    Great to see you back out there, Jiffy. A very moving film and jarred some thoughts of friends and family that are no longer here. Glad to see you in the ‘Soulo killer’ aka Nallo 2. Far more space for the same weight, with a more useable vestibule and more than strong enough - can also be double poled of course. It’s the one to have if you’re not bothered about the free standing aspect of the Soulo.

      @WildCampingWelshman  6 місяців тому

      Thank you. Loads of space in the Nallo and a much bigger vestibule than the Soulo. I’ve seen some films with strong winds (including Hilleberg’s film) hitting it and no problems at all. I had some fairly strong gusts in the night and had no issues at all. Best wishes, Jiffy 👍

    I will be following your excellent example of securing a pillow to the mattress from now on.
    There is an aluminum windscreen that surrounds the stove that is missing. I love that circle of blue flame surrounded by the red hot stove.
    Idahoan (Idaho is between Washington & Montana in the Northwest part of America) Mashed Potatoes - when I'm blindfolded, I'm unable to determine any difference in taste from real mashed potatoes.
    V-e-r-y touching tribute to your two friends.
    Warm Regards from far away Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

      Thank you. The stove didn’t come with a wind shield, just a reflective base. The Nallo’s door can be configured to form a wind shield though so I didn’t need one on this camp. Those Mashed potatoes are spot on. Regards from Wales 👍

    Good to see you back Jiffy. Also good to watch a tent being properly pitched as opposed to the speeded up Benny Hill ones which seem to be popular.

    Just stunning Jiffy mate. And very touching, the story of the personal significance of the area. Beautifully filmed. Heads up on the mash much appreciated - I'm fussy with mash!
    How are you getting on with that topsy-turvy inside out Paramo system? I must admit, I'm intrigued! The smock really looks the business. Not cheap though eh?

    • @WildCampingWelshman
      @WildCampingWelshman  6 місяців тому +1

      Cheers Rich. You obviously watched the whole film and not just those lads
      going nuts! 😂.
      It works very well mate. Very much like my old Army “softie jacket”. Not cheap but easier to implement and works better than having to remove and then layer up. Highly recommended. I’ve worn Paramo for years in the colder months but not tried the reverse psychology of an over jacket. It definitely works. It doesn’t pack down as much as a down jacket but I don’t have any worries of it not working if it gets wet. I actually packed it in the stretch pouch on the front of my pack as an “easy grab”. It worked a treat 👍🏻.
      My gloves, on the other hand (excuse the pun) were not up to the task (montane prism). I should have brought mittens instead so that they would have been easier to slip on and off AND much warmer.
      The cooker was fantastic, Soto Stormbreaker. Runs on petrol and doesn’t use much fuel at all. It’ll save me a fortune in gas canisters.
      Great to hear from you Rich and thank you for your comment.
      Best wishes 👍🏻

      @@WildCampingWelshman No, thank you for a top (and substantial) midweek wilderness watch Jiffy. And I agree on the Montane Prisms - they've let me down before now too, in similar temps in The Black Mountains.
      Other than that, it's great to see you so 'dialled in' with your kit sir! And out enjoying your homeland.
      Take care mate. Rich. 👍🏻

      I regularly get emails offering free stuff (never bloody Hilleberg though 🙄) but don’t want to be pressured into having to sound positive if the stuff lets you down.

      I’m pretty sure that the spot behind me was a pitch from the night or two before and I didn’t want to sleep in a “hot” bed.
      No need to clear the snow, only the pegging spots. Plus it keeps the groundsheet cleaner 👍🏻
