@@teckreactionsEvgeny is all you need to type in.
He also sings in Russian and English. I think this particular song is an Anti-War song about Russia-Ukraine.
“We are the same blood, we share the same home”. Says he won’t fight so his tongue became iron, meaning he would use his words to fight back.
So yeah. He is Russian but he had to leave in 2022 after he released 1984 which is a very straight forward anti-war song. That’s a very dangerous thing to do in Russia. Apparently his band manager or label is based in Ukraine so he was very against the war.
Now he lives in Florida and has guns and does Florida man shit.

@@teckreactionsas for the dying warthog sound, he says in Russian you roll your R’s a lot more than (obviously) English. So I’m guessing he’s tongue rolling but I have no idea how he can produce a low sound and roll his tongue at the same time.
He has a ton of stuff you should check out. They aren’t satanists or anything. It’s just super heavy metal.

The majority of the band are from Russia (1 guitarist is British). Alex switches between Russian & English in the songs. If you really want to get blown away by Alex’s abilities, look up him screamijg without a microphone …. "To The Hellfire" by Lorna Shore please!!!! Lorna Shore is a rabbit hole band more so than Slaughter to Prevail in my personal opinion but I am more keen to black metal sounds than death metal.

The scars on his face are part of a body mod culture called Scarification. It's more extreme than tattoos and basically very permanent (unless you get a skin graft or something) and I wouldn't recommend googling it if you're squeamish. Also, that one handed snare roll he does is common in extreme metal and they're called gravity blasts. It has roots in marching band, believe.

I've been A drummer for 17 years on and off. I've been in 5 different bands. 2 worship, 1 acustic trio, and 2 metalcore bands. I have been to countless concerts and metal shows and fests. Have met many famous metal bands. I can also do low growls. It isn't demonic like religous crazy people think it is. (I am A christian btw). Its a sound anyone can make. Simply bark in a low tone. And now hold it. Do it with your stomach as the pressure, not your throat. You need to know how to breath and breath well. A lot of technique can go into different kinds of screaming/growling. And before you ask, no it does not destroy your throat...if you do it right. Several lead vocalists can both scream and clean sing and they sound amazing.
As far as guitars and base and all that, they use pedal boards, people who just start out in metal don't understand that you need pedals and pedal boards for many kinds of music. Also bass players will use pics believe it or not in metal. Distorition is the biggest thing when it comes to guitars in metal music, esp "Core" genres. Metalcore/deathcore/hardcore. If you've never been to a show, a reccomend going to a huge metal show where big bands are playing. My favorite band for example is August burns red. Seen them 6-7 times. Spectacle.
I usually mosh though. In this music video you can also see a "wall of death" where the crowd runs at eachother...yeah i've been in 6-7 of those irl. Is it scary? of course it is. Moshing in geneneral is both fun and scary. I've had a tooth chipped, been elbowed in the face, backhanded to the nose, roundhouse kicked (all accidents keep in mind) and even gotten a concussion (still dont know how). But i'm going to keep doing it as long as i feel up to it at shows. (Circle pits are not for me though, thats just legit cardio with moshing on the side lol). Also crowd surfing happens a lot...and it is NOT like the movies AT ALL. I stopped crowd surfing in 2014, got dropped on my neck one too many times. Its fun...depending on the crowd and NEVER EVER try to crowd surf behind the mosh pit...youll just get dropped into it, granted everyone will try to pick you up..but still.
Wall of death though can be amazing but can also have a domino effect. i've held back like 20 people at once from trampling a dude after the wall of death. Moshing is all about brotherly love though and if there is even a hint at an actual fight that guy that started it is prob getting thrown out.
There is also a missing element with most tracks from youtube depending on the band and songs and your sound settings. The reason being is because a lot of these tracks on youtube dont have the added 808 layering that is in the tracks. (808 is a base drops you may hear from heavy rap coming from someones sublifier in a car for example) at metal shows they have audio monitors just for the 808s and it feels like its going through your chest when the breakdown hits it adds so much to it. You can hear it if you have the right base settings or headphones from studio recorded tracks depending on the bands. Usually its a pre recorded thing, but some bands (rarely though) will have a sound pad..sometimes multiple pads. It is also easier (imo) to do lows (growling), mids are not too hard, highs are where it starts to get rough, just depends on practice. And believe it or not stuff like this ...I can actually fall asleep to. I'm not kidding, almost fell asleep at A local metal show once..not cuz the band was boring it's just cuz you get so use to it it doesn't wake you up lol. Of course at shows this gives me pure adrelene and what not and makes me get into an epic mood and stuff thats why moshing exsists haha.
As far as Alex (lead voclist who you need to look up ..dude is a current day viking and wrestles bears...im...im not joking..actual brown bear..look up his instagram Alextheterrible)
doing the crazy gutterrole at the begging ...that is honestly next level. Ive heard more metal than can account for in my life..and it is just bizarr how he can do something like. But hey a lot of people can do amazing things. He is a teddy bear and you should honestly look up his interviews cuz dude is just so caring and kind. One show he did apparently a lady had a siezure during the show..Alex straight up stopped the entire show, just to make sure she was helped and taken care of before they continued.
This band is also from Russia. Most of them recently all moved to Florida because of the war over there.
Please do not ever judge A book by its cover yall. A person is bad if they are bad. Never assume, never judge. Seen it one too many times..by none other than other christians.
In reality Jesus would probably be moshing with everyone there too.

Wall of death though can be amazing but can also have a domino effect. i've held back like 20 people at once from trampling a dude after the wall of death. Moshing is all about brotherly love though and if there is even a hint at an actual fight that guy that started is is prob getting thrown out.
Please do not ever judge A book by its cover yall. A person is bad if they are bad. Never assume, never judge. Seen it one too many times..by none other than other christians.
In reality Jesus would probably be moshing with everyone there too.

The non English parts are in Russian (he's from Russia. So, a VERY distant descendant from Scandinavian language).
Also, the show Vikings is one of the most historically INACCURATE shows ever created. Ignore anything it shows or says.
The song actually has a positive message...
"Do you understand that we're of the same blood?
You notice that I am from the same flesh?
Do you understand that we have the same home?
You notice that we sow discord, we sow death?"
Alex is actually one of the nicest guys.
The scars on his face were done on purpose, by himself.
And your eyes getting as big as dinner plates was the reaction I was looking for. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as his voice... Most of the time, his notes are not going that low. Adding the growl behind it gives it a second octave lower tone, and that's why it sounds lower. He also incorporates slight throat singing as well. As for the growl near the beginning, same general concept, but he add his uvula to give it that purr. There are "Vocal Folds" and "False Vocal Folds" (where the growl comes from). Employing the false ones while the regular wones are going ads a natural second tone that's an octave lower.
The throat singing (which opens the throat) is where he gets his volume.
The following is 2 licensed vocal coaches (one Opera, one Rock), going into detail on how it all works...

Alex Terrible cut his face (with a piece of glass, I think) because he thought the scar would look cool. I wouldn't say he is the embodiment of toxic masculinity, but, you know, kind of close.
Also, the song is in Russian. So it might be hard to understand regardless of the screaming. In general, the more of the genre you listen to, the easier it is. Add on to that hearing a song a few times and reading the lyrics, and then it becomes pretty clear (at least for any given song. If you know the language, of course). That said, the vocal techniques really are meant to be experienced as another instrument. Depending on the band and their style the lyrics may matter more or less, but how they choose to inflect and vocalize cretaes depth and meaning. In the contemporary deathcore scene I think Will Ramos does this better than Alex Terrible, simply because he has a much wider range (at least, that we have seen so far from Terrible.... but Terrible does seem to be expanding a little. He just released his cover of Lorna Shore's Pain Remains 1: Dancing Like Flames, and his sound isn't as dynamic and emotional as Ramos's sound is, but especially in the very last few lines you was able to add some color that I haven't heard form the other stuff he has put out).
For more Slaughter to Prevail, I would say check out 1984. Folks are going to say Conflict, that is their newest release, but I'm not a huge fan, it feels more gimmick than substance. Demolisher and Baba Yaga are two of their early singles that really caused them to blow up, also great to check out.
