Great video again, Tony! Do you have one, or will you make one, about "getting hit"? How to handle taking punches, how to get used to taking shots, and what a boxer needs to do if he is hurt? Thanks!!!
#2 Was a combination that Mike Tyson often used in the peek-a-boo style. He was very short and his arms were short as well. That first step (after the lead jab) had to land outside of the opponent's foot so that the hooks to the body would land beautifully. Pay attention to your footwork folks!
I love how he actually explains what the punches are supposed to actually do, make your opponent raise / lower his hands, etc. Helps alot with the mental breakdown of the combination as a whole
Honestly I just joined a boxing gym at my local. I feel this whole community is just so helpful to one another! Videos are great will practice them on the bag this weekend.
I love the jab slip liver shot. I have alot of success with that combo. And as you said doubling up getting the guard to lower to come over the top is gold. Great video!
On the side of my Karate training, I've been practicing boxing at a local gym for nearly 2 years now, but this mans endless combos, knowledge and copious details on every technique he presents is valuable and made me better and better as a striker, but being mindful on why and how to do each strikes. I've subscribed and can't wait for the next video episode. Thanks a million Mr. Jeffries.
@YūGen Indeed it is a solid mix. Boxing helps you being mindful of your targets and a building blocks of creating endless combinations with your fist because at some point, you can't rely on your legs for kicks and thats when the hands comes in play.
That second combo is golden. I practice it really often (when I do train lol) and making it muscle memory has improved my overall slipping and countering drastically. Before I didn't have the timing down as well I wanted, but having a simple combo to use shadowboxing or with a heavy bag was so key. Appreciate the vids, bro!
@@dosomestuff1949 Honestly shadowboxing did it just fine for me. Mitts with a trainer would prob be best, tho. Just make sure not to overshoot or undershoot the slip, that's the hardest part. If you don't have anyone to assist with mitts, tie a string or rope from two points at your head height and use that as a reference point to practice slipping. It's a really natural combo, just get your reps in.
This is where you went! I recently read about you moving to the US and opening a gym, but just realised you’re doing these. Followed your career back in the day!

Great video my man. I know you're focusing on combos, but it's also good to practice a jab too. Spence Jr has absolutely punished opponents with his jab alone, and having that strong base of a good jab can ripple into the rest of your combo.

Hi Tony, I have just discovered your channel. Great, great content. I can't wait to watch all the other videos and start using them during my amateur training sessions. All the best to You!
Joined my college's boxing club, and man is it so much fun. I love watching the sparring matches and trying to frankenstein a usable combo for my own style. (So far I think I'm more infighting, as my range isn't amazing.) My favorite basic one is jab, and body shot step back.
Recently subbed, this is the second video I've watched. Looking good so far. I incorporated the beginning punches video into my workout and will use this for the combos to use with the basic punches. Cheers mate and thanks!
Another great video for fighters, thanks Tony. I might start using that jab, slip bang bang. I usually skip the jab part but I can see the value in adding it. My favourite combo is actually really simple. It's just a long left jab (through the feet) that taps their glove out of the way on the way through. Once that connects (eight times out of ten it does) you can now flow into a flurry of punches depending on where they go from there. The beauty of this simple deflecting jab is they usually lose sight and a bit of structure which presents you with an easier follow up set of targets.
Thanks Tony, I just got home from sparing I successfully landed the second variation of the first combo. It was great to watch old mate react to the set up! I'm fairly new to the sport, I'm fairly aggressive in my style and like to keep an awkward distance to hold the pressure on my opponent. I'm finding I am getting caught out throwing to many punches then countered when I'm on the attack. When I have an apponent backed up on the rope can you suggest some combos that will let me open up some attacks with escapes? Thanks from Australia, Craig.
Well i am a street fighter (forced to self defence). For me the 1,2,1,1and then 2 to the belly is the best. Then just indiscriminately beat him when he is cathing the breath. Or 1,1,2,then left hook(3) to the liver. Believe me,if you hit the liver, you will feel tension that he might die(i knocked one dude,i wsnt happy at all, i was afraid that i have done something bad). And after the combo, its better to run as fast as possible. The others may have knife or sticks
@@user-ci5cc5mc5l use weapons,or run, thats the best for me. Ussually they dont come in groups at first so if you are good at boxing, try to knock one out, others will either try to take care of his friend,or jump at you. Then aim their groins or solar plexus. I love what you've showed us. I would really like to see more variations off your first combo. Your basic right body left body is fantastic. One of my absolutes. But with that right you slip the jab if done properly. The left (for me would be a hook while stepping to the right. I would then send a straight to the lower rib then shuffle left with a slight head tilt and send my head left hook. Do you agree? I would love to hear your input

Still I gotta purchase those weights! Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing more of your coaching videos. And Great job sir!
Tony, I really like the fast jab- slip- body- head, going to practice that. One issue I notice I've been having in my bag work is that my arm/elbow consistently looks low on the hooks (both lead and power hand). Any recommendations for throwing better hooks?
the most natural movement: The job by the leading hand, the straight or cross by the other hand; and the cross or upper cut by the leading hand. These are 123 combinations or the left Job, followed by the right cross/straight. and then followed by the left cross or upper cut.
thank you!!! this is actually amazing, i've been working on basic combos such as 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, but this will elevate my combos, defense, and get my legs and head moving more. i find that difficult on the heavy bag, since i feel uncoordinated and no one is actually punching back at me

Those are great, i love the next one: Jab, back, jab to the body, back, jab, straight right, jab, uppercut. Also the left hook followed by the right uppercut Finally, the changed stands really help me to move into my oponent for an agressive combo if I sense he is stepping back with my punches. I jab with my strong hand and leave my weak hand in the back so thet I can use his backing off as an opportunity to get my left in front again with a straight punch followed by a jab in the same hand and keep up the jabs with that hand to finish finish the attack with a strong overhand. Doesnt make too much sense written, but shown or performed it really does
Great, realistic stuff, Tony. As a natural southpaw who boxes right handed, the 1-2-1 is a favorite of mine. That second left comes out with some power.

This is pure gold
And the way he teaches and gets info across is really excellent.
I see a British flag . Is this gentleman a British subject. His name seems British.
Regardless, he has made a lot of people very happy with his work
I remember you boxing in the Beijing Olympics, Tony and turning pro. You were a Damon good fighter. I read about your move to the states a few years ago; I’m Boxing News I think. I glad you’re putting these videos up. I wish you all the success. I’d like to request a video on head movement and head movement drills, Tony please. Looking forward to watching more of your content 👍🏾
That is a nasty left hook too the body brother....utter venom, brilliant!
Those are great, i love the next one:
Jab, back, jab to the body, back, jab, straight right, jab, uppercut.
Also the left hook followed by the right uppercut
Finally, the changed stands really help me to move into my oponent for an agressive combo if I sense he is stepping back with my punches.
My left hook to the body has become very powerful by watching your videos and practice, practice, practice.
