Evgeny Novikov can do "regular" blast beats with both left or right hand... what You are referring to (from the Viking video) is just another technique called "gravity blast"... it's just a question of what sound is he going for, as gravity blast has a bit different sound compared to "regular" blast beat, due to hitting the rim of the snare...

I think for this song he opted not to use the gravity blast because the bpm is a little lower and he can play single strokes efficiently, so might as well have the power behind a full stroke. Sounds a lot fuller for hammer blast sections like those.

Black and yellow REPRESENT! The “Worship Drummer Reacts” thing was an idea from the very beginning of the channel because I was trying to communicate how I view music. I’ve been performing for decades in a variety of styles (see my 1,000 followers video for more on that and what I do today) but for about 15 years, I’ve primarily played in the Christian praise and worship space.
