Regarding the length of your videos, I always find inspiration and tips while watching the entire process, even if they aren't "slick ". So if you don't get the video editing software figured out, please keep on putting them out like you have...anyone who can't take an hour or so to get the great teaching you provide probably shouldn't be watching in the first place!

A pro tip for people new to templates: You can avoid cracking templates by simply using a silver pen and marking the position of the holes. Strike them first, place the template back over the hole positions then make your cuts. If you're iffy on using black Tyvek along the backsides of the card slots, there are clear plastic roper kit sleeves available at leather shops. Additionally, to create uniform bonds in your leather it is better to 'rough' your edges before applying the glue. This will prevent any kind of separation if the product comes into contact with water or sweat. Even though I personally disdain using a leather gouge, if you decide to do it, make your gouge marks at the very beginning when you make your sectional cuts. That will save you the heartbreak if you flub the gouges later. Additionally, it will allow you to dye the gouge lines giving the product a more uniform appearance. Happy crafting everyone!

@@makersleathersupply1220 one of things I never liked about the Tandy/Ivan ones was that tiny, almost invisible, flecks of metal would come off them, and when using them on natural veg tan, the metal particles would react with the leather and you'd end up with little blue spots showing up. I'm sure your toolmaker uses better quality material!

I got the 9 card template from Tandy under the Pro line. I have about 5 other of Aaron's templates. My main issue with this trifold set is even using the suggested weight leathers, I had to add an inch to the outer back and 5/8" to the divider piece to allow it to close at all with a couple bills in the currency pocket. The differing heights of the back and divider are good in design but I found to be a bit impractical allowing the top edge of the back to wear quickly. In all, I've been very happy with the Maker's templates but this one needed a bit of modification to suit my needs.

It's a good pattern, except I never personally cared for making (or using) wallets where the card slots just have a glued fabric divider. I'd rather make a slightly thicker wallet with each pocket it's own sewn layer, it would be nice to see a variation. Also a variation with rounded corners would be slick.

I don't round template corners often because it's easier to cut them square and then round them at once after assembly. Also, I've offered many folks the challenge with the tape and tyvek design... if you use the right materials and one of them fails, I'll buy that wallet and replace it too.

Aaron, finished up my Roper Wallet using the Makers Template, and it turned out fantastic. Do you or have you considered making a template for a I-Phone case with magnetic folding snap. It has credit cards on 1 side, maybe 4 slots, and a i_phone rubber boot is glued to a piece on the other side with a cash pocket underneath. I made a paper template and made one but it sure would nice to save the time cutting with a template, and it would be an item in high demand. I can send you a pic to your e-mail if you want to get an idea of what I am talking about. Let me know.

    But your videos need work.
I watch on a small tablet or on my phone.
Your camera is too far away and at too steep an angle to see what you're doing clearly.
If you could mount the camera above you looking down and turned around so we are seeing at the same angle as you then that would be a lot better.
Also. Now that Tandy is selling these templates the need for a good edited video is even more important because so many more people are going to need these videos.
So ether please learn to edit. Or hire someone.
