    My grinder wont work all of a sudden no coffee grind coming out and beans just kina jumping around in between the burrs( i have my machine for lil over a year and we use the machine 2 to 3 times everyday) . I watched this video(and another related video), ordered new burr online at breville, I also bought separate breville grinder at best buy coz i can't wait for the burr, took the part from new grinder and tried in my machine and yes it's working now. The old part was dull. Now I have back up grinder. Maybe it's good to buy those parts ahead of time . When I just got the machine ,the motor broke coz there's a small rock in the coffee bean package. Now most of the time , I use hand picked pea-berry coffee beans and take time to check the beans before pouring in the hopper. Enjoy ur coffee everyone , and thanks for ur video.

    I just had a similar problem happen. Grinder was working but not grinding. Messed around a lot and finally got it working by expelling A LOT of old caked up grounds from the upper chute. Accomplished by using a skewer and pipe cleaner up the chute and then ground another batch. Hard clumps came out with the new grounds.

    I did figure it out :) why this is happening. The thing is a little more complex. Two Barista touches SES880 aren't the same one is more modern and one is older. They look super similar. But one does have an Inner grind-screw 6-star with wider channels and older do have 5-star grind-screw with narrower channels. There is a notch a few milliliters higher in 6-star so you cannot switch grind-screw star from one to another or you will not be able to screw it down from 5-star to 6-star, and 6-star will be loose on 5-star. Also grind bucket as you are showing, there is a very slight micro-millimeter change ever so slight inner diameter change. that is tuned for more modern 6-star grind-screw SES880 Barista touches. The issue is that they have the same serial numbers in their inventory. So if you get a new one you won't know till you try. But for example, older models are shiny like jet-black and new baristas are mate, like truffle-black color. Next to each other, these grind baskets are indistinguishable by the naked eye. you can try dialing those settings, even in a factory can be some old parts. So lottery.

      I don't think so, because the newer 6 star burr is very different shape, it's actually the baratza etzinger burrs from 900 series machines and touch machines made after 2020, and the two in my video are older from maybe 2018 machines and the older shiny ones not the newer matte ones. I say this because I also sell these frequently

    • @AngeloVerona
      @AngeloVerona 7 місяців тому

      Not sure. I have both of them, I can switch easily these grind buckets and once I do that with the same settings coffee beans just jump around with poor output grind like in your video. Grind stars are not changeable. Sure you have an older machine I have two Touch screens, but I assume this piece is reused in multiple of these products and there is a slight difference. As in their respective grinders they work perfectly fine.

    If you remove the wire handle, you can turn the upper part and change the grind height. Because you didn't keep the camera still, I couldn't see how they're originally set, you kept waving everything around :)

  • @jacan3
    @jacan3 3 місяці тому +1

    I guess i can tell you why this is happening, i just figured out. It is because the plastic housing doesn't fit straight anymore and has an angle that's why it needs more force to grind the beans. It probably got worn out due to the forces that happens in the grinding process. That's also why the new burr clicks in louder than the older one.

  • @bernarat

    Is your grinder still working ok? Thanks for posting! Did a deep clean on mine and still the same issue, the beans just jump on top of the burr and don’t come down. Fortunately I got mine a few days ago and breville sending me a brand new one.

    Did you check if it would grind on a coarse setting with the old upper burr? I'm having this issue--grinding coarse dispenses and completes grinding just fine, but can no longer get espresso-level grind to emit. Would very much help me to diagnose what the solution is! Thanks

    • @caffeinefix2751
      @caffeinefix2751  Рік тому +1

      Yes in fact if you go large enough it starts giving decent output speed but the moment you try going fine to achieve espresso pressure it stops grinding properly. Since the video I’ve had about 4 customers come with the same issue and the replacement fixed the issue immediately. Happy to help!

      Thanks I upped mine to fix it and then adjusted from there. It’s almost like the previous setting (unchanged) became a LOT finer. As after clearing and going back to original setting I got literally no coffee out. Ended up dialling in the grinder and the setting ended up be double the previous.
      Really odd, as the behaviour started in the middle of grinding a shot, only noticed something odd cos it was making the sound it makes like there’s no beans but the hopper was full

    I'm finding it stops rattling and starts grinding if I change to a courser grind. But then it alternates back to rattling for a few seconds, then grinds again. It sounds like a cog inside skipping over teeth, which it definitely shouldn't be doing. I tried contacting Breville support, no response yet.

    • @caffeinefix2751
      @caffeinefix2751  2 роки тому +1

      Rattling/ ratcheting noise is probably broken or worn gears. It shouldn't happen on brand new machines (if it does, it's probably a factory defect). I've seen it happen on grinders 10+ years old and usually remedied by increasing grind size / burr setting (solved by changing the whole grinder) , but if this becomes too coarse of a grind size you'll have to resort to dual wall baskets. From experience, I've also seen it happen in a brand new machine, this ratcheting noise, but after maybe 10 seconds of running the grinder and hearing the noise, it stopped clicking and ran smoothly after, almost like it sat in place and settled, no problem after that.

      I have this exact same issue with my Breville Smart Grinder Pro, and it’s only been a few months! Normal home use, usually 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day. Frustrating. I’ve cleaned the grinder inside out but the issue still persists.

    • @CaptainAwesomeVlog
      @CaptainAwesomeVlog 2 роки тому +1

      @@beruang.matahari - I don't know if it's true, but I read one webpage which suggested earlier models had a very weakly made cogged wheel inside, which wore out or broke very fast, resulting in this rattling. They said later models had a more durable metal cogged wheel in there. Either way, I sent mine back to the seller and got a replacement, which works fine.

      I thought the same thing, but they looked as sharp as one another (the other machine isn't too old). Maybe it's a small difference in clearance/diameter that causes this, maybe imperceptible by the naked eye
