I was born and raised behind the Iron Curtain, and I can assure that anyone who hasn't lived in a totalitarian/police State, doesn't have, and can't have a clue about how it operates. I recall seeing lots of construction equipment, many trucks arriving loaded with materials, hundreds or thousands of people being moved, and we all knew that it was because someone important was coming to town. The front of houses being painted, just the front, streets cleaned, stores stocked up, old cars moved away, a wall going up here and there to block the view of certain areas that looked rundown, plants and flowers planted, lawn brought in, workers wearing new uniforms, and so much more. Believe it or not, after the caravan of the leader, or leaders passed by, everything that could be taken back, was taken, including the flags people were given to people to wave at the dignitaries, the uniforms had to be returned as well, it was all a charade. A dictator has powers unknown to free peoples.

@@Polina-zo5lk, the point is not wether the state is weak or not, it's about what they can do. In a free society you can't go and make people go to a parade they don't want to go, and, or chant long life for some one who they wish gone. A dictator has the power to do as he wishes, it could be the other way around, they can march people through a killing field to send a message to the populace. Again, those who didn't experience it, will never know the terror those governments can spread out, and how much control they have, which is a good thing, it's great not to have been in such places.

There was a time in the 90s when there were a lot of orphanages in Russia. We had many US citizens come to adopt a child from Russian or former Soviet countries. It was considered a lucky case for a child to be adopted by some American or European family. The adoption agency and both the child services in Russia closely followed the cases to monitor how story would develop for such cases. Most of the children’s stories turned out to be very positive.
Now days the world has gone so crazy, with all the news laws it’s literally impossible for child services in Russia to allow a child to be adopted to USA, where he will be highly likely introduced to all kinds of moral derivations.

Little does he realize that it is our environment that creates such behavior. Competitive environments are responsible for the vast majority of anti-social behaviors. And the richer and more powerful you are? The worse the abhorrent behaviors become as well. As Dr Brown once famously stated, "If I were not studying psychopaths in the state penitentiary? I'd be studying them on Wall st."
I will add that the reason S Korea is sliding down hill (like Japan and many other 'Americanized' cultures) is in decline, is because of the adoption of the invalid ideologies embedded in american culture. The western cultures have forgotten that the word society literally translates from Latin as a Social Enterprise, not an economic one, not a group of 'Individuals" out to get rich. Which is the only guiding light in most western cultures today. From school everyone is taught to "Be Successful", Instead of being good people......

To all the people praising Lex and his intro, there is a huge problem. He said he is willing to talk to anyone who is genuine. Tucker Carlson knowingly promotes falsehoods. He is a propagandist/opportunist who will say/promote anything for money. I completely support debate and hearing both sides of any issue, but I do not support letting a charlatan spew his nonsense under the guise of being a journalist in search of the truth. The fact that so many people cannot see this is also the reason that Trump exists.

When comparing this interview to Rogan's a couple of days ago, the difference in interviewing ability is quite apparent. Many of Lex's questions are hyper-fixated on current events, topics that will be irrelevant in a few months to a few years at most. Many of the questions are also quite boyish and juvenile, such as "Which spy agency is the best?", which is akin to asking which anime protagonist would beat the other. In contrast, Joe is very good at getting his guests comfortable and talking about deeper truths. Also, Lex's obsessions with technocracy is the height of naivety, as it reflects a similar utopianism to communists that will ultimately result in enslavement and mass death. Here's hoping that as Lex gets older and interviews more people, he'll be able to mature intellectually and professionally a bit more.

I have 3 kids 2 dad's, my sister has 6 with 3 dad's. My oldest has a sister . Who is also my other 2 kids sister..
None were ever referred to as step, half, ... Not.
This is our tribe.. period. And I always corrected others that described as steps or half's. Unnecessary division. Even X's were still invited at Grammys table, holiday or not, they all show up for "tea" or offering assistance.
All our kids just Flowed , I was in the hospital having my 3rd child and my Xs family took care of my daughter and her sister, like they are all blood too. So my kids had 3 grandmother's, 3 Granddads, innumerable aunt's uncles cousins. That separately would have been small families. Would have just been my sister and me with 9 kids. And my brother.
The labels should go. Stigma should be forgotten.

As a Korean American I always tied the suicide in Korea to the idea that self deletion is just part of north eastern ideology. We are a logical people to a fault sometimes. If times are though or even just in your head just end it is the thought. We die anyway. It’s a very nihilistic view point. Koreans and Japanese have always been known for this. We also have the Han. On top of all of this, the pressure we out on ourselves to achieve perfection is higher than most cultures can understand. That is a combination for self deletion.

Gonzalo Lira was a US citizen, yes. But he was a resident of Ukraine and during the Russian invasion he publicly spread misinformation such as denying the Russian massacre in Bucha and disseminated sensitive information about Ukrainian soldiers and journalists. Despite his US citizenship he was subject to Ukrainian law while he was living there.
His death while incarcerated is certainly sketchy and it seems quite likely that he was horribly mistreated by the Ukrainian government... but he was openly supportive of the invasion of the country he was living in. Why jump to the "US conspiracy theory" argument when the simpler argument of "He pissed off the local Ukrainians" is sufficient?

youtube has extensive censureship. Wait a minute, edit your comment to say put a period on it and see if you get the error of autodeletion. It can just be Biden or Trump and some other word that you would never think would set them off. Have to divide in parts. First post. Then sentence. Then find alternatives for the word, can't be synonyms though.

Putin had a narrative he wanted to stick to. No amount of prodding will change that, he’s never going to be completely honest or candid. But hearing and seeing him deliver his narrative in itself is of interest. Reading between the lines of the original interview makes it a lot more interesting than if you watched it hoping Putin would get coaxed into revealing some big secret.

@@AdrianTether I'm afraid, as European, many Americans have no clue of the history of Russia (including Ukraine). I noticed many Americans, and espc. the politic elite, think about Russia as the USSR.
Russia won all the wars in the end, whether be from Dzjengis Khan. Suleiman, Napoleon, Bismarck, Kaiser Wilhelm, Hitler and the USA.
And when we talk about Russia here in Europe, we also mean Ukraine, because these two belong to each other. Everyone in Russia has some family connection with Ukraine and back. Even Navalny is from Ukraine origin but was a ultra Russian extreme rightwing nationalist.
