.

    Great job, especially with the tools used! I watch this and I appreciate the hard work and the craftsmanship that goes into making them, and at the same time I thank the lord that I'm finally blessed to have a 2x72 grinder and propane forge. While there is certainly a romantic quality to doing all the work by hand like you have done here, in my daily work, I am certainly glad to have the quicker, easier methods nowdays. lol

      Many, many reasons why. Many less expensive knives are SS which is less than ideal for a throwing knife. Shock resistant carbon steels (S5, S7 or L6) are expensive. Spook identified his metal as "spring steel" which really doesn't tell us anything because of the number of spring steel alloys available with a differences in prices. Most spring steels don't get hard enough for a knife or they get too hard for a knife. A lot of nuance here. Look up recommended Rockwell C hardness for different knife metals different knife uses. Many of those high dollar knives are 3/8ths to 1/2" thick, long and heavy for a reason.

    Not talking is fine and I really loved the silent humor but I really wish you'd at least write on screen some info, like grit used, file type, product name, etc. I still really love the video and I'm very grateful for the PDF regardless.

    Great great job. I’m in the process right now as I type this comment building some Tom Tom arrows and Apache style throwers. Making them exactly the way you did here. Fantastic job my friend. What is the black finish you used ? 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @spookleech
      @spookleech  2 роки тому +1

      I'm glad to hear that my friend! The finish is a chemical that etches the surface. Sorry, don't know exactly how it's called in English. Linked the remedy in the description.🍻

      @@spookleech I'm responding to a year old post but what you used here in the states is called Cold Blue. (avail from Amazon or any hunting\sporting\gun shop) It's called cold because unlike the other traditional bluing processes it does not require any of the various heating methods of the other bluing processes. It is not as durable as the "hot" methods. FYI, Cold blue does not work on stainless and can be removed from other ferrous metals with steel wool. Not that it matters much but bluing is not an etching process. It's an iron oxide coating that prevents rust and corrosion. Etching will actually "cut" in to the metal.
