    As always beautiful work. I am almost but not quite disappointed. Clicker press work now. I started watching because each piece was hand made. However I know that your skill is better served finishing more work for us to enjoy and not grunt working.

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 роки тому +1

      Oh trust me ….. 95% is cut by hand. And, the rule is “10,000 hours”. Remember. Once you hit 10,000 hours, you’re considered to have mastered a task. I’ve done that. My hand cut is literally indistinguishable from clicker. Therefore, it’s identical. And being booked into 2023 (1+ years), I need to start helping my clients out

    • @swyftty2
      @swyftty2 2 роки тому +1

      @@MasconLeather I see and know and appreciate your level of skill. Perhaps I am only really disappointed in that it is less content for me to see. I don't currently own any of your work so I have no point of comparison. Nor do I think that a click press makes your work less refined just like the bell skiver. I want to be in leather craft one day, as I have too much time. What work I am locked into is at home taking care of a sick and less able wife. I enjoy your content as I feel I might be able to learn something from it. I do feel that your step into power equipment is one that will let the leather enthusiast community enjoy more of your work, while hopefully letting you have more family time as well. Keep on and thank you for great content.

    First off, I love your videos. The craftsmanship and humor are perfect. Since you are using 1mm thread, are you using 5mm or 6mm stitching chisels?

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  2 роки тому

      Thanks!! Usually 5mm. I do 6 on looooong stitch runs like hems and straps.
      If you watch my hand stitching video, I explain it all more in-depth

    Ah, another Mascon fix for my addiction. This one is a bit harder than you let on, a lot of stitching and skiving. Also, do you remember what the. roundabout cost was for the skiving machine? I clicked on the link but there is no cost anywhere on the site. Appreciate your work. Cheers!😁

      The cost for the 8 ton clicker? Maybe $3,000 - $3,500? The 4 ton clicker is perfectly ok, to be honest. Call weaver and ask. Tell them I sent you. 👍

    Don't know how to start this except I am shifting from building custom homes since I was 16, built my own carpentry business 4 yrs ago and doing alright, but now at 40 and 2 kids and twins on the way I decided I'm tired of working so darn hard! Hands hurt along with everything else lmao, wife is a bad ass artist, tatto artist, and makes jewelry, were both self employed! Al that being said I fucking spent a bunch of cash investing into being a lether worker like yourself, ordered alot of leather sides from Montana leather, a bunch of tools, man I'm in it! Then discovered your channel and laughed because seems were alot alike but different if that makes since! Blah blah blah anyway I guess what I'm getting to is I love the craftsmanship of your work and has ne even more pumped to build peices! Building a small work space and just waiting on leather to make it all the way to the big island of Hawaii! Any advice you could give an inspired, motivated man on starting up this building of a business?? Suggestions, any kind of helpful tips, shit you did wrong at the start that maybe I shouldn't do? Lol! I did buy your bump jigs the other night so just that alone should have me at pro status already right? 🤣 anyway Aloha from Hawaii
    Hope to here back from ya.

      @@MasconLeather any suggestions? Things you may have done differently from the start? I got really good at being carpenter by fucking shit up at a young age lmao! But if I could avoid some big mistakes from the star that would be great. BTW I can find horween leather for sale in all the beautiful colors you have! Where the hell do I get them? I ended up using Montana leather and they only had 1 color of horween.

    Awesome video i anna try someting like this... i went and got most of the tools today, i didnt get a groover cuz all the wallet videos i have seen lately are just using the winger then punchin the stitch holes. My question is the guy at tandy leather said i would want to use a groover? do i need to? and my 2nd question is do you have a trick for the placement of your stitch holes on corners and what Seam allowance (totally dont know if that term is used in this but i sew so yea lol) is used for ur stitch line ive seen some say 1/8th and some say 1/4th? thanks for any info :)
