I could barely keep my 2 hands straight when learning the piano. How he does different things with each hand AND each foot is simply amazing.

This is why he's is so great. Yea he plays those metal songs all the time, but he reinvents songs like this he did it with gangnum style, Take On Me and others. Plus all the songs he does he dosen't need a giant set of drums that's why he's so impressive and he has all the stick tricks and ridiculous polyrythum's going on at the same time. No one can touch this guy.
You know when you can't really compare him to any other musician you're watching someone very special. Watching him giving away free drum kits on the streets of Vancouver was cool as hell!!!

He was at Drumeo, did a promotion for an electronic drum set manufacturer that would have been wild seeing him on the streets of Vancouver.
He's still my favorite drummer, and you have reviewed some amazing drummers recently as well, but i suppose I'm partial to his drumming!

Ya Man, he is a new level of drummer. I love music, have played a violin for 45 years. It's refreshing to me to see the next level of musicians evolve. I haven't,just play sheet music. Keep young people involved. Even some good scratching!

Bringing the heat once again. One of my ATFs (for anyone who hasnt seen it yet, search El Estepario Siberiano 'Best Breakdown Ever'), is the short video where he introduces a SHOTGUN in the break of the song. THAT was something ive never seen a drummer do.

Dude inspired me to learn drums. I picked up the new drumeo e-kit with the free year of drumeo just so I can learn from this guy and Domino.
I relate the weight on the drum to why I like playing snares off. There is a crisper distinction to each hit. Aloha

One of the most impressive things in his drumming is the minimized kit. Incredible.
He is a freaking machine! And still he plays with soul! Unreal...
It amazes me how simple his setups are.
Just remember and watch his daily routine video....he sleeps, wakes up, runs for 1 hour and trains all day straight....everyday...its all drums drums drums..insane

Sure the weight is just his preference in sound- but thats not really answering what people are asking. They mean WHAT does the weight DO to the sound that makes him want it there?
I assume it cuts reverb, makes the sound sharper, maybe lifts its pitch a bit?
He stated in a video that it was in fact to cut reverb and the yamaha whole kit EDS mic he is using sounds way better with vs. without the weight. I tried it and it works
