What blows my mind is that the Bongo Song was never played or intended to be played by a single drummer. It's played by two drummers, which makes this cover nearly unbelievable.
...with a lot of help from a drum machine...
@@Kiham80 El Estepario is the drum machine.
@@CM.243 Agreed! But the first dudes are not :P
100% mate it was made for an ochestra or percussion and other instruments you don’t even hear the gap where the other instruments are he’s that seemless I know some amazing drummers I’m not half bad myself , played for a few known musicians and just wow this guys mustard indeed ❤️
It’s played by two guys in the original and they play the same beat. So it was intended for one
He is without a doubt the first drummer that could go on tour by himself just playing cover!! He would be a sell out every night!!
take my money!!!!!!!!!!
Not really you'd get bored with no instruments
Yesss! I agree!☝️
Knowing technically nothing about drumming, very little about music in general, when you witness someone like this you know your seeing extremely rare talent .
I’ve been watching amazing and legendary drummers for years, and nobody is doing what he’s doing or is as talented. Period. He’s absolutely the most talented drummer alive, and the attention he’s bringing to the drums is fantastic. Most unbelievable speed, accuracy, coordination, and technique in the biz!
I think similar about it - although Id say objectively there is probably some ppl in the world who have or had similar impact / skill that I just did not recognize yet. That being said- I started drumming because of Estepario- which probably says something.
Still he is pretty humble and has nothing but good words about other legends like Thomas Lang and else. Fact is: neither Thomas Lang nor the Dreamtheater drumming crew or any other famous drummers made me feel about drums how Estepario did. Not even close.
Estepario does incredible things which are still kinda "easy to listen to" not only expressing expertise through some polyrythm 5/43 over 2/3 like Thomas Lang and others. Estepario just has this natural musicality - paired with loads of practice and technical expertise.
He is today’s Buddy Rich. Everyone treated the trap kit a certain way until Buddy came along. We’ve had a long drought of everyone chasing Buddy. Not a drummer alive would even suggest someone was better or is currently better than him. This guy is absolutely on Buddy’s level and has the life left to pass him. The promised one has arrived to begin an entirely new era of trap drum kit usage.
Eloy Casagrande...
He is in another dimension that takes it to another SUPER EXTREME LEVEL!!!! To me he is no doubt the Absolute Best Drummer in the world he is to drums as Anatoly is to lifting extreme heavy weights making it look so damn easy, he is definitely going to be remembered for a very very looooong time, again in my mind, he is definitely the "King of Drums" & very humble, thank you Estepario for your out of this world talent, always a pleasure listening to your music videos, Que Dios lo bendiga
not sure about talented - he made a video specifically about this showing and explaining his progress. He's got where he is through consistent hard work and practice - which is actually even more impressive than simply having talent imo
Music is a pure gift Mr. Colby, and here is living proof!!! Michael...
Look at his face, he's flying, loving every second. The way you get that good is that you get all the feels from doing it better that you did before and then letting it just happen. Your tools are just an extension of your body. A man in his best place.
My dad was a world class sailor . . . I KNOW that look. It's a high like no other. I sailed with my dad from Maine down the east coast and through the Panama Canal on to Guatemala . . . fighting the current and playing the Gulfstream --- we averaged 200 miles a day (which is incredible). When he was 71, he could scale a stay or the mast like a monkey, grinning the whole time. He knew every sail in the wardrobe, every sheet, every line, and every sound and shimmy on that boat--it was an extension of his body. A man in his best place.
He's recently been interviewed for the Meinl Cymbals Podcast on UA-cam and he talks about the first time he hit a drum at 11yo, his body vibrating with the reverberation of the sound... Check it out, it's good 😊
It's unconscious competence. This is what musicians are all trying to achieve.
Man, I'm so glad I'm not a percussionist.
Many don't like the word "GENIUS", well I'm sorry for many, but this guy is a "GENIUS".
I have been studying music since I was 7 years old, and never in my student or work life have I seen anyone play like that, I have seen exceptional percussionists, I have seen incredible ones but this man is a "DEMON" playing the drums, literally.
The great violinist Nathan Milstein once said, "Either you can play it, or you can't play it," as simple as that.
El Estepario is an ABSOLUTE GENIUS, and in his immense modesty he encourages us that it is possible, but it is a lie.
Understand that for that genius it is normal, and what we see seems impossible to us, for him it is normal.
We are facing a phenomenon of nature, a Failure in the Matrix.
For me he is the best in the world.
But that is my modest opinion.
Id mostly agree and I think also that the phrase "there is no talent- only practice" comes from ppl who did not fully understand what talent ist.
Still I just wanted to add that while being a multiinstrumentalist myself, the own point of view changes dramatically over time with practice.
At start you feel like stuff is simply impossible, but after takin step after step, building muscles and neurons, stuff becomes kinda "reachable".
This does not invalidate your argument which I agree with but I just wanted to add this - especially to ppl who underestimate their own ability to improve- even with "medium" talent.
Please go check out owen davey play dreamtheater on EVERY instrument it's not right.
bro have you seen technical death metal?
I agree with you...11 months later 😂. Many drummers are exceptional at what they play; yet, take them to play a completely different kind of music, and they're lost. However, I have seen this guy playing a wide array of music styles. The only styles that I have not seen him doing (at least extensively) are certain latin music genres (but I suspect he can do them, by the way he carries himself in some of his clips), and jazz (that could be really hard, particularly covering certain songs). If he could do those two, he would probably be the most complete drummer that I have seen.
A failure in the Matrix indeed!
This guy is so ridiculous he is so calm and smooth NICE!!
I think he is pure instinct without thinking it…he IS each beat, each roll, each symbol…he becomes One with his Kits…and his Kits vary from video to video. He’s an artist and fully committed to each moment he’s Drumming. It’s my take but the only way I can explain the extraordinary talent of this man…Bravo! 👏👏👏
He's basically Bruce Lee behind drums. Be drums, my friend.
His basic kit stays the same throughout every video. Just look carefully. Doesn't rule out the fact that he becomes one with the song.
@@dennisrehrmann6710 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He is out of this world.. he is insane.. he is beyond impossible..
The dude is out of this world. There are lots of very talented fingers and percussionists. But there's something really special with this dude. It's so damn awesome and such a treat to see him play. Great video. 👍
Dude I love Safri Duo, and the fact that he is playing two parts at the same time is mind blowing
It's not the speed, it's the precision... boy is playing 1/8 & 1/16 without missing a single beat or space... it's robotic perfection.
His Gravity blasting is amazing. This guy can play anything. He's absolutely hands down the best drummer I have ever heard.
What is really crazy is he's playing the parts of two drummers. I remember finding Safri Duo when I was 13/14... 20ish years ago and thinking they were insane! This is just...... Next level
Stunning drumming. Flawless, effortless, and he is really enjoying himself. Best drumming I have ever seen. Fabulous El Estepario.
YES, HES THE BEST, NEXT TO THE LATE, GREAT, NEIL PERT!!! MICHAEL...
I especially like this one because he seems to be enjoying playing it.
effortless? :) like 20+ years of hard work, and he is sweating!
@bernardjacques3860 I don't mean he isn't working hard for it, he is. He just makes it look effortless. He's an very efficient drummer.
He has stated in other videos that the reason he is able to play at that level is all due to practice. But from what I can tell, besides having supernatural four-limb independence, he thinks creatively outside the box more than most people. He is amazing.
Mr. Colby, this is by far the greatest song this man has ever performed!!! You should hear the original too sir??? Michael...
He sounds so good, not only the perfect clean technique, it sounds good on every way of listening and feeling ❤
This is not just talent. This is some serious devotion and hard work. He is the best there is. Mozart of drumms❤
There are human beings that come along who are simply astonishing. He is one of them. An inspiration on so many levels. What I would give for even one private lesson with him. When my girlfriend and I get our non profit set up for my fellow vets we want people like this to to come in and work with disabled vets
I think he trains at least 5h per day? There are some videos from him on the topic, also about talent ;)
What you see now is the result of hard work...
He clearly took what Niel did and elevated it to a new practice. Progression is the name of the game. We always think that something can't be done, then a person comes along who puts in so much effort it looks easy. Those people go down in history.
Watch his video where he says talent is a lie, it's all hard work. He claims he went to school, and eventually worked, and every conscious, breathing moment in between was drumming 7 days a week without ever taking a day off, no matter, cold, flu, or whatever, just drum. That's a very rare dedication, but he's proof positive and the perfect example that practice makes perfect. And he watches other drummers and says the same about them, that they're great and he couldn't do what they do, but I have my doubts. I don't think there's too much beyond his abilities
Perfect practice makes perfect.
I've played for 19 years and I'm still blown out of seat with his perfect timing and precision, but his style is so unmatchable. Brilliant 👏 👏 bravo el friend 🧡
❤😂🎉
33 years here, he's a fuckin monster.
The speed of his single stroke rolls is insane
His interpretations are getting better every day.
He is possessed by some being from another planet or something like that.
It's really hard to understand how someone can be so talented.
He's more than gifted !🥁 he eats the drums, it's in his soul.
THE BEST DRUMMER OUT THERE FULL STOP 🛑 this is years
Of hard practice and dedication he eats and sleeps drums this is his life 🙏
I remember the first time I heard Safri Duo do Played-A-Live, I was amazed at how cool it sounded with both of them playing. El Estepario Siberiano sounds every bit as good or better doing it solo. He's on a completely different level.
💯🐐
And they Was a duo. Safri Duo, they played this song on two drums and with four hands. But, just for the record, they not played the leg things. So mr Siberiano making two and half job alone. :)
@@TranceFanHungary But this guys "leg things" are insane on their own. He can work those pedals like no one I've ever seen before, so I would go as far as saying he's doing the job of 3.5 drummers. He is incredible. And self taught in 11 years or something ridiculous. Wow!
@@smokeybenj totaly agree! 🙂
I can't play faves with most of his videos, because even if I'm not a follower of some of the original bands' or musicians' work, I can still appreciate his impeccable craft and abilities and interpretations.
He has his youthful physicality as his main asset.
I'm an early generation x guy, so I grew up in the '70s and '80s with all of the huge drum sets these drummers played on. So for me seeing this guy initially I was like okay this is a real small kit, but there's no way I can sit and just deny his talent, ability, and obvious devotion to perhaps what could be thousands of hours of practice. Nobody gets this good without practice.
He's the best drummer I'm aware of right now. Hardest thing to do is to hold a beat and come back on one, and he's throwing all of these complicated fills, as clean as I've ever seen, and coming back on one That's the hardest thing I've ever had to tackle.
If Neil Peart was alive, other than retiring because of his age and inability to keep up secondary to that age, he would probably retire because of talent like this.
The guy might as well be drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette. Oh wait! He does that while he plays.
Really. Neil Peart would retire. Dumbest statement ever
:)
@@denet2469 I'm glad you like it.
Are you going to be okay?
I mean dude this is sick but have you seen his new video. Oh my God the techniques that he is using are like nothing I have ever seen anyone else do. This guys on a whole complete other level of drumming
This drummer's skills come not from concentration, but from a gift in its purest form, the likes of which I have never seen in over 35 years of making music.
Obviously the greatest drummer not just his technique but his groove and taste
The man is superhuman. Only One other has such chops - his Infernal Majesty !
Best drummer i have ever seen. Unbelievable. Wow.
It’s almost like he plays using 100% peripheral vision. He doesn’t really look at the drums. It amazing. And the speed that he’s playing makes the sticks look like the old pencil rubber trick.
That part isn't unusual, even a beginner drummer will be able to hit every part of their kit with their eyes closed.
Best example I've ever seen not looking is Nick Mason playing "set the controls for the heart of the sun" live in Pompeii
This guy blows my mind. I am not a drummer or musician but this guy is my all time favorite drummer. 😎
what i found funny was that EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO said its not talent that got him here it was hard work and dedication and not talent lmao which he clearly has but it was the hard work and dedication that allowed his natural talent to do what hes doing and showing us
He is by far the bus drummer of ever seen, and I’ve seen a ton of people !! A ton of concerts a ton of musicians never seen anybody play the drums like this dude level 10×100 absolute fire
I've watched pretty much everyone of his videos and watched them good. Couple of things come to my mind:
- See how he keeps his right stick between his middle and index finger during the hardest parts? Makes it easier for some moves.
- He IS the beat, the rhythm. He has way better sense of rhythm than the common man and he just is persistent on practice. IIRC he said that he's been practicing every day for the past 18 years.
- His basic setup remains the same throughout his videos. Ok, there are additions every now and then but the basics are there. Practice and muscle memory.
- For some odd reason I believe that he has practiced his limbs to work independently, in gym or otherwise. It surely is possible, practice and muscle memory again.
- He just has a huge amount of talent on top of everything.
All in all a humble and a great guy. And by far the best drummer in the world.
Yes! I drummed when I was younger. I have watched many different styles and classes of drummers. Not an expert. I do remember when we listened to our rock music when we were younger, the sayings of 'he's the best guitarist/drummer in the world' would float around. A lot of people I knew didn't know that I would listen and practice to jazz records, so I kinda knew better. As soon as I ran across this guy on the net, I knew he was a special drummer! Some have it and work it. It is called the whole package! Kinda like the most beautiful lady, with all the charm and heart who is willing to let you drive her Ferarri to the beach while she runs her law firm= The whole package :)!
I think, whenever you say I don't understand, it's unanimously thought of... I've just come to the conclusion, just enjoy, if you pick up on bits and incorporate it, awesome, if not, just go with the flow and smile!! Absolute raw talent!!
I love the composure and absolute joy on his face. Makes me happy to watch and listen.
I think this is my favorite video of Estepario, the drums are absolutely flawless but they compliment and complete the song in a way that most of his other covers, while still absolutely mind-blowing, tend to fall in the "overplaying way too much over a simple beat" territory.
He changes the grip on the sticks constantly from thumb and index finger to index and middle finger on both hands when he needs it. Great. A great musician.
Everyone from my generation in Denmark remember when Safri Duo made that hell of a track. :)
This one is by far one of my favorites since it's a drum cover of a Danish Classic
Super démonstration magnifique quel niveau bravo
He’s not only good as hell he brings drums to another level!!! Love it!!!
YES, MUSIC IS A GIFT!!! MICHAEL...
he seems to channel it. he seems like a savant. he remains calm. he doesn’t TRY…..he just plays.
he is serene when he is playing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
LMAO What can you say that we haven't already said the Groovefather is a master drummer all we can do is sit back and enjoy!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I like watching him. It’s amazing to see how he uses his feet and hands and when you watch his eyes he rarely pays much attention to where he’s going. He just knows exactly where everything is and feels the music. That’s how effortless it is when you give yourself to something and make it yours.
He's definitely the best drummer that I've ever heard, his coordination is nuts.
Insane talent!!
Best Bongo Song cover ever and takes this song to a spectacular level never before.
Song = 100%
Beat = 100%
Better than the Original = 100%
Sound Quality = 100%
With Love from Spain = 100%
Everything OK = 100%
Colby = 101% 🙃
Amazing hand speed , the best drummer I have seen in the 40+ yrs . practice makes you perfect and this guy is way beyond that.
most of us drummers cant play like this even if we had a 4-5 arms. but still prefer through fire and flames cover. that was superb
What's even crazier that this song was originally played by two drummers
His spatial awareness, timing, and otherworldly fills are such a joy to watch. He is such a joy to watch. Amazing! Thanks Colby!
He's literally seeing the music. He gets a deep smile cause he likes what he sees.
This sets a new goal for many of us! I love his videos and his music and then he pulls of things like this that the original artist was two drummers. He’s definitely achieved “drum god” status in my eyes.
I cannot wait to see your reaction video to his newest Blinding Lights cover. He takes it to a whole new level!
He has got to be the best out there, he is at a level that nobody else is at, I’ve been a drummer for 40 years now and this is just mind blowing
My favorite is when he plays the drums!!
those cymbals sound amazing!!! El estapario is a living legend! What an inspiration!! ❤❤❤
É tão gratificante ver uma pessoa se propôr a fazer algo e ela faz além do esperado.
Parabéns !
so far, best drummer I've ever seen
Mesmo para quem não entende de bateria, nota-se que esse baterista é unico, completamente fora da curva. É maravilhoso vê-lo exercitar seu dom, um deleite!!!!!!
This was awesome to see him post it live!
One of my favorites is maniac, and of course take on me. They are all good!
It is just so much fun to watch him play. He brings such a level of inspiration with how he plays. An absolute monster on the drums!
this is what you could call a natural gift...
He actually talks about that in one of his videos. He does not believe in natural talent. It is many hours of practice.
This is tens of thousands of hours of practice
@@spugnoid dude really? one can practice millions of hours.. you dont just get there
Yes, it definitely is, but then you have to both prove it and reinforce it with lots of practice, hours and hours, most days. You want the outgrowth to be magic, to keep us astounded, almost in disbelief. If you don't have a discipline to practice, you could be ok, or even good, but you won't be among the greatest. In my opinion, it is -like in many other fields- NATURE + NURTURE.
This dude always AMAZES me. Words cannot describe this guy. He’s not human.
Makes my arms ache just watching, the best in the world
He deserves all the recognition in the world for actually mastering and redefining the craft.
LISTEN CLOSE, YOULL HEAR WHY MUSIC IS A PURE GIFT, MICHAEL...
What’s amazing is the finger control. He’s getting so much from his hands and wrists. Some drummers it’s all arms. I’m not a drummer but having been immersed in music as a concert goer and playing acoustic at church you notice things after a while. Efficiency of movement is key to doing so much. But then on top of that his execution is phenomenal.
I had a big Ole smile on my face the whole time. Amazing
Me too 😊couldn't stop
Yeah he's unbelievable,by far the best head and shoulders above all the very best ,his skill set is so unique that he sets the bar in which all else can't reach its so high ,unquestionably the most powerful talant ,crazy how talented this Man is ,love watching him play ,leaves yeah speechless everytime my eyes No1 worlds very best there is or ever will be
"How do you get this good?"
A valid question when you consider that no one could teach this to him!!
Mind blown!
It's called natural ability that cannot be taught.
He is a freak of nature, oozing talent. Absolutely agree with Colby, no one better
I'm so thanking the drum gods for showing me you. Your sound is in my head always. I love the groove you get into.
My hands do it on a klong yaw
All of them are just out of this world 🎉this guy will never be better he is from another planet 🌎 perfect every time
He is un·stop·pa·ble so good!!!~!!
Whoa... Simply amazing dexterity, chops, and endurance. What a talent and what a creative way to incorporate bongos into a drum kit.
No one´s better than stepario!!!! He play "TWO men song" alone... es la santísima leche este man!!!
2:20 My Lord. It's magic.
That man is definitely good on the drums.
So, I'm not a percussionist, so my reaction to him is through people like you who can play. the fact that you all sit there looking bemused at his level of skill makes me even more impressed by how god (was going to spell correct that but God does seem to be fitting!) he truly is!
Check out the fulcrum on his right hand while on the big crash over the floor tom ...between the middle finger and the index finger ....that s so crazy
You can tell he's having fun with this one...unfortunately i was not blessed with any kind of talent when it comes to the drums. My dad is a drummer, my brother is a drummer. So i most definitely can appreciate the difficulty & talent it takes to truly be a good drummer. This man is an absolute wizard & every video i see continues to blow my mind. He's just so fun to watch & sounds amazing! The power, control, and i swear he makes it look effortless....my jaw is on the floor by the end of each video. Mind blowing 🤯
Of the drummers I have seen, none are better. He is the Michael Jordan of drumming.
🐐🤘🏻
I acknowledge his accuracy and drummers love him. I've never seen his performance with a crowd or with bandmates. Isolated drums on a cell phone speaker only tell a portion of a story.
Colby you were almost speechless all video. 😂
Incredible,, this man has no weak points in what he's doing. What a great talent he has
He's currently the best drummer in the world imo...
I agree with you.. I’m 50 years old.. I’ve seen a lot of good drummers in my life time but never ever one this good. I think he’s unbeatable and without a doubt the best drummer in the world unless someone shows me otherwise.
I've only just started watching him, does he do any stuff in different time signatures? Just interested. Cos someone like Larnell seems to have the technique and variety, and I've seen him play a wide range of genres and signatures, just wondered if El Estepario has done the same.
I agree.
@@JavserviceI agree.
I’m feeling very old, but imagine this guy playing this way back in the 90’s… amazing 😊
It is a struggle to beat perfection. His technique is flawless, his sense of rhythm metronomic and beyond that he has great musical skill. Years of dedicated practice and an exuberant passion for his craft has elevated him to the level of the very best. There are few so blessed with innate talent as to have achieved mastery at such a high level without the proverbial 10,000 hours study/experience.
Bro, he should be in the America's Got Talent cause his rhythm, his drumming sounds creatively insane🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎😎
Nothing can beat him ever.... SUPER AMAZING
